  2. man, nobody in the politica; system today would vote that into law.....wait a minute, it sounds familiar.......nope, sounds familiar, but it sure ain't observed around this country _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  3. you can't fight the system without money. if you ain't got money, you ain't shit in this country, and most of the world. and there's that nutso stink hippie thing, i don't want to be called that. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  4. because it took them this long to dig it up. the pres is worried. he started a counter protest(or someone did it for him), and now he is worried that something may come out of this if he doesn't diffuse the situation. again, it may be his advisors, or press agents or someone close to him, but it is connected to him. now, don't get me wrong, i'm not a democrat, i didn't like clinton either(on some things). i'm not saying anyone else could do better, probably not, in fact. it's the system that's broke, it got corrupted years ago and there's no end in sight without a major overhaul. and since the people in power like it that way, we'll never see it in our lifetime. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  5. http://news.yahoo.com/s/usatoday/20050819/tc_usatoday/nanotechresearchersreportbigbreakthrough A sheet made from nanotubes, tiny carbon tubes only a few times bigger than atoms with remarkable strength and electronic properties. In today's edition of the journal Science, however, scientists from the University of Texas and Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization report the creation of industry-ready sheets of materials made from nanotubes. Nanotubes are tiny carbon tubes with remarkable strength that are only a few times wider than atoms. They can also act as the semiconductors found in modern electronics. Science The same sheet, emitting polarized light after the voltage is applied through incandescent heating. "This is fundamentally a new material," says team leader Ray Baughman of the University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson. • Self-supporting, transparent and stronger than steel or high-strength plastics, the sheets are flexible and can be heated to emit light. • A square mile of the thinnest sheets, about 2-millionths-of-an-inch thick, would weigh only about 170 pounds. • In lab tests, the sheets demonstrated solar cell capabilities, using sunlight to produce electricity. this is certainly promising. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  6. i hear this connotation a lot, but i never hear the one about the germans. except from a jewish friend while i was in the army in germany. think about the expensive mercedes and bmw people view as a status symbol, and remember that they were the leading producers of tanks in ww2 for the germans. and by the way, not much has changed since then really, they made the best tanks then, and thats where we got the basic design for our m1. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  7. you are forgetting one major point: the bad actions of a few will definately have more impact than the good actions af all the rest. the reason is that is what will be paraded around on the news and by insurgents. right now there are more than a million heart wrenching stories of great actions by americans, but the only place you hear about them is the occaisional emailed story from a friend. and as for the soldiers bringing democracy to iraq: what a load of crap. it is not our business how the people of iraq want to live. their way of life leans away from a democracy. just because we think it works for us, where do we get off telling the rest of the world what to do? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  8. that is easy....there was no real counter protest, someone made a phone call and this led to bunch of politicians thinking, and their way of dealing with it was to stage a counter protest down the street. the counter protest was all staged, none of it is real. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  9. i'm not talking about people using them for anything, i'm talking about an idiot with a railroad spike derailing a shipment of chlorine in a city somewhere. i've seen ww2 leaflets dropped by us to the resistance in france showing how to derail a train with a railroad spike and other means of sabotage(sp). there is even less of a chance to protect the railways than trying to protect the highways. at least hazmat trucks use the outer belts around cities, trains go right through. i'm thinking that a couple of tank cars of chlorine rupturing in a downtown area the size of cleveland would be a major strike opportunity. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  10. check it out: use diesel engines with a kit to run from soy bean oil and grow it yourself. how much more environmentally friendly is that? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  11. what about rail travel? i live in wv, and the shit that gets shipped in tankers is scary. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  12. while i'm not going to quote the whole thing, amen brother. however, my theory, after reading a lot about string theory, says that if your body is made up of all those strings, and your soul is energy which is released when you die, means that it may choose to reincarnate or not. it borrows from different religions, and it may not be correct, but for a little while longer anyway, it's my right to believe it. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  15. you are clearly reading more into the reply than the words express. the reason i say not just christian/jewish symbols is because the 10 commandments are representatve of both religions. have you heard of a statue of buddha in a govt building? no, and i'm sure you won't. how about a pentacle? no again. when the govt displays any symbol of a religion, they need to be open minded about displaying symbols of all religions that are requested to be placed there. and another thing, since when is the govt correct in granting christmas and easter as holidays, when i damn sure can't get a paid day off to celebrate the solstices? that is clearly overstepping any bounds, but since the majority of the people are wrong in this country, it'll never happen and religious equality will never happen. