    TWA 800

except that we both know it's not literal. i have had some first hand information on some of the things that happen in the government. not a lot, but enough to know that other things are not only possible, but likely. the world is not always a pretty place. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

    TWA 800

you can say that all you want, but who's to say it isn't true, that it has been leaked, and all the talk about conspiracy theories is just the way they get most of the people doubting them. the only thing the government has to do to discredit you is label you with that. then, after the media (which is controlled by the same 100 or so people) start taking it up, forget about it ever being real, no matter if it was or not. most of the "people in the trenches" who actually make the things happen, are vested in the success of the thing, not in the thing becoming public knowledge. secrets can, and still do, happen every day. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  3. with isis, it goes a little deeper than that. http://www.clarionproject.org/sites/default/files/islamic-state-isis-isil-factsheet-1.pdf _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  4. yes, we had curved barrels for the m3, but they were for shooting around buildings in ww2, not from tanks. i also heard that they welded a patch on the curve sometimes to make them last longer. although, they could have been for shooting out of tanks as well. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  6. i have read about this also, and i have to chime in here. does oregon not have a law that makes it illegal to take pictures of a 13 year old's privates? how is that not considered child porn? maybe the language of that one law does not cover this, but how does child porn not apply here? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  7. i loved my grease gun. it was an m3a1 and was my primary weapon in desert storm, along with a 1911a1. those things were cool as hell to shoot. you always held down to the left to let it walk into the target. i fired the first round in anger of desert storm with one also. i volunteered to go set up advanced camp for the bn, and we had to drag around all the demo for the company. one day, a civilian drove into our perimeter and the ncoic got ass chewed for letting it happen. that night, he told me to not under any circumstances to let anyone through without challenging them first. about an hour after dark, me and another guy saw a vehicle approaching with lights out, and we were guarding a huge pile of demo. he had an m16 and i had a grease gun, so i sent him to hide under the 5 ton to cover me. i flashed my light and they didn't stop, so i fired, point of aim down to the left. it went off once and jammed. they stopped, and one yelled at me, so i started cussing the hell out of him, i was scared to death and adrenaline was flowing hard. turns out it was a 1sg and an lt from another company. 1sg asked if my weapon was clear, and i looked down and my finger was still wrapped tight on the trigger, i hadn't let go. they tried to tell me i was supposed to fire a warning shot, and i told them i did. i also told them if the weapon hadn't jammed, one of them would be dead. they got in trouble for riding into camp like that. a couple of weeks later the 1sg drove up to my tank and tossed me a .45 round and told me good job. that was the first time any of us had any thoughts about the sand jamming magazines, so i was credited with finding and fixing a critical flaw. we cleaned mags regularly after that. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  11. when you click the little button below the text box you are typing in that says "url", a square opening bracket appears, then the letters "url", then the square closing bracket. then you paste the link, and click the button again. this time, a forward slash appears in front of the letters. the letters are called tags, ant they are how html processes commands to tell the computer how to render the web page. when you open a tag, you do not use a slash, and for every opening tag, you must close it. and you have to put them in the correct order. for example, this works insert text here , but this doesn't insert text here . the square brackets are [ and ], i used the others to illustrate the point without making them work. otherwise, they would have not been shown. but really, all you have to know is click the url button, paste link, click button again. http://www.w3schools.com/tags/default.asp _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  12. camstudio is software that records sound and video through the computer, but it needs to be tweaked because the files can be huge. if you just want to watch them and are not too worried about super hd picture and great sound quality, you can make them smaller. there are others out there, but i have not used any of them. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  13. the vcr went south in favor of tivo, and neither technology, nor the op, had anything to do with torrents. the op asked how to save his purchased content to watch later. same premise as a vcr, or tivo. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  15. if the op has paid for watching the show, then he can record it, as if he had a vcr or tivo. the beta court case way back when said that we could record shows for watching later. were it not for this case, the vcr would have died and tivo would not exist. edit: and to the question, there are a few browser extensions that allow the capture of streaming video, i don't know about other ways, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. i will look and check back later. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  16. no, i don't. the cost of doing nothing is too great. and for the other idiot response, i am not worried, nothing is going to happen in my lifetime. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  17. the whole global warming thing really boils down to one argument, and that is what happens when you're wrong. say it isn't really happening. we waste a lot of time and money trying to curb emissions, stop polluting, stop using fossil fuels, start actually taking care of the environment. all of this to try to stop something that was not going to happen, but we didn't know this at the time. what happens if we were wrong? nothing. say it is happening. we do nothing, continue doing what we are doing, polluting, using all of the fossil fuels, destroying the fresh water reserves, etc. and what if we were wrong here? we destroy the planet. so it all comes down to common sense, except listening to most of you here, and most people everywhere else, leads me to believe that there is nothing common about it. if you have two options, and both lead to an unknown result, it seems to make sense to take the option which does no harm if we are wrong. i know i make mistake all the time, and i am very good at what i do. in a case where a mistake could lead to the destruction of the planet, i would rather that everyone just takes a little responsibility and err on the side of caution. why can nobody else see this? am i so far sighted and enlightened that i know things others don't? i really hope not, but it would seem that way. since it is speakers corner, let me put it a way you can all understand: you have a gun. you don't know if it is loaded. you make a guess, but you could be wrong. you can either point it at someone and pull the trigger, and hope you guessed right and it was empty, but if you were wrong, someone could die. or you could use common sense and not point it at someone and pull the trigger, guessing it is loaded. this way, if you are wrong, nobody dies. of course, i would clear it just to make sure. i like to know if my gun is loaded. i really just wanted to fit guns into this thread while staying on topic. nazis. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  18. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3340857that should take you to a truly gruesome one. i think it's fake, but can't look at it after the first time. edit to add: having recently taken up the sideline of security researcher, i am under no false illusions that i am being watched specifically. having said that, i can become invisible if i choose, but it takes a lot of effort, and right now i am too busy. it does beg the question: is it unethical to join an anonymous battle that punishes isis? that's a tough call for me, and i am staying out because of the effort i need to put in not to get caught. but still...one has to wonder... _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  20. that reminds me of the time we deployed back in '01. we had a formation and an old d-day paratrooper came to see us off. i was talking to him afterward, and we were standing there when one guy asked him how many jumps he had, after airborne school. he said 3, sicily, holland, and normandy. talk about impressive, wow. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  21. honestly, when i saw that, i had been trying to get a sense of the twitter feed from google translate, and when i saw the picture i got nervous. based on some of the other things i read, i took it as real immediately, took a screenshot, and copied the link to the pastebin dump. in retrospect, i should have copied the twitter handles to a notepad doc, because when i went back to them after posting this, it had been removed. also, it is all over cnn about that us twitter account getting hacked by isis, and my buddy told me that his boss said to leave it alone that homeland security was aware of it. sounds like i may have stumbled onto something that was real, no way of telling. i know they can track you 9 ways from sunday and i wasn't on a vpn or proxy or hiding in any way. i just hope that it is the homeland security that did the tracking, not the terrorists. i am not afraid of them, but would rather not get involved in any violence. i have been a little more cautious, however. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

