I had a "nut-under" mal on one of my AFF jumps. I check my leg straps EVERY time before I exit. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

This is the key... No need for anyone else to get there feathers all ruffled and have a bad day over a video. On a side note, I was taught to be ok with the spot prior to climbing out (in case you slip and fall), and then not to lag in the door...because a premature in the door could take down the whole plane. Sure, an errant AC over the DZ is one thing, but most door lag seems to be the subsequent result of poor planning. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

I've never jumped a camera...but it seems to me like the chin cup style Boneheads would be 50 times better than a Gath for that purpose for sure. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

If everyone needs to renew once a year, the same statistics hold true anyways... Someone should be entering your info straight into a computer when you call...pretty much making that renewal instant. If not, it means they are writing it down on a piece of paper and entering it into the system later, making a second step and being inefficient, which means they are wasting our dues...that is, if you really want to look at this from the business side of things... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

I got the Gath to protect me from the things most likely to occur: hitting my head in the door, hitting my head on the ramp of the skyvan, someone knocking their helmeted skull into me while they fasten their leg straps that they should have done on the ground in the first place, a knock in freefall, a hard PLF. I don't expect it to save me from a hook turn into the runway. I'm not sure about a nail...any nail at the right angle to penetrate a Gath is going to punch through Bonehead stuff as well...IMO. The visor, while not the sturdiest thing in the world, is still going to protect you from any kind of glancing blow to the face...and keeps ice crystals and rain from pummeling you in the face on exits. There is a last minute Freefly Skills Camp taking place this weekend @ Perris. John Chisholm, Eli Thompson, Chris Reynolds, Laura Vago and others will be organizing / jumping / debriefing. Following with the Safety Day theme, there will be clinics on canopy flight and freefly gear safety as well as trips to the harness. I have a Gath hat...got a deal on it after my Gunner was stolen. The Gath is much more form fitting...doesn't look like a big black egg on your head. The visor would be cool for HD, but I am not there yet. I've used it on tracks and Head Up jumps with no problems. The visor does change your perception a little bit...I don't think I'd want it down while landing. One thing is for sure though, my Gunner was very quiet, the Gath is not. I think I'll start wearing earplugs for the ride to altitude from now on. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

I took the article to mean "his" first canopy. I don't expect Parachutist to ask individuals how much weight they've gained during their involvment with the sport...I don't think many female profilees (and probably some male as well) would really appreciate that question. If the entire magazine is based around not confusing a newer jumper in any way, shape, or form - no matter how small the confusion may be - it would soon lose interest by anyone with over 50 jumps. (is profilee a word, or did I make it up?) Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary -

I believe it is 18 cent/gal Federal and 18 cent/gal state...slightly higher for Diesel...not sure if California sales tax is added on top of that or not. I am always amazed that people complain about oil companies yet have no problems with those taxes. I also wonder now that gas seems to be staying at higher prices, if the state or feds will be raising the tax per gallon cost to be closer to the same percentages they were getting at the lower pump prices...and let the oil companies deal with the consumer complaints.