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  16. yes, i put that in on purpose. the reason i used the 2d, and not the 4th amendment(illegal search), is that it is one of the most commonly known. and, like i said, if they put up more than just the christialn and/or jewish symbols, then no it doesn't amount to endorsing any religion. like billvon said, it'll never happen. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  17. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050812/ap_on_go_co/sept_11_hijackers_22 just another coincidence to add to the overflowing pot of them. how many coincidences do you need to see in order to think that there may be more to them than just a coincidence? one or even five is acceptable to me, but i have seen over 2 dozen. some may be drivel, so if you cut that # in half, that leaves too many for me to accept. i once had a bumper sticker on my truck that said "i love my country but i fear my government". i stand by that statement to this day. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  18. that was a little thing on my part to show how people basically "can't see the forest for the trees". i tought for sure lawrocket would catch it, that's why it was directed straight to him. i can't believe it went that long before someone caught it. aside from that, i remain firm in my stance that just because there is a 10 commandment plaque in a statehouse in no way endorses one religion over another, as long as, and this is very important, another equally significant religious symbol is allowed beside it. ok people, this time read the bill of rights, and the constitution, and see if you can understand it. or do you need a bunch of lawyers to tell you what it really means? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  19. the news i read about this said he was known for a year prior to the attacks, not two. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050812/ap_on_go_co/sept_11_hijackers_22 i tried to make a clicky. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  20. i seem to recall (but i may be wrong) the wife saying she knew it was really him due to the caller id showing his #. and that 'magic bullet' used in the jfk assasination really came from oswald acting alone. and don't forget to leave the milk and cookies out on 24 dec..... _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  21. billvon: read it, found it entertaining. lawrocket: your reply is a perfect example of how lawyers have taken (somewhat) simple document and twisted it around until only a lawyer can interpret it's meaning. this is the same thing as a minister telling me what the bible says. i can read the words myself. your post pretty much proves this point, the part about different people getting the same tests, but different conclusions. i'm not stupid, and i'm pretty good at reading comprehension. i've read the 2d amendment, along with the rest of the constitution, and it's pretty cut and dried. take for example the ban on gay marriage. from my point of view (and i'm not a lawyer, thankfully), this would be unconstitutional. that is using a religious stance to determine what a citizen wants to do that is not harming anybody. the part that really ticks me off about lawyers screwing with the constitution is the 10th amendment, the states right thing. if the state of ca wants to let its citizens use medical mj to help with their illnesses, screw the us govt, it's none of their business. but i digress. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  23. if you are going to go with that implied bs, then you're clearly going to use the accepted societal values of the country today, and that is shameful. anyone can make a reasonable case about what is implied, but we just don't have the same outlook that was used in the framing of the constitution. if the founding fathers were alive today, they would be really old. seriously, though, they would be ashamed at the abonimation that the govt turned into: the very thing that they had just got done fighting. there are certain values that were lost in the past 200 years or so, some good, some bad. as long as people have this frame of mind, we are in serious trouble. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  24. in response to the seperation thing(2d ammendment), i think everyone needs to read it a little better. it does not say anything about "seperation of the church and state", and lawrocket i'm surprised that you didn't catch this. it says that the "govt shall make no laws respecting any religion over another" or something to that effect. meaning as i take it, there shall be no govt sponsored religion, or that the govt can't stop any one religion from having the same rights as any others. it says nothing about there shall be no religion in the govt, hence the motto in god we trust on our currency. i am not a christian, and have no problem with prayer in school, creationism, or the 10 commandments in a govt building. what makes me sick is when people have no respect for my beliefs, and cases like the one i read about where the pagan priestess was not put on the list to open a govt meeting with rabbis, ministers, and preists. that is clearly a violation of the 2d ammendment. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  25. i'm not sure of the altitude restriction, but i was present on a c-17 flying at 1500 ft agl in ut during a jumprun where the jm had to call the dz on a cell phone to get them to turn on the radio so they could let us jump. they had gotten there late and we were put on a racetrack while they set the dz up. then on a flight from omaha to charleston on a commercial jet, i tried my cell at altitude. it had no signal from the time i turned it on(while still climbing, about 5 min after takeoff) until we were under 2000 ft preparing to land. i did this to see if it really were possible for that dude to have called his wife to say that now familiar catch phrase "let's roll" before the plane went down. i say it was impossible and that there is a lot more to this so called "theory" than will ever be known by the masses. and for anyone familiar with al bundy, that was his famous quote before getting into any kind of a scrap on the show married with children. having been in the military for over 11 years, including 5 years in a special forces unit, i am quite the believer in the conspiracy theory. there are too many coincidences there. while i do believe in coincidence, too many put together tells me that there may be more than meets the eye here. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