  23. i was surfing pastebin last night, and i found some truly disturbing shit. it was an untitled post, but when i clicked the link, it was a list of twitter handles. i checked one out, and it was a muslim (i could tell from the picture of a woman in a bhurka and the arabic script) with a profile that said private. so i checked some of the others. the third one was called isis911 or something, so i looked at it, and it wasn't private, so i scrolled through some of the tweets. i was cutting and pasting to translate the arabic, but couldn't tell what the context was. then i saw a picture, it was pretty graphic and showed 3 images of a beheading. that's when i took a screenshot, and copied the link to the list and sent it to a friend of mine who is in the military and asked him to show it to someone to have it analyzed to see if it may be a threat. i am a big proponent of free speech and hate unauthorized searches or someone being harassed for just voicing an opinion. i am starting to wonder if i did the right thing. i could have just turned loose the dogs onto some innocent people, but on the other hand, i could have prevented innocent loss of life. the thing that makes me think it's real is the picture, i'll let you decide. it could be a result of anonymous declaring war on isis. anyway, i can sleep a little better at night knowing that i may have helped prevent something sinister. thoughts? _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  24. the bank routing number is easy to get. they want the money, as stated. i had one of these last year, but it was with a job i was supposed to do and he sent money orders. the guy sent two money orders instead of one. i deposited them into my account and waited. after two days, i found out they bounced, so i went in and got them back. then i took them to the post office, since they were usps, and found out they were real, but had already been used somehow. i then found out that they were written by one person in pa, sent to someone n wa, and the guy was supposed to live in nh, and his "agent" was in wv. pretty convoluted, but since they were real, they could have fooled anyone. i knew it was a scam when he sent them, i was going to keep all the money, hence waiting before doing anything. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
  25. harvard has almost all of their courses available online, as does most other schools. i would never do a strictly online one, like u of phoenix. i am currently enrolled at university of charleston, and even though i live about 7 miles from campus, all of my classes so far have been online. i also take a few of the free classes for personal information, not credit, like cs 50 and a few other ones on programming. good place to start is contact a school that has the classes you want/need and inquire about whether they are online. osu is another good one, they offer most of theirs for free as well. _________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
