HOLY COW BATMAN! Was this stuff used against him in 2000? How did Gore spin this away? Maybe it is all part of the vast Right Wing Conspiracy, they are a republican gay advocacy group making these charges. For one it wa 16 years prior. For two, when did Gore ever go on record as saying he wanted to denend homos? I realize it's a given that if you belong to teh Dem Party it is assumed you are for civil rights, you have just affirmed that, but Gore and his wife were known for being for moral causes like the music labeling. This news is no shocker. Show me legislation where he voted against gay rights. I think you're looking too closely. In the piece the head of the LCR even stated that the sources were questionable. So my question is, did anyone question them or are we just arguing about a poorly sourced election year hit piece? Personally I'd love for all this Foley crap to go away. Kick the bum out and take some of his money. I'd rather get back to issues like national security and how the party in power has put us in greater danger while doing nothing at home to make us safer, such as implementing the 9/11 commission recommendations.

Great pic! But for some reason all I can think of is "FREEBIRD"!!!!!!!

When social security goes bankrupt, you're going to have alot of people in the street with guns aimed at politicians up and down the line. Hopefully. Too bad we have to wait. And on that issue, you hear plenty of politicians say "when the boomers retire we're going to have a record number of people drawing from the system". But they all fail to mention is that that means that there is currently a record number of people paying INTO the system. Too bad it's being used to make the record deficits look smaller.

At least something is being done. Abramhoff, Scanlon, Rudy, Volz, Ney, and Cunningham have already pled in federal court. Buckham and Delay....time will tell. What about Norquist? I can't figure out how he doesn't warrant an arrest under some sort of conspiracy to defraud charge. And with the video that I saw I can't understand why DeLay isn't scrubbing a prison floor by now. I guess membership has its privileges.

How's that balanced budget amendment coming along?
-
The Bill Moyers piece on PBS earlier this week did a great job of showing how it's done these days on K street. I thought I knew a fair amount about how corrupt that project is but it turns out that I didn't. And for some reason, people will just let it slide. I mean I know that politicians and corruption are nothing new but where and when do you finally draw the line?

How does this affect the lame attempts to blame Democrats for the Foley affair? Why aren't you blaming Clinton, it's your normal procedure? The pedophile was a "family values" REPUBLICAN. So was the person who notified the press. But it's all the Dems fault. http://www.hillnews.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Frontpage/100506/news2.html

Clinton's formal policy for regime change in Iraq

Ahh....the old "who cares what you think you damn foreigner" approach to diplomacy. Bucking for a job at the UN or the State dept? Seriously though, he's entitled to express his opinion if for no other reason than that W's crusades have a direct impact on his countrymen, his government, and his fiscal and national security. -

God wills it! (and if we can make assloads of cash in the process then all the better). http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/chronicle/archive/2005/10/07/MNGNVF3SFM1.DTL As for an actual strategy in Iraq, I don't know, but Congress has already put aside $20 million for a "Victory in Iraq" celebration -

Or the wisdom to realize that "if you break it, you've bought it". Bush Sr. had it. Clinton had it. Powell had it. Bush Jr. just decided that he had God at his back so everything will certainly turn out right. I've got a little over a hundred jumps. I have a stated desire of swooping over 600'. So what should I do this weekend, jump out of the plane with an 80 sq ft canopy and 50 lbs worth of weights or should I work through a more reasonable progression and enlist the support of people who know what they're doing? Bush is still waiting for God to tell him when to let go of the front risers. Lefties are so good at telling us and other people what those people are thinking It's easy. All you have to do is pay attention to what they say, then you repeat it. I know, I know. That form of discussion is soooooooo much more labor intensive than just spouting opinion but hey, I think you folks are worth the effort -
Man, you've been on a "shoot the messenger" roll lately

Are you disgusted with politics right now?

Check it out! We agree! I thought these folks were supposed to take a break from working the farm to go do some legislating. Isn't it time for them to go back to the fields? Actually I'd prefer it if they only worked about one week a year. They seem to cause more problems than they solve while they're in session. -
I really don't see a Democrat win as a shift to the left. I don't even see it as a return to the left. The left isn't even on the radar screen these days. There has been a spectrum shift to the right. All we're talking about these days is a relative shift. Honestly, if there was really a real ideology shift to the right then I wouldn't necessarily have a problem with it. That's democracy. But the recent shift has less to do with conservative ideology than it does the desire to hold the title of "winner" with regard to the party in power. Everything is being sold under false pretenses. War, security, prosperity......I guess I should quit looking to politicians for honesty. Duh.

