Just got off the phone with MS. You're right, they were not interested in a receipt or the fact it wasn't registered (I know, I expect too much from an 8 y/o boy). They now email a shipping label and you can box it off today, or wait and they will send you a shipping box. Maximum turnaround time "15 days" ...fairly amazing, if true. Once again, thanks for the help. jen ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Got a call from my nephew last night ...his Xbox360 Elite is showing the the dreaded 'Red Rings of Death'. I made the mistake of giving him the sales receipt in case he needed it for just such an event ...he nas no idea where it is. ANyone have experience with microsoft repair or other suggestions? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Correct. Which is why his temp gauge had barely moved. Would additional punctuation have helped? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Who suggested starting it and flooring it? What a stupid strawman. 5 minute warmup - sorry, you're the one that's behind the times. The car doesn't complete its warmup just sitting there anyway. Odd - if I start the truck and let it idle for 5 minutes, the tempurature gauge has just started to lift off the peg. I guess it must be broken. You mean the temp gauge that measures the temp of the water in your radiator ...which doesn't flow through your engine until it reaches about 190 degrees F? I thought 'Basic Truck' was a required course in Texas. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Well, you just can't unite everyone. I understand why some would share your view. Certainly the narrow-minded, bigoted types who's opinions have received far too much attention in the last eight years or so will be alienated as they are driven back to their caves. The rest of us will stand a much better chance to unite in our efforts to repair the damage done to our great country and move forward. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Interesting take. Life is an ever changing environment. Things change, we accumulate knowledge, evaluate and make new decisions based on what is happening around us. You should try it before you criticize the process. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

While I'm sure that he's got his faults...any asshat can go to that column and edit stuff like that. I like wikipedia, but it's definitely not an end-all-be-all source. www.nndb.com has a little summary on him as does snopes. You can look up the incidents in the Wikipedia article, if you don't believe them. And the NNDB link you cited has this: 10+ years ago he sounded like a good guy. Everytime I read about him over the last 8 years, he sounds like a megalomaniac who considers himself above the law. Borrowing from another thread, he's a Neanderthal understands that his actions are satisfying to the more basic animal instincts of the other Neanderthals living in the region. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

So, basically what you are saying is political zealotry trumps racial bigotry? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

who pissed in your cornflakes today There is no condescension here, i am stating what i see as an outsider traveling through the USofA. Im major cites where there is a larger population of nationalities, bigotry is less obvious. when i have travelled through the smaller towns particulary in the lower states, I found it to be much more overt. That's why i posted this thread, I'm interested in seeing if people think that the USofA as a whole is socially ready for a person of colour to be their leader. Read into it what ever you want, be as nasty as you chose it's not a problem for me, you just make youeslef look petty No, there *IS* condescension - mostly from people outside the US that view anyone from south of DC, west of Florida and east of Arizona to be Cro-Magnon knuckledraggers. Quite comical coming from people who coined such terms as "seppos", "abos", "pikeys", etc. Is there bigotry in the south? Yup, there is. There's bigotry in the north, east and west, too....from all colors and all walks of life. That 'redneck bigot' is most likely the guy you passed on the shoulder of the highway, changing a tire for an old black (*gasp*) lady in a pouring rain. That 'redneck bigot' is most likely the one that's stepped ahead to hold the door open for that young mother trying to herd 3 small kids into the grocery store. That 'redneck bigot' is most like the one that just handed you 50 cents with a "y'all have a good day, now" while you're digging change out of your pocket standing in front of a coke machine. I think you are being unnessasarily harsh on Cro-Magnons. People outside of the geographic area you described realize that it was the Neanderthols who were the knuckle draggers. Believed to be extinct by most, some scholars feel their descendants do, indeed, inhabit the area now known as Texas.

