  1. There you go, proof positive (a first for this thread?! ) that Snow has a heart of gold
  2. See, now, if you have cats they can curl up on your lap or between you and the chairback, and you can work and still feel like a good pet-parent as they lie there purring Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  3. Just exposed yourself there Jo. Everyone knows it is a very low blow to try make someone feel bad about being a parent. I called you out on saying you lied to protect people when you (anyone) don't need to lie to protect anyone - you can just, for example, keep quiet. In fact using your very own example: No, of course I wouldn't repeat it. That is not at all the same as lying. And that is precisely the point I was trying to make. If the best defense you can come up with for your actions is to try make me feel like a bad friend or mother -- well, that says a lot more about you than it does about me. 4. I think I'm gonna watch the movie again this weekend
  5. yup... Jo's story is out, as is Gossett and his safe deposit box, as is Christiansen and his suddenly coming into money. (Jo predictably latched onto the briefcase and ignored the shards; you don't need the briefcase to explain the shards.) ooh ooh ooh Jo said thin edge of the wedge, grey area, etc etc. lies are lies. you didn't need to tell any lies to protect anyone Jo; after all there were plenty of times you simply claimed not to release info to protect people. i am afraid i am with georger on this one. your story had no credibility anyway; admission of lies just underscores that. ----- 377 - came across the LORAN story somewhere, possibly Boston Globe site - it probably wouldn't have caught my eye, except the mention of fishing boats made me think of you ---- Snow - I didn't think much of the movie The Princess Bride, but I adore the book - haven't read it for years but I think I must have read it 10 or 15 times before then ...and then your quote (or Ckret's quote) from it (ref the Sicilian) makes me think of that classic exchange in (my favourite movie) True Romance, which involved Dennis Hopper... --- Ooh, I have just come across Jo's post lambasting Ckret. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? He always acted highly professionally and patiiently with you even though you acted precisely the opposite. I think Obsessive Grudge is a very true characterisation. The truth hurts sometimes, Jo. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  6. Hey Bruce, thanks for the cameo and all the info. FBI going after Petersen would be very interesting - because it would show that the investigation did range quite far. Unless Petersen is just saying this to try throw Bruce off his trail. Has the 1000-odd list of suspects ever been published so we can cross-check? The briefcase bit is also very interesting, and even if he somehow got that bit wrong, the bits about all the shards of money definitely adds a new dimension to the money find. It also corroborates yesterday's discussion about most or all, rather than just some, of the money ending up in the river. As for the briefcase vs money bag... who knows. We only have Tina's word for the moneybag around the waist story IIRC. I don't think she would have had reason to lie, but people make honest mistakes - what if she didn't see what she thought she saw? Or, what if he tried to do it that way, gave it up as a bad job and then tied the briefcase to himself without her seeing that bit? etc As for Ckret knowing or not knowing about the bits of briefcase, I mean, it's entirely possible that stuff got lost. The cigarette butts got lost. The case has been ongoing for nearly 40 years when other stuff has been more important and case officers have looked at it on an as-and-when basis. The stuff may well be somewhere in the evidence lockers, misclassified, misplaced, whatever ... pre computer age it must all have been harder to keep track of too. 377, did you see the news about them doing away with LORAN? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  7. Georger is simply trumping up Cooks book and you guys are eating right out of his hand. Don't you know these 2 guys talk all of the time. (edited to remove a bunch more rubbish). Ive had enough of your bullshit and have deleted my/ the whole post. Satisfied now? You trully are a spoiler! Once again the thread has been ground to a hault by the infamous JO WEBER and unless we vacate this place in favour of someplace you cant go, we wont even be able to speak our minds here - Just think of all the good things you are going to be missing now, Jo. You just fucked yourself! georger, please, just ignore those posts.. she's trying to goad you, and she's succeeding. don't read what she says, keep on posting ... she is the only person here who believes what she says, whether about duane or whether about you being a plant (tho whether you are a plant of the FBI, CIA or Cook she seems to get a bit confused) calm down, take a big breath, & don't read posts that certain posters post! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. If the money bag got separated, doesn't mean he drowned. And if no-one connected the dots...well, I have discovered that there seem to be a lot of people clueless about what's going on in the news, and that was probably even more true in pre-internet days. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. If -- there was more money found by the FBI and if -- there was indeed a lot more destroyed by dredging - then the argument becomes a very different one; it starts sounding like most or all, rather than just a bit, of the money landed in the river. 377 thinks Ckret has been holding something back to test for the true Cooper. Maybe this is it. Maybe this is why he thinks Cooper died. Or maybe this is why stories about people who suddenly seemed to have a lot more disposable income didn't sway him. This is an possibility I think we have mentioned: Cooper survived, but lost the money. Without the money, he returned to normal life in his normal way. Nothing for anyone to notice - no new big spending, no disappearing to Mexico, etc. Talking of which, Cooper originally wanted to go to Mexico, right? Who's to say he didn't? Also a nice place to launder dollars, should he have (a) survived, (b) kept the money and (c) gone there. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. The Nigerians were pretty pissed off! They have a bad reputation locally in terms of crime so I guess the movie kind of took that stereotype and ran with it. Kind of odd if you consider the message of the movie, but maybe it was another layer of meaning ... or maybe not. Nigeria upset: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8264180.stm look for the para talking about "Little Lagos" in here: http://www.vanityfair.com/online/oscars/2009/08/qa-district-9-director-neill-blomkamp.html Baby O is doing exceptionally well