It's entertaining to watch the hypocrisy of the left as they go after a gay guy for sending a explicit messages to a consenting adult in response to explicit messages sent to him. If you keep it sufficiently vague you'll be able to maximize the damage to the republican "fag". So what's your point? Sexual relations are acceptable between consenting adults? Gee, I thought that was an impeachable offense and worthy of millions of dollars worth of taxpayer money and the shutting down of our federal government. You mean it's not? Put the hypocrisy where it belongs.

Nice post. Hits on a lot of topics. Be prepared to be attacked personally. The messenger has a tendency to get blown to bits in these instances

Gee, I thought we solved this problem with Campaign Finance Reform pushed by McCain and the Left? You mean it didn't work? Umm...No. Yea. This was part of the other dozen things that this CONservative CONgress ignored this term. I mean there are crooks, and there are people who write the book. I'll give them one thing, they have balls. It really hit hard when Abramhoff called Reed "a bad version of us" when referring to Scanlon and Casino Jack. I won't deny that most politicians are probably crooks. The only difference is that the Republicans recently have taken the stereotype and run away with it to set a new standard. If it makes you folks feel better, Republicans are better at being crooks than anyone else. See, who say's I can't say anything nice. Oh, P.S. I used to have good thoughts about McCain. He seemed like a good guy but now it's obvious that he's nothing more than a run of the mill politician/political hack. He talks the talk but that's where it ends. Pity.

I didn't realize that you could actually have a dark age and an information age at the same time. -
I could only hope that this is a repost because I'd like to think that everybody saw this last night and couldn't wait to talk about it this morning. Anyone see it? Any thoughts? http://www.pbs.org/moyers/moyersonamerica/capitol/index.html

Yup. And even worse than that are some of the quotes coming from the right about how the judges need to put in their place. Here's a couple of recent thoughts on the matter. Ashcroft: “The Constitution . . . provides the courts with relatively few tools to superintend military and foreign policy decisions, especially during wartime,” "judges should display a proper sense of judicial humility” and if they don’t, they “should not be shielded from criticism.” and (she turned me into a) Newt Gingrich: Supreme Court decisions are “so clearly at variance with the national will” should be overridden by Congress or the President.

So you would choose the worse choice due to their party alone? You are allowed to vote anyway you wish....Heck sell your vote on Ebay if you want. But I think that may not be the best way. No, I end up choosing the "bad choice" A good example is the senate race in my state. I have a choice between a Bush clone, environmental anti christ, good old boy networking bigot Republican or an ex Reagan Republican now Democrat candidate. The race is so tight, even though the incumbent has a huge $war chest, that I can't afford to NOT vote for the lesser of the 2 weevils.
-
They never make it on the ballot. If you don't either have an incumbency, legacy program or a truckload of cash to launch from then you don't stand a chance. Even a Diebold voting machine can't make the difference if you can't get through the primary. It may have been true at one time that "anyone can grow up to be president" but not anymore. So that basically leaves us with a bad choice and a worse choice. Anyone else think we should use the second amendment for its intended purpose

And somehow it's the Democrats fault for not making them deal with it sooner

Rush, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly, Savage, Boortz, Beck, _ucker Carlson, to name a few. If you want specifics we're going to have to narrow it down to only one or two days I'll give you Coulter and Hannity. They jump the bandwagon to a fault a lot of the time. Boortz and O'Reilly are not "right wing" guys, I understand why you might perceive this, but they definitely do not toe the neo-con line, I suggest you listen to him more closely. You're right, but I just don't like the personal attack stuff. But more specifically I can't stand the interview style of O'Reilly (Boortz isn't as bad). A good interviewer let's the interviewee do most of the talking and often lets them get in the last word. Rush, despite his faults, and in between his bouts of "humor" or "ribbing", does provide a genuine insight from a non-beltway conservative perspective. It's that arrogant humor and ribbing, belittling behavior that detracts from his dialog. I see his style as an attempt to bolster his persona to his listeners so that, like a good salesman, he can spout his opinion to an already nodding crowd who mindlessly and uncritically accepts it as fact....hence "ditto". But that aside, what I don't understand is the constant cry of being a Conservative and then backing Bush on every move.
