because there are all sorts of other complications from getting covid. it makes no difference to dying, but i am certainly not in a hurry to get neurological damage or lung damage. for me, the chance of dying, either from covid or the vaccine was always 100%, no decimals to round up from. for you guys, whatever makes you comfortable.

are we really doing this again? do the math, it works out to 0.000037313989761% chance to die from the covid after being vaccinated. again, working in real numbers and rounding to three decimals brings it to effectively zero. so, zero it is. i also doubt those numbers, not that they are really folks who died from covid after the vaccine, just that there comorbidities involved that never affected me in the first place. also, out of the 74, how many had not yet reached the full effectiveness of the vaccine? if they died before the two weeks after the 2d shot, that wouldn't really count as far as being fully vaccinated. the question becomes, how many fully vaccinated folks have died from covid? sounds like time to look things up. that didn't take long. i found that it says 75 mil have been fully vaccinated in the us, and 74 have died. the article says that is 1.4%, but after doing the math, i found it to be 0.0000986~%. not sure how they are calculating the total, but it is just wrong, or i am. ratios are easy, so unless i am missing a fundamental point in the math, it is still zero.

that's not empathy, that's bullshit. fear and the need for socialization competing to see which one wins. with conservatives, you see fear as a deciding factor in a lot of their actions. it's more than that though, like almost everything, there are too many variables to see sometimes and folks that make things black and white miss all the nuance that solves problems.

it ain't just the cops that need to reform, the regular folks need some serious lessons in empathy as well. not sure how we do that, but holding the cops to higher standards than regular folks would be a good start.

this one says the three may be thrown out if the evidence says they were infected prior to getting vaccinated, or at least some could be. also, both articles say that it may have just taken them longer to develop the full immunity since they were all over 65. and the number is over 700 million vaccinated, and i did read that there have been some deaths from the vaccine itself, small numbers, but they are there. and it all averages out to under 0.00% so i round it to zero. hell, sleeping is more deadly than that, and i jump out of planes? of course this is zero.

in the army they are also refusing, they just haven't released the rates yet. last i heard it was around 30%. i can't see the eua keeping it from being mandatory, unless they really have given them rights we didn't have when i was in. in the desert, they had a vaccine we were made to get, some tried to refuse it, but we were told we had no choice. i found out a few years ago it was an experimental vaccine, no fda eua even, and they had gotten permission to use us a test subjects. thing is, they were also required to get our permission first, written and signed for the test. not once did anyone tell us what it was, let alone ask for permission or to sign anything. maybe they take better care of our troops now, but i highly doubt it. i think it was all politicized way too much and that is the reason they let them choose.

but did she die? nope, and neither has anyone else who got a vaccine. worldwide. after hundreds of millions of them. so, effectively zero. it is an absolute guarantee of living, the best guarantee one can have.

it is very true so far. nobody in the world who has had a vaccine has died after getting covid. if you find one that does after hundreds of millions of vaccinations, i will call that close enough to zero to be zero.

you mean nothing changes in the way you're dealing with it and the precautions you're taking, while i took it to mean that nothing physically changed for you. my bad. i feel the same way, my 2d shot is this wednesday. but i didn't stop jumping last year, i just cut way back and didn't get too close or stay the nights partying. that was the only place i went last year as i worked remote, and was dead set on waiting on the vaccine. then covid lost my sweet contract and i am back to field work. i jumped at the chance to get it and am glad i did. now with the 100% chance of not dying from it, it feels better. after a month it's effectively over for me, but i will wear a mask for a while now, mostly because i care about others, even the republicans and the ones i don't know.

if it means anything, i took it as a compliment, not offensively. it is something i would expect to hear in a conversation in real life, so it is perfectly reasonable to see here. if we can't resort to light hearted banter, we are doomed and may as well hang it up now and close the forum. it can get heated sometimes, but this was most certainly nowhere close to that. oh, and my friends have taken to calling them "timpliments". i really do mean well most of the time, but i hate pulling punches and despise dancing around some issues, so sometimes the compliments are barbed, just with the truth and that is offensive to some. most of the time with some folks.

i will use one example to show how it is only control they worry about, abortion. it is the dems who have the record of reducing abortions, not the gop, yet that is one of their platforms. edit to add: i did not check the numbers but the sources are there, feel free.

those are some fine sound bites from the gop propaganda machine. it is very true, and that small grain of truth is what makes it work. otherwise, smart folks such as yourself wouldn't fall for it. i highly respect you for a random internet stranger, and it is a free country and you are due your beliefs as am i. i am not a democrat, but lean that way most often when i am forced to choose the lesser of two evils. enjoy the day.

it is not, nor was it ever, about religion, pro life, or anything else they spout endlessly. it is, and always was, about control. control of women, control of minorities, control of the country, the economy, and everything else. that is the true evil of the gop. that and the fact that with their propaganda and lies have almost half the country who believes what they say, regardless of common sense or the truth. folks such as yourself. otherwise great folks who are smart, honest, and caring. that is the true definition of insidious. it is policy based on control and greed.

you get a 100% chance of not dying from the covid after two weeks, or so they say. 80% chance of not getting it. those are pretty good odds, but if you say it's nothing, then it's nothing.

pretty much as expected, as far as i can tell. anyway, it's over for me, as i have my first one, second next week. i still mask up everywhere, but 80% chance of not getting it at all and 100% chance of not dying means i am done with it. the va did something right this time. but then again, i have never not gotten good care from them.

in la, they ban an abortion after a heartbeat is detected. that normally happens around 5 weeks. most women can go the first month without knowing they are pregnant. that gives them a week to get an abortion. if they wait until 6 weeks, they are not allowed to have an abortion. that is just the first one i looked at which very much makes it illegal to get an abortion, thus a challenge to go to the scotus for removal of wade. there are others that also do that.