  11. 377, glad you enjoyed District 9. Did you get the "one prawn one bullet" line btw? I got shown a link to this website the other day. It has nothing to do with the Cooper case (I think), but it is a great example of how people will manipulate stuff and see what isn't there to fit in with a preconceived idea ... and then go on to draw all sorts of conclusions from that http://www.godsgeography.com/ Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. Well, duh, Clapton. But I wasn't aware he was connected to the case. Is "Layla" actually about Tina, not Patti Harrison then? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  13. old thread is only locked for posting, not for reading. I believe someone has a link to it on the first page of this thread. I saw one of Jo's posts start with "i searched the old thread..." .. i might discount that if i were you - as Jo has claimed time and again that she is no good at searching these forums... anyway good luck. you might chuckle a bit when you see someone called Orange1 who was very helpful to the OP earlier on in that thread. also read some of the other stuff - awsee (brenda) on mayfield, and some other stuff from a couple of guys you may recognise from other cooper threads. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  14. Love it. A friend has my copy, must get it back and look at that sequence again :) I have the one with some of the 'behind the scenes' stuff and it was really interesting to see how scared the guys were about the plane-to-plane jump (I mean rightly so, but it wasn't at all obvious from the clip) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  15. Yeah..look some people should not be allowed to jump, but sometimes they seem really together until they take that leap. Anyway as for "hell vids" .. i mean, it's a bit like your newspaper doesn't run a headline of "98000 cars drove without incident today"... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  16. hey twardo...nice to see you round with you and amazon here this feels almost like a 'real" dz forum at the moment Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. Ah, I see. Not sure how common it was as a phrase? i seem to remember it from the movies. But you are right, it is at least as connected as most of the other discussion! And congrats on the grandfather stuff
  18. Indeed. 2 hours or so on a trip to Orlando, when i got back our DZO stood in for one of our 4-way team who was ill on a couple of jumps. Afterwards he kept saying to me "you only have 85 jumps? how can you fly like that with 85 jumps?! i couldn't fly like that with 400 jumps" and very soon thereafter packed his son, who then had just got his A, off on a tunnel trip Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  19. Hangdiver, you're forgiven for not reading every post in the thread and realising we have discussed this already. In fact that exact quote may have been reproduced. edit: I certainly ref'd the site you did. Do a bit more search eg smokejumper.com and it is common knowledge that smokejumpers were recruited for Air America and other CIA ops in Asia in their "off" season. Snow is conveniently forgetting the angle that Cooper as loadmaster or kicker (as many of the smokejumpers were when they worked for Air American in Asia in the offseason) means that this remains a very relevant angle. Which could also explain the choice of rig. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. Simple reason why i won't jump with Snow... because he probably still won't have done even 1 freefall (solo) by then, much less have an A (or whatever the US reg is to jump with someone else). I'll jump with 377, or any other jumpers on this thread, if they'll forgive my low jump numbers (I'm told I jump well for my jump numbers, but they are still a fraction of some other posters here)... or maybe i'll just do 4 hours tunnel time first. Off topic: any investors interested in a wind tunnel in SA, let me know. (Serious by the way -- plan is there but we need money, people. Hey Snow, Snowwman Industries would find the cost small change?) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  21. But you must be. Why else do you not take everything she says at face value?? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. Nigel: re Mae West... just like Snow shouldn't assume 80yrs + people can't use email, you shouldn't assume a younger generation has no general knowledge about the 20th century pre...say, the Cooper hijacking. Everyone: if Jo ever posts something that actually is considered proof, or otherwise might be important to the case, please let me know, because I simply cannot read those long rambling posts anymore. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. But Jo is right. She was talking about herself. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  24. what an ageist remark!! are you saying all old people are too dumb/senile/technologically backward/whatever to use email?? Cooper would be what, say 85 if he was mid-40s at the time of the hijack? I know 85-year olds who use email! Heck, I know 85-year olds who have Facebook accounts Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
