  1. off topic and i was about to say without even the sky... but they did have a (very low) jet flyover before the game. it was brilliant :) ..been trying unsuccessfully to find a video clip of it online... attempts to do SA accents have generally been terrible, will be interesting to see this one. i'm english not afrikaans btw, but with an accent still very different from an american !! 2. Sensitive?? was 95 btw. haven't seen the movie but the reviews i've read have been good. that was one amazing world cup - it really did unite the country, and i'd be amazed if the film can actually capture the feeling of the time but we'll see. at the time i lived in a very busy part of jhb and on a saturday afternoon, while the final was on i heard exactly one car go past. i hate rugby, but even i watched the last 15 minutes of the game. oh, and francois pienaar wishes he looked like matt damon 377 - you do make me laugh! 3. Statistically unlikely is one thing, actual occurrence is another. How statistically likely is it that someone will win the lottery - but people do? How statistically likely is it to get struck by lightning in the same place twice - yet people do? Perhaps more appropriate, how statistically likely is it that a skydiver will hit the only obstacle in a huge field - but they do? Snow, the tie pin theory - surely someone in the FBI, especially those who thought McCoy was Cooper, would have put 2 +2 together on the tie pin? Do you think maybe Chevron Man was Cooper? Duane wanted to blackmail him? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  4. Gee..it's sometimes hard catching up here at day's end. 377, your ..um, naiviete or should i say good faith in a list of suspects from Jo is probably misplaced. Who do you think she's going to give you? Hey, maybe you will finally discover the mysterious night clerk in china... actually exists! now wouldn't that be a surprise? maybe then we could even start believing that no-one has ever lied in a sworn statement (or whatever you call them there). baby o has not been to a dz yet.. however, although she usually ignores the TV when it's on in the background, she has been fascinated by one particular commercial featuring birds and has started flapping her arms in imitation of flight when she sees it. what can i say, i guess it's in the blood
  5. Jeez, am I the only person left on this thread whose avatar actually has the poster in it?? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  6. ??? You're in America, aren't you? Why don't you just sue? Side note: I flew to Pretoria (and back) today. No-one tried to hijack either plane. There is already a billboard up as you drive into the city limits to welcome the first 3 teams (Brazil, USA and Italy) to play there. And a huge soccer ball on the telecoms tower, just begging for someone to jump off it. Hey, did DB Cooper do any BASE, I wonder? 377 re "the economy is so bad..." 7. Skywhuffo, we posted about Cooley a while back. 377.. seatbelts are for cars Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. Oh, there are conspiracy theories about the draw too. Maybe we should link those guys up with ...um, certain posters here. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. +1 Georger, I understand your frustration but am tired of the long rambling posts that get posted in response to your rebuttals! You have to understand, there is no logic in the responses, so trying to be logical is not going to help. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. Excellent Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  11. Ya...and it's interesting that Jo won't even tell her story to people who are only too willing to swallow conspiracy theories..or, seeing as she has now spread her net so much further afield than skydivers, to someone who might "know" something. Well done Georger by the way for calling her bluff on the photo. (I was leaning towards the Lone Ranger, myself...) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. That got me laughing out loud!! Classic! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  13. Ah..yes, OK. I had assumed because Cooper did it first the scenario was unlikely..but your sketch is a perfectly reasonable chain of events. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  14. I didn't read the post but it looks like a couple of hundred words, when all that would have sufficed would have been one letter for the appropriate option. I'm guessing the question wasn't answered ... and this forum is getting sidetracked by jo/duane again unfortunately. the notion that mccoy may have known cooper is intriguing... but it is mccoy who got caught for talking, not cooper. why would cooper have blabbed to mccoy when he was clearly good at keeping his mouth shut, and why wouldn't mccoy have given him up after he was arrested? 15. In other words, you are so desperate that you will look for anything at all that might somehow have a tenuous connection to a connection to another connection to someone who once lived somewhere in the US sometime in the 20th century? If you want out the box, how about Cooper was an alien? Explains why he disappeared without trace and certainly sounds more reasonable than some of the theories we have heard... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. Of course I'm sure you realize, as probably everyone except Jo does, that the "burned" in Ckret's post that she was harping on about is 99.9999% likely to have been a typo when he meant to type "buried". Most people (without agendas) recognize a mistake like that when they see ut. (Or does anyone think I was actually referring to someone called "Ut" there? ...btw that was a genuine typo, then I just decided not to correct it to prove a pint.) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. You really are something else. If someone from the FBI had been consistently promising to reveal "the truth" and never delivering, then I would. You can't deflect it that easily Jo. The day you come up with something tangible, I guarantee you everyone here will give you credit...but after years of unfulfilled promises we have come to know it's never going to happen. The definition of a rational person in economics is, basically, someone who learns from their mistakes. It would be completely irrational for anyone here to actually believe you do have something concrete to deliver. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  18. Promises, promises. Once again Jo can't reveal the key evidence now but will soon. Yawn... This is ridiculous Jo. Really. If you have evidence publish it. You keep promising the moon and delivering absolutely nothing. You are hopelessly addicted to the tease. I guess it focuses attention on you. I can't think of any other reason you repeat the behavior over and over. It turned me from a sympathetic protector to a harsh critic. Sluggo too. Sigh. 377 This is true Jo, and your dramatic "want to be alive" responses don't wash with anyone here. Why? Because we have had - what - 2 years of being promised imminent revelations. All we get are more wild goose chases and stupendous leaps of imagination in joining dots ...dots that might not even be there in the first place. Your latest supposed response does not explain the past 2 years of revelations that have disappeared. There is only one logical explanation: you have nothing. This is also the only logical explanation for your continued hounding of the FBI because they won't act as your personal detective agency. Do you know the saying put up or shut up? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Farflung - LOL! Snow, the USA cover-up evidently hasn't extended to the internet. Quick, print that link out before all the related evidence mysteriously... disappears. I know that the FBI can go through the net and remove all traces of evidences. It's true, I read it on the internet. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. er, i'm not sure what this has to do with Cooper. Was it put there to provoke me into responding? We have the "Cradle of humankind"
  21. Hey all, happy thanksgiving ...not something we do here (though halloween has been increasingly adopted)... jerry, hope you are holding up well 377, you sure tried long enough! georger, at least smokejumpers is something that has a reasonable chance of being related and it's not ...THAT topic imagine if galen cook really DOES find the money does anyone know what the population of mississippi was in the 1960s by any chance...? (I'm presuming it wasn't that small that 2 arbitrary guys would have automatically met) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. more (+ a pic, in case anyone wants to compare ) http://www.voanews.com/specialenglish/2009-11-23-voa2.cfm Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. Vern covered everything south of Ecuador, down to Argentina. He ended badly. He had jumping experience, but evidently only with parachutes. Here's to Vern! (he liked to be called Verm...short for Vermin) I thought Vern ended up in Salt lake city, wearing chevrons on his blazers and blaming everyone else for everything. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  24. Snow, you can do what you want with your religion...as long as all the adults who join it realise they take responsibility for their own decisions and don't turn around after the fact and blame you for wasting their 3/13/whatever years... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
