  1. Tons of people. How many of them are overweight? I'm sure many are, I'm also sure many are not. We cannot blame our parents for us being fat. This is just another way of blaming someone else for something you did to yourself. I see them all the time; that sure doesn't make me spring to McDonalds. Again, it comes down to personal choice. So, we can't just blame the media for somethign we do to ourselves. I also understand that some people have slower metabolisms. That's fine, but someone w/ a crap metabolism can still remain in shape and not be "overweight." I have a good friend who has a slow metabolism...sure he's not sporting 6 pack abs, but he eats decently and runs 20 mi a week. He is definitely not overweight, even though he may not have a "perfect" body.
  2. I understand depression is a real problem and it's not something you can just snap out of. However, using it as a scapegoat for why someone is overweight is not viable. As bad of a situation and as real as depression may be, it still is just an excuse if people blame their overweightness on it.
  3. Extra hour of sleep, or extra hour of booze? P.S. Thanks to the wife and dog for fucking waking me up! Just kidding, I love her....sometimes.
  4. Plus lets look at the average weapons people carry around in these countries...Kalishnakovs or variants thereof. So if you want to blame someone for all the arms sales/transfers around the world, blame states such as Russia, Romania, etc. How many militant armies are running around with Colt products?
  5. That's the problem right there. Depression is yet another excuse because they could choose to do something about that, but they don't. There is only one real reason people stay overweight...they're too damn lazy to follow a good diet and exercise program. If it can't be done w/ a slimfast a day, then why try?
  6. What a crock; fat people are always looking for excuses, thankfully there are scientist readily available to give them those excuses.
  7. Yeah, I was pretty busy. Don't remember the exact number, but is was extremely ludicrous. Here's a good link to read, it's from a US govt report, talks about Iraq telling what they were researching and producing. http://www.isis-online.org/publications/iraq/leitenberg.html International Law... It's intl law that a sovereign state can intervene in another for humanitarian reasons. So just on that basis, WMDs aside, we were legal to invade due to humanitarianism being one of our objectives. It does not say that humanitarianism has to be the sole objective, just one of them. Also, it is widely known today that preemtive strike is becoming more necessary in a terrorism-rich world. With the knowledge of Hussein's inhumane practices against his own people and will to research and create WMDs, there was both a humanitarian reason and a credible threat against other sovereign states. Thus, it was legal to send a coalition into Iraq.
  8. It's not foul play to go in to stabilize a region important to us and the world, while at the same time helping innnocent people have a life worth living and not one of dispair.
  9. It may have been better in 2003, but you're completely discounting the previous 10 years of weapons inspectors be given the middle finger. We shouldn't forget about that. In 2003 I believe it was, the govt spoke with several Iraqi scientists who discussed how Saddam had paid them/their "companies" several million dollars to produce chemical/biological weapons. So yes, there's solid proof that he was at the very least doing his best to produce said weapons.
  10. Doesn't matter how it was sold. The president has to try and justify war to the people, so he did so, probably not w/ the best avenue. Oh well, moot point. There's no law, international or domestic, that says the president has to justify war to the people and has to be 100% correct about that justification. Saddam gave up his rights under international law after his continuance of defiance of international law, dismal human rights, and just plain carrying on a terrible situation for his people and country. Because of that, and the threat to other sovereign nations, a coalition did have a right to go in and stop him.
  11. It's not ok for SOME countries to have WMDs. We don't give a shit that GB, France, et al have them. We do care that dictators like Saddam have/had them. It's just the simple principle of survival...we don't want our crazy enemy to have them; nothing wrong with that.
  12. Ok, here's non-circumstantial evidence.... we gave him chemical weapons in the 70s, it was proved he used them on his own poeple in the 80s. Plus, we know he had x amount of anthrax, but when files were produced, they found a massive amount were just "missing." Explain the "missing" anthrax. That's good enough reason to go in. So yeah, the guy had WMDs, it's just a question of when and where he moved them.
  13. See reply to Sudsy. See reply to bill. Yeah sorry, for some reason I just assumed Roberts. The whole religion thing was just to please the religious right, so who cares? Are you against her b/c she said she'd support pro-life? Gee, what a surprise. Ever seen a country not in deficit during wartime and multiple natural disasters? And of course this would all be solved by 60% taxes, right?
