sorry if this seems morbid but i was wondering if anyone has any info on the following. we all know that smaller HP canopies entail a larger amount of risk but i was wondering if there we any statistics of fatalities relating to canopy size. e.g 25% of all fatalities happen under sub 100 sq.ft canopies (or 1.7 WL). i dont know if this really helps us learn in any way but then i think it could be a interesting (possibly useful) stat along with the other stats on the database here on dz.com maybe these stats would help deter people from downsizing too quickly "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

maybe think about if others want to jump with you without a AAD? ive decided for the moment im not jumping with anyone without one. why? skills arent great and id hate to imagine what id go through if i knocked someone out in freefall and killed them. that doesnt mean i do more dangerous stuff witth AADs, its just shit happens. you can do everything right and still get killed - OR KILL SOMEONE ELSE im sure my point of view will change with experience. im with a uni skydiving club, i learnt with the club last year and this year we took 20 odd students to perris. did the course over there, the hop n pop and solo's got all the jumps signed by instructors then got it signed off by the CCI at out local dz back home. send it all off to the bpa and hey presto you have a license. have fun! thats pretty much what im doing. ive messed around a bit trying it,as most do im sure. but i figure 3-4 days with 10 coach jumps and solo's in between is definitely going the right way. from what ive experienced freeflying kicks ass and id like to jump with my friends who are coming to spain and not only have safe jumps but fun jumps rather than ruining the jump or not being anywhere near them due to lack of skill. unforetunately im a bit of a holiday jumper. i like to do training when on holiday. if im not trying my hardest to asve for something i have no cash, more beer! so training is not really something id consider in the uk, i jump heer bt its to have fun and keep up my currency. i definitely agree with 2-3 ways although in perris a few months back i ended up doing a 7 way horny gorilla - sit jump. was originally a 2-way with a guy who had 700-1000 jumps. then others had jumps in that range, i had 100. although it was fucking fun and nothing bad happened, im not going there for a while yet...a good while. half asleep so apologies if i havent made sense. ive bought exactly the same canopy, pilot 168 had 203 jumps when i bought it and mfd same year i think(9am here and im at work so half asleep). i was told its got ages to go before a re-line. not a very concisive answer but its all i have.
