Irony score 10.0 On a scale of 1 to 8! ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Hey when you set up a puppet govenment.. you get to pull the strings.. From your link... incase they will not click on it because its not on the approved reading list.... Saddam Hussein verdict postponed until two days before U.S. election: Will the media turn a skeptical eye? Summary: While it cannot definitively be said that the reason the senior Iraqi court in charge of Saddam Hussein's trial postponed its verdict in the case until two days before the November elections so that it would influence the midterms, the postponement suggests several obvious questions, including, most importantly: Given the Bush administration's history of timing national security-related actions to the political calendar, has the date for the verdict's release been set to provide maximum political benefit for the administration and congressional Republicans? They're saving the 'Orange Alerts' for the presidential elections. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

It's an unfair comparison. Accusations of Saddam trying to destroy America were false. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

That's about as credible as "I tried pot once or twice but didn't inhale, and didn't enjoy it", and "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." Oh, but that's different. Somehow. Ah, yes. The BCDIF defense. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Yeah, they're trying to play catch-up with the Dems so that there really IS no difference between the parties. Still a way to go, though... maybe they should put cordons around Rock Creek Park and Chappaquiddick.... What?!?!?! Clinton got a blowjob, you say?!?!?!?! ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Neo Cons and those same patrician class like the Bushes who expect to get rich without doing the work of building a country for all the american people. Sending off american jobs so they can reap huge rewards in salaries in bonuses.. that has taken the american dream away from a large number of americans.... It stems from the self serving.. rather than serving America. Let's see... the Dems raise taxes on businesses... businessess, being driven by the bottom line, outsource jobs overseas... and this is somehow Bush's fault?. Clinton got what?!?!?! A blowjob?!?!?! Do you have a cite for that??? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Thank-you, I'll accept that as a Personal Attack. They attacked us long before we did any waterboarding. Perhaps getting your facts straight before responding would be beneficial in the future. Or not if that suits you. - I don't see it as anywhere near a PA. Rather, it is a reasonable (moderate, even) interpretation of the views you repeatedly express. If you are going to be it, own it! Perhaps, but at least they are MY views and not plagerized from another source like some people we know. -

Wow. Hadn't thought of that. 'Course, I never used the word "obscene", either, nor passed judgment. Just made the observation that there are things that give indications about a person when they post that perhaps they don't realize. Ciels- Michele Ain't it the truth?

is an apt description. Troops have to have their email, telephone, CNN, etc...

I did my hitch and have spent 15 years since then supporting military comms in remote locations. So, I guess that makes me even more qualified to call bullshit, doesn't it? It seems you attempt the allusion of a lonely soldier, putting himself in harms way, standing a post to make our country safe. What is you do, exactly? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

Would that be before, or after, the esteemed counselor was a U.S. Army officer? It's ok..we'll wait while you turn around and pull your head out... The Army paid for college, he had to give them some time. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

The Goal was to remove Saddam Hussein from power and establish a Democracy in the M.E. That's not changed. Whatever justifications and tactics used to accomplish that goal are another issue. - REVISIONIST! Squirming doesn't become you. Not true! Squirming looks quite good on him. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

They were trying to apprehend (and murder) someone who (from what they knew) had broken no laws, then attempted to cover it up (based on their own testimony). "The evidence was un-controverted [uncontroverted: not disputed or opposed] that, at the time the victim was shot, neither agent knew whether the driver was illegally in the United States or whether a crime had been committed." So a pot smuggler gets a pass to get two sworn officers who attempted to murder someone who (as far as they knew at the time) had broken no laws. If the border patrol is demoralized because of this, then we have a much larger problem than this case. Seems a realistic tradeoff to me. Why is this pill so hard for you to swallow? ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

On 22 Dec my parents will have been married for 50 years. They're going back to where they went on honeymoon to celebrate. I believe love can be forever. t No disrespect to your parents but longevity of a relationship doesn't say anything about love or the quality of the relationship. Just means that, for whatever reasons, they stayed together. Love? Possibly. It could just as easily be pathology, a perceived lack of viable options or fear to face the uncertainty of change that keeps couples together. My mom tells me of one woman she has treated regularly over the years in the ER after being beaten by her husband. They've been married for over 30 years. ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/lawenforcement/policeintegrity/chapter1.htm ***Law enforcement officers are authorized to use deadly force only when it is reasonable and necessary to protect the officer or others from an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to the officer or another person Well I suppose they could use the 12 guage loaded with birdshot or an appropriate small shot. It would take him down without killing him (unless it was real close). Why should they risk ambush by chasing him into the desert if they can just take him down (provided they give him a warning). Choice and consequence. If he does not want a doctor picking buckshot out of his ass then he should stop running when told to do so. These smugglers can get quite violent when pursued so why should the border patrol risk it? Richards They gave him a choice, he attempted to surrender with hands in the air. One officer attempted to beat him with the butt of his shotgun (missed, slipped and fell on his face). The guy ran away, they tried to kill him, then tried to cover it up. The only crime the officers were aware of at this point was failure to stop his vehicle. "This office did not prosecute the defendants because they had violated Border Patrol policies. They were prosecuted because they had fired their weapons at a man who had attempted to surrender, but, while his open hands were held in the air, Agent Compean attempted to hit the man with the butt of his shotgun. In fear of what the agents would do to him next, the man ran away from the agents, who then fired at least 15 rounds at him, although they had seen his open hands and knew that he was not holding a weapon and had no reason to think that he had a weapon, hitting him once causing serious bodily injury. The references to policies are made only to demonstrate that had the defendants believed that the shooting was justified, there was no reason for them to conceal it from supervisors and remove evidence from the scene. The laws of the United States make it a crime for law enforcement officers to use excessive force in apprehending suspects. It is a violation of any person’s Constitutional rights to shoot at them after they have attempted to surrender, knowing that they are unarmed and pose no danger to the officers or anyone else. " ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".

"According to testimony, Compean swung his shotgun around in an attempt to hit Aldrete-Davila with the butt of his weapon, but lost his footing and fell face down into the dirt and brush." http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/txw/press_releases/2006/Sutton%20statement%20re%20compean%20and%20ramos%20conviction.pdf Your version ("The smuggler beat up one of the officers") seems a bit ...well,dishonest. In addition: "At the time of the shooting, neither agent Compean nor agent Ramos knew that the van driven by Aldrete-Davila contained 743 pounds of marijuana. The evidence was un-controverted that, at the time the victim was shot, neither agent knew whether the driver was illegally in the United States or whether a crime had been committed. The only information they had was that the driver had failed to pull over to be identified." ----------------------- "O brave new world that has such people in it".