When you say "WE" are you refering to the big city WASP type "W"E or the urban/rural less than cosmopolitain type "WE", i ask because although I have enjoyed my 3 times in the States and will again in December. Traveling through the inland Lower states is kinda scary, the bigotry is out and proud. When I say "we" I mean the USofA, that was the subject. It also appears that you yourself have already formed an opinion, thus making this poll a rhetorical exercise. Thanks. Squeak brought a lot of baggage with him when he toured the US. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

I work my ass off to build power plants (UNION) for your electricity and make 36 bucks an hr. I consider that a liveable wage. Not many people can or will do it. And I sure as fuck ain't gettting rich. Am I being paid to much? I showed my mom your post and here is her reply. For comparison, there are many thousands of Critical Care nurses who studied for years to obtain a license then took additional classes for certification and never stop taking additional continuing education courses in order to stay current and renew their licenses. They work shifts 24/7 (in designated biological and chemical hazzard environments) including holidays. Balancing medications and treatments on the fly they give their all, physically and emotionally, trying to keep the tiny spark of life glowing in the critically ill/injured. In South Florida at least, they average about $8-10/hr less than you. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

duh I would think that would be even more confusing en Miami. You can always go hang out in Quebec Nah, he can come down to Hallendale or Hollywood beach. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Looks like their lawmakers are just as delusional and paranoid as ours. BTW, Red Dawn was one of the greates movies ever made! And Billy - you are right on. What a bunch of wussies. WOLVERINES!!!!

All the fucking way. There is NO excuse for skydivers to be suing skydivers over a skydiving related accident. Period. I make the decision to get on the plane. I deal with the consequences of that decision. End of story. That's what the waiver said. If you disagreed with it, why did you sign it? Somewhere along the line, new skydivers became customers ...to be treated in business like manner. In short, they entered the sport as a customer paying cash for a service. Skydiving became more business than sharing a love of the sport and the chickens have come home to roost. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

So SS Officers were the true patriots of Deutschland in the '30s and '40s? Transported to that time and place, many of the 'patriots' on this site would, indeed, be part of the SS. Well, look who's back with yet ANOTHER slam on those who serve or support them.... what a surprise. Regarding the SS, who do you think those people were when Hitler was rising to power ...monsters, chained in basements, awaiting release to do Hitler's bidding???? For the most part they were patriots who loved their country and supported a strong leader who clearly identified a threat and a way to eliminate it so their beloved country could survive and grow. Short sighted, perhaps without the ability for clear, independent thinking ...but just patriots who belived they were serving their country. Not evil people waiting to be unleashed, just everyday people, such as yourself perhaps, following a strong leader who showed them who was responsibile for their personal failures. I realize from your many posts, you are blinded to the similarities ...doesn't mean they don't exist. Perhaps if enough people had stood up and 'slammed' them for their small minded support and service the world would have not been subjected to the horrors of the Third Reich. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

That's reason enough for me. We have not been good custodians of our planet. Figures, that is the easy way out. Just say, "I care". As far as your custodians comment? bull shit So, just for clarification, in addition to specifically rejecting the whole global warming thing, you believe we are treating our planet well? No problem with air and water pollution and the decreasing percentage of arable land? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

That's our poster's Quick Step dance...now let's see what our Irony Judges think: 8! 9! 8! Total Irony Score ....25!!!!! Dont you get tired of loosing your loose arguments? Argument???? I'm not responding to your round the bend, over the top, blinding ideolgical statements. My comment was that not all the 'deniers' could be dismissed as what you refer to as "stupid nut cases" (a statement I found terribly judgmental). Some (particularly those who are ...um, less than forthcoming with the fact that they work for a major polluting industry) are self serving and could easily be viewed as masking their concerns over employment security behind BS and pseudo-science. Any reasonable person would concede this possibility. Then I noted that being in one category does not preclude membership in the other. Surely you can't realistically disagree that one could reside in both categories. Your failure to appreciate the irony of your comments as you tear into Kallend, for example, is humorous in the abstract and sad in application to actual human behavior. Other than not sharing my 'world view', what exactly did you disagree with? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Not all are stupid nut cases. Some work for industries that produce large amounts of pollution. Their denials should be read as self-serving BS motivated by a fear of losing their jobs. Theoretically, however, I suppose one could be both. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

I'm sure glad you enjoy Billvon's posts. I often learn something from them.
