my boy came up and hit something on the lower left corner of my keyboard and everything is in hugh letters now. i can't make it go away, somebody help me, it's driving me nuts....like the large print edition of a readers digest. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

i was told that in sf, a team would go up and yes, they would hold it in their hands. one wrap around the had to show that you trusted your life to your team members. i've heard of as many as 6 going out at once, but 5 was the norm. as for the static line to the safety, they kinda turned the other way when one of these happened. even still, i was sworn to secrecy, which is why i'll never let any details out, such as date, names, dz. long tabs get a little more leeway when it comes to rules, they've earned it. and besides, that's the way they operate. don't get me wrong, there are the rules that nobody breaks, but the details are often left to the devices of the team commander. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

that's a good one, but i like rhino's answer the best. to save the life of fellow marines....has a nice ring to it, don't ya think? in sf, they call it sotic - special operations target interdiction course. still fun, i'm sure. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

1st guy jumps then 2d, etc. when the last guy opens, the 3d guy's s/l opens his, etc. when you do your checks, you rool up the s/l d-bag attached and stuff it in your pocket. i wanted to do it bad, but they said i didn't have enough experience. the last guy out on the pass i watched opened at about 5-600 ft. it's cool as hell. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

has anyone ever seen or been in one of these? i saw one once in the military, sf guys are pretty ballsy. it's when 4 or 5 people in s/l rigs go out holding onto the s/l of the guy in front of him. the last guy is hooked up and the exit alt is about 1000'. it's cool for the last guy, at least that's what they say. i dug it, but they wouldn't let me do it. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

man, i just bought a vector 2 v-5 for $225 and it came with a round reserve. i have a 220 raider, and it's tight. if your 210 is zero p, i don't think it'll fit. not the way i pack zero p, anyway....lol. i sent an email to rhe folks over at relative ws, but with the holiday and all, i don't expect a reply before tuesday. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

i'm with you. i read one time that one of the reasons that the feds won't legaslize medical mj is that we've got all these drugs that mimic mj and some that are better. they just can't accept the fact that sometimes certain herbs are much safer and work better for some things. not to mention that it is basically a free drug, you can grow your own medicine for about $50 a year. anyone who knows anything about herbal remedies really doesn't need modern medicine, except in severe circumstances. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

i agree with this, i have the utmost respect for anyone's beliefs, i just wish people would acknowledge that not everyone believes the same thing, or even close to the same thing. i don't pre-judge people for anything, nor do i try to sway your beleifs. when you go to church, you can state any "facts" as such that you want, because all of you are sharing the same belief. just my opinion. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

actually, it's the love of money that is the root of all evil, but this shit is still hilarious.... _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

the only issue here is that the feds are cicumventing the states rights. i know that in ca, the medical mj was voted for BY THE PEOPLE. the state passed it into law. then the feds stepped in. you have the same shit everywhere in this country, the fed govt IGNORING the constitution. look at the law they rushed in to pass regarding the schiavo case. it's only a matter of time before we'll be controlled by a dictator, oh wait. it's too late. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

nice story, bill. i rather liked it much more than the original. i will have to open up by stating the fact that i'm a former cristian. that being said, there are only 12 christians that ever existed, they were the original disciples. jesus was a gnostic, and a very wise prophet. he had mentioned that he didn't care if you hid in your closet to pray, he just wanted everyone to live by the spirit of his teachings. then along came man and so thouroughly corrupted the word god, that all we have left is a bunch of power-hungry, hypocritical, idiots. every single faction that i've read about is the "right" one, and all others will burn in hell for not believing their way. most of the bloodshed in the last 2000 years has a direct line back to religion. i'm not trying to pick on anyone in particular, and i'm sure that many people have nothing but the best intentions.....but like they say, they make good pavers on the road to hell. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

about 150 kts. if i watch that again, i may have to go re-enlist. i'm still current til mid-april. god, i miss that shit, and it did kinda look like sicily, i say kinda cuz i've only seen it in the daylight once. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

the one thing that is missing from all the recent comments id the fact that the constitution SPECIFICALLY points out that no laws are to be made regarding any individual. i think that some serious attention needs to be placed on the fact that every single person who voted on this law and the one who signed it needs to be held accountable. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

my wife used to say that before we had her first, my third. they are 17(g), 15(b), 2(b). i would definately recommend waiting til at least 30, i'm 35 now and so much better of a parent. still, the first two are not bad, they did ok. i got a pic of my daughter holding my newest son. i got my parachute on right before a water jump in the army, he loved watching the choppers take off and land. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

upon closer examination of the video, i must concur that the instructor tried to stop him from pulling the cutaway. like it matters, he's still an idiot. he's clearly a rider, not a driver. how can you not miss those big tall silver things? even if he couldn't see the wires, they are hard to see, he almost hit the pole. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

let's leave the "alive or not" out of the equation. take all of the morality and ethics out also. that leaves just one thing: 15 years of legal turmoil finally came to the conclusion that her husband is the power of attorney, and like my wife told me this morning, he would know better than anyone what her wishes are. it prompted us to sign living wills today, and if anything happens before they get notarized, at least they are still signed. if anything good is to come from this, it is to keep the fed govt out of our private lives, and that everyone needs to have their wishes written down. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

click on the left one first, then the right, etc. then you can look at the boobies totally and get it right. cool... _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

it looked like the instructor put scott's hand on the cutaway. then the instructor pulled his pilot chute out after he pulled the cutaway. is it just me, or did this really happen that way? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

actually, that's what i was hoping for. same characteristics, just lasting longer. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

well, it looks like they're going to put the tube back in. congress is gping to pass a law, FOR THIS ONE CASE, and bush is going to sign it to put the tube back in until federal courts can review the case. this has been going on for 15 fucking years. what are they going to do to this poor woman next? this is an extreme example of a bunch of assholes trying to play god. i guess if i go to court for murder and get convicted, i can just keep going to different courts until i get a verdict i like? the govt needs TO STAY OUT OF OUR LIVES!!!! if nobody can see that this is just the opening of a floodgate, then i guess it's up to me to pass it along to everybody. and, trock: how were the angels next door last night? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

thanx to everyone for all the tips. i do have some sewing skills, but nothing i would trust my life with yet. the canopy i was going to copy first was a raider 220. i was going to make it out of zero p and maybe a 190-200. i really like how it handles, do you think it will change the flight characteristics radically by switching material? i definately need to get those books that were mentioned, a friend showed them to me years ago. he taught me some tricks on stitching patterns and making line loops. i figure i've got a long way to go, skill-wise. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

i have been interested in designing a main canopy for myself for a while now and i have a couple of questions from riggers/knowledgeable people. 1. is it legal to jump it? i have read that you don't have to be a rigger to alter/repair canopies if you are the one jumping it. would canopy construction be covered here? 2. how would it be tested to be airworthy? i can get the material tested, and some of the seams tested i think, but how would i be able to tell what it would do when i jumped it, unless i jumped it? 3. would it be a good starting point to take a canopy that i own and use it for a pattern, just changing sizes of panels/cells/crossbracing? or would this infringe on the manufacturer's patent/copyright? i suppose that as long as i had a reserve that was properly packed and airworthy, and opened at about 8k to test out the flight/handling characteristics, it would be ok, i would have plenty of time to ditch it. has anyone tried this, or know anyone who tried this before? maybe someone has access to a cad program for use in canopy design that i may be able to borrow for a couple of months? thanx, _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