  14. See my reply to sudsy. And what!!??, the earth isn't flat! You gotta be shitting me!
  15. Hey, I've been saying from the beginning that WMDs wasn't the best reason to go in and that it was the people, creating a stable govt in the region, etc. that were the right and most important reasons. No, I was just saying that people who say Bush said there were WMDs there soley based on prayer or whatever is completely wrong. There is evidence that they were there. I never agreed with Bush's victory speech on the carrier or Cheney's claim that the insurgency is in its last throes, but by looking at all the positive things in Iraq, we are winning. Loss of life does not equal losing. It has started already. We're on the govt's side and merely need to help create a stable govt w/ a reliable military/police force...then we can leave.
  16. No no, you misread me. I'm not saying that Saddam's unwillingness to let inspectors waltz in is the proof that WMDs were there. The proof lies in the proven usage of chemical weapons against the Kurds on multiple occasions, the fact that locations were found with WMD producing equipment, just surprisingly no WMDs, the fact that the fricken US even gave weapon support to Iraq in the 70's, etc. Plus in the last few years we've found shells with chemical residue and other similar things. There's also enough satelite footage of Iraqi troops moving mass quantities of "supplies" out of compounds and such while UN inspectors were being heavily delayed. Gee, think there might be a little more than weather balloons there? So that's my support, not the fact that Saddam was flipping off the world for over a decade.
  17. Beer's not fattening, it's probably the best thing you can put in your body...well except for 100 proof liquor. Either way, everyone should drink more beer!
  18. WMDs were obviously there, and obviously moved before we could get in...b/c if you didn't notice, Saddam did not just let inspectors waltz right in. Thus, "faith-based" accusations are a bunch of bull and hold no water. We're winning the war, so how is it poorly planned? I agree all of us want to get the fuck out, but we can't until the Iraqi military/police are properly trained and properly performing to take care of their own country. Of course it's Bush's fault that some idiot in the Justice Dept dropped the ball. Everything is his fault after all. Care to elaborate on why Roberts was a stupid nomination? (I'm serious, I'd like to hear your opinion). FEMA is completely handcuffed by the bureaucracy of our system, but namely the states. LA dropped the ball bigger than anyone else, not that I'm saying FEMA didn't fuck up. Something needs to be done, yes. But things like this take some time, lighten up a bit.
  19. You should have dutch ovened her to give a longer lasting effect.
  20. I didn't say anything about WHAT questions were on the list, but WHO would answer them. Plus, knowing the bank of questions is indicative of EVERY leader in a similar situation. No one would ever allow a free-for-all, there is always some control. So no, this isn't really surprising and is actually relatively expected of any person from any country in a similar situation. All politicians do it, so who cares? Stop trying to drag Bush through the mud by complaining about something he does that EVERY politician does.
  21. Ahhh, you Brits are alright. 1. Only complete idiots get shot by their own family (or they did something to deserve it), so either way, it's their dumbass fault. 2. No American cars! Them be fightin' words boy! I drive a bimmer, so what would I know anyways. 3. Driving more than 100 miles is a long way and I hate doing it...flying is way better. Never will I ever take one of those damned family road trips. 4. Hey, I have an understanding of history that goes beyond several centuries...not all of us are historically inept. 5. I do dislike the French and I do like their wine!. 6. There's always one open! 7. When appropriate, I am polite and do get served in turn. 8. I get 30 days a year! 9. I'm fine w/ how my health insurance works. It gets the job done, period. Bottom line, I love being an American, but all in all, you Brits are good guys. Glad to have you across the pond.
  22. From what you posted, it just shows good planning. Better to know who's going to answer a question than to get an off-the-cuff question and 4 Capts look at each other like "uhhhhh, you want to take it?" Better to have a prepared response than to stutter through an adhoc babbling.
  23. Well, guess the wife now has to do ALL the housework, chores, etc. I'll say the Brits told me so.
  24. Yep, went to the incident forum right after this post...wrong order I guess. That's terrible...condolences to the family and friends.
  25. WHAT! YOU'RE NOT INSANELY OVERTAKEN WITH JOY THAT THE SOX WON!! Hey, it may not be the cubbies, but at least Chi town finally gets something...our day has come!
