thanks for the replies. i'm going to stick to tracking with my FS suit and my FF suit when i get it. ive done a bunch of 6 - 12 way tracking dives, managing to stay next to the hare at different speeds. if anyone here jumps in the south of england and would like to do some tracking dives this summer give me a shout, im tempted to do some 2-way tracking dives (kinda coach jumps) - when i can get some cash together i'd pay for your slot if you can help me get better. thanks again. hi everyone, I thought this would be the best place to ask this. I LOVE tracking, easily my favorite thing in skydiving. Im getting very tempted to 1) try smoking pants with some friends and 2) save up and buy a PF tracking suit. with my jump numbers would this be a dumb thing to do? im pretty confident with my tracking skills, did a solo tracking dive with a protrack and got 78sec freefall and 89 /87mph averages. are there any added dangers with using these suits/pants? cheers, caspar p.s sorry for posting here as a non- BASE jumper, i just figured you guys use these bits of kit most. 3 friends and i are going to empuriabrava for 8 days this august and we are trying to find somewhere very cheap to stay. could someone please direct us to the place they'd recommend as the best/cheapest? (we are hiring a car so it doesn't have to be walking distance). thanks in advance. "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

i just got told im on the website! really small pic of me at the the counter (i only left perris 2 weeks ago). so, do i get a free safire 2 for being on your site? hint hint "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

honestly, i have no memory of being taught a hard deck whilst doing my AFF. if i was i dont think it was really drilled into me. i paid attention through AFF and people generally think of me being anal / excessive with worrying about safety issues. i have been jumping for one year, AFF trip to states last year (march), 15 odd jumps in england and i just got back from a trip to perris. i have only recently actuvely decided on a decision altitude after reading DZ.com a few months ago. before i just thought id cut away when i needed to, i knew the risk of altit awareness with mals. thought id answer my own Qs. i pull at 3500, decision 2000. housemate just came in, she did AFF with me. she also has no memory of being taught a hard deck on our AFF. think im going to have to talk to an instructor about this one. i thought that at 1000ft with an RSl youd be fine. i was told that a reserve opens in 400 ft (at terminal). is this right? so if you passed the 1000ft mark with your main pretty fucked would you just dump your reserve and hope for the best? one quick question. with all that sponsered go fast he'll be drinking will there be a toilet on the plane? "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." -
after reading the incident forum about loss of altitude awareness during a mal i am interested in: 1) what altitude do you normally pull at and what your personal hard deck is (decision altitude at cutting away) 2) when you had a mal(s) did you cut away higher, lower or at this decision altitude. if lower, did you actively raise your decision altitude 3)how many of you honestly havent thought about decision altitudes for a while and just think i'll deal with the mal when it happens- im sure there must be some. i thought that risers on most rigs were pretty much exactly the same. could you say why you think they are the best. in terms of safety which is the best and worst and why? ive never thought about looking into different risers from a safety standpoint (or any point), i would be interested to hear your views. i couldnt find any info when i did a search. i heard about trackiing competitions from someone briefly. i wondered if anyone could tell me what they entail (rules etc), when where and how often they happen. would love to compete in one when im good enough to. anyone know what kinda of FF time and distance the winners got in those comps? hey dude, im from skydive UWE. if you come to uwe and join our club you could get your license on our annual AFF trips to the states. we just got back from perris where we had 20 ish students learn. (we get group discounts and is cheaper than learning in the UK by a mile. our meetings are at the rising sun on thursdays 8pm onwards. caspar "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

thanks for the replies! one thing ive definitely learnt from this thread is dont get a white reserve so you guys can better inspect the canopy and lines. (i dont care what colour a reserve is aslong as it works). yellow it is! thanks again. caspar "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

sorry to butt in, im still a newbie (and buying a reserve soon) i am slightly confused by all these line coatings. what is it exactly you dont like about PD reserve lines? should i seriously consider this when buying a reserve? (i mean, so many people have PDs) if you want, PM me so i dont interrupt your discussion too much. many thanks, caspar "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

number 8. this is what im going for if it helps(as its quite different to your designs), probably too many colours but what the hey, i like it! "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

thanks for the replies. unforetuneately im ordering it while in perris. from the sounds of it, it would probably be cheaper to fly to perris and get it myself. hell, i suppose another trip to perris in 3 months time wouldnt be a bad reason for getting a credit card! hi everyone, i live in the UK. i will be going to perris in a week and at the end of the trip i will be buying my 1st rig, ive bee hearing of sales tax, import duties of up to 40% (sending to the UK) plus VAT could be included on that (UK equivalent of sales tax - its 14% i think). can some PLEASE help me and tell me the ways of avoiding all these taxes as ive heard its possible. ive heard about delivering it out of california, picking it up myself from perris and flying it back, getting someone to carry it back, getting the dealer to send a box of newspapers o the UK and someone picks it up in perris. etc any help would be great "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

thanks for the replies i think im going to get one anyway. i cant see one extra strap pissing me off or costing that much, and if it helps in any way i dont see why i shouldnt get it (unless there ate any major cons to it apart from being a bit useless) "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."
-
sorry think i may have got a bit confused between the two. so what would be the main reason to get a belly strap then? just the ones i stated above? (excluding safer in sit). basically i am about to buy my 1st container and want to be as safe as possible. dont care about scarificing looks and a bit of canopy speed etc. would anyone here recommend getting a backstrap? if so, is it worth getting a belly strap too? ive neither seen nor used either of them. i just dont want something to happen that i could of prevented so im being a bit more anal about safety than i really am. thanks for the replies by the way. edit to add: thanks for the reply bill, you posted it as i was writing this one. would you recommend getting a backstrap as well? "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."
-
im just about to buy a container, and after listening to bill booth on skydive radio (which is awesome by the way!) and searching the forum i have decided to get a belly strap. before i fully go ahead with this i just wanted to make sure. Are there any reasons why i SHOULDNT get a belly strap, i want my rig to be as safe as possible and from what i understand not only does it cover you in that 1 in god knows what chance of you falling out of your rig but it also makes it feel safer and is much more comfortable and stable when sit flying (something i shall be doing in the near future). cheers, caspar "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."
