Great :) Get wierd al jankovich to record it and sell it at the annual DB Cooper fest, etc Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

yup. my opinion re suit and tie is was very common back in those days -- look at the pics of woodward and bernstein as an example ... how many journalists wear ties to work as a matter of course these days?! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

ok - i say this as joe soap looking at the pictures not as someone who examines minutely - - basic face shape and lips seem right - ears and hairline seem wrong - what makes the sketch look so good? The glasses ... same issue as the Cooper sketches - the focus always seem to end up on very generic (at the time) spectacle styles which seems to take attention away from actual facial features. Not sure about your conclusions re the FBI - to me the fact that the FBI never interviewed him shows one key thing: that they indeed probably did not range as far as Asia in their suspects. If a suspect wasn't in the US, he was out of the line of fire. So maybe your guy wasn't Cooper (did anyone ever get hold of him btw to ask him his opinion on Cooper - I don't recall?) but it still leaves well alive the possibility that if Cooper was hiding out in Asia he would have made it out of reach of FBI. (Plus the enticing option of all those dollar bills being happily accepted out there without being checked by US banks...) And I hear you and Georger saying in the background, just because the theory is good doesn't mean it fits. Sure. But to me it does present a big avenue that wasn't explored. Incidentally, there was a post by Gosset's son a few weeks ago on a facebook page and he seems as convinced as ever that his father was Cooper. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I'm very interested

Rubbish. He said he could not find a record of the supposed book that the supposed clerk at your supposed hotel showed him. Not the same thing at all. HA! HA! HA! talk about the pot calling the kettle black. especially regarding a story about a supposed hotel sighting the night before! LOL. best laugh on this forum in a long time. As long as people agree with you, you mean? Every time someone 'new' has arrived you have immediately accused them of being in it to write a book/make money. How polite and courteous were you to Larry Carr, despite his unbelievably unfailing polite approach to you? You didn't even reciprocate that. Judge Judy? Care to examine the evidence? I believe it was simply 'artistic license' because you know these days $200K doesn't sound like it's worth getting your entire body tattooed and sent to jail for. (Though the suspension of disbelief required in the show was such that I'm not sure why they bothered changing it!!) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Hey, seeing as we are in the fantasy realm anyway, here's the description of the hijack from prison break. The amount was increased (inflation i guess ) but who's to say the rest of it isn't as likely a hypothesis as anything else that has been presented here? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Her blog has some bits tagged "family in Oregon". Again just skimmed so far but her mother's name was Lucy May Pinkerton. http://prairiemary.blogspot.com/search/label/Family%20in%20Oregon Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I think just Jo's way of saying things... like her term "dislusional". Howzit Jerry - family all well thanks, hope you and Shelly good too

I'm presuming Jo's threats of legal action have about as much substance as her promises of revelations/evidence. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Interesting. I've seen an NBER (I think it was) study on family violence. (Goes up when a home team loses a big game, by the way.) I think I posted ages ago another study on criminality. I wonder if there has been anything ever done specifically on plane hijackings...not sure if they could get a big enough sample to isolate specific factors. I sometimes think this entire thread is predicated on not revealing information Hey Snow tell me - and I am serious now: has the FBI ever proved that you aren't Cooper? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Yeah, you all forget cos it was so long ago, but i was once 'in Jo's camp' too... Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Cooper didnt hit a specific landing target, why should we have to? Well we don't KNOW that for sure!! (just like everything else about the case) Amazon, I personally think your idea is great. But I'd be the wuss that insists on jumping a square I'm afraid Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Interesting story. Made it clicky: http://www.ajc.com/business/airtran-hero-wasn-t-226517.html Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I found some stats on hijacking. Several major studies were done in South Afrika during the revolt period. Other studies come from the US. Let me cite a few statistics from a Maine study, which may be a little surprising. I can provide links to these studies for anyone interested, and there are further studies available through government links.. 98% male. 90% from marginalized circumstances. 90% white or from the race dominant class. 75% under age 30 20% (30-33) 5% over 40 60% have criminal background/records 78% unmarried 67% have 12th grade or better education. 80% go back to their places of residence after the HJing. 47-60% semi employed or unemployed. 73% no military training. Months most vulnerable: + Jan-Aug Months least vulnerable: Nov-Dec Least=Dec. Days most vulnerable: Fridays 2x all other days. 96% of all HJers were armed. Most often stated motive: economic. Next most stated motive: political-personal. Planning period most often stated: up to a year or more. Less than 2% spontaneous. Nice work Georger. Do we have any idea where the 20% of hijackers who don't go home afterwards, do go to?? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

Lots of people disappear. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_who_disappeared_mysteriously#1970s Interesting list (you can scroll up and down for before and after the 70s). Another interesting example is Lord Lucan (you Americans do know who he was, right?) Massive manhunt, real photos with no sketchy ID to go on etc etc.. and yet he was never found. Hmm.. that's an assumption. Let's think this through: maybe Cooper thought that his chances of real escape were better if the Feds had no clue where he jumped ... if they thought they had to search the entire route it would have taken much longer, and then fanning out from there would take longer still. (Especially if he was about to hop on a plane to Asia... the longer the Feds were delayed the better?) A key question here is how well Cooper knew the 727 tests and specifically if he knew about the pressure bump. If he was 'just' a jumper... well, I wouldn't have guessed you could feel a jumper leaving from a plane that large. So maybe he didn't think they knew where he had jumped, and maybe he did take a bit of a time to bury it deeply. After all he probably knew he had a bit of time to cover his tracks properly. If he landed near (not in) water, maybe he even put rocks in the rig and submerged it? Yup, indeed. Or if you were in the army in Nam and your colleagues in SE Asia thought you had finally had enough and gone AWOL into Canada or something... Or your relatives in the US might have thought you had disappeared into the jungle... remember i posted that list a while ago - there are still many soldiers missing from the war? Of course, these could explain either a death or a 'disappearance'. I still think there is a good chance the rest of those dollar bills got circulated outside the US. And remember, these were days before major luggage searches etc. It could have been easy as slinging them into a holdall and taking them as cabin baggage. This DB Cooper case must be hugely significant. I mean, the US government can't even cover up the dirty deeds or pecadillos of presidents while they are in office (Watergate, Clinton/Monica ...) ... yet somehow they have managed to keep Cooper covered up with nary a deep throat for nearly 40 years. Incredible. Unless... wait! I've got it! Chuck Norris was DB Cooper Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

When will it be known? Without evidence, this is just a tease. You keep promising to produce evidence but it never comes, just more teases. Everyone is tired of this Jo. You are so predictable. Suprise us sometime. 377 I actually read the post you responded to and I am sorry to say that I am now certain, beyond 100% even, not that Duane was Cooper but that his widow is completely deluded. It is very sad. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

I thought I had told you about this incident... I guess not. Very sad day. Quite a few news articles in the local press. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

haha...like i said i didn't watch most of the 95 final.. they had skydivers jumping into the stadium beforehand ...see, everything is connected after all!! a very brief snippet of the landing (trailing smoke, does that make him a smokejumper? )seen at the beginning of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M7a7AG7PkA (and francois pienaar at 2.16 bearing not much resemblance to matt damon) bad quality and from the wrong angle, short clip of the flyover at 1.20 on here, but i'm tired of searching and getting 'invictus' hits.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU-Zxhd-nPU Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
