  1. It's just a letter. I have met all requirements and taken the test for my B, but never sent the paperwork into USPA. Why? Because sending off that 20 bucks isn't going to make me fly better, land better or be a safer individual in the air. Maybe I'll get my C when I turn 2 points on an 8 way freefly jump...and probably then only because I did it the hard way. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  2. Backflying is your "out" for head up, so you should work on it first. You don't have to kick ass at it or anything, just be comfortable and nuetral. As a beginning freeflier, I can tell you sometimes I learn more about freeflying in one coached, filmed and properly debriefed jump than five solos. Or find a DZ with some good freefly LO's and mooch all the knowledge and jumps you can off of them... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  7. With the exact conditions you've outlined, I'm going to choose the BASE jump...especially if it's a round water rig. The water makes the landing pretty much a non-factor...and the water makes a lot of partial mals much more survivable. I can think of very few instances where a collision with terra firma would be preferable to a collision with water. And I keep seeing that Lusk AFF-1 tape from the 90's in my head... 8. I am in Newport. John Chisholm of the FMC at Perris owes me some coach jumps, I'm sure they are transferable...does the day on the set include the services of a fluffer? If I'm going to be in your world, I want to be fully immersed in it. Mixing porn and skydiving could bring a whole new set of moves to the VRW scene... 9. 1. Don't kill myself or other sky friends 2. Don't break myself or other sky friends 3. Pass my head up and head down load organizer tests 4. Finagle my way in on as many jumps as I can with the 4way VRW teams starting up. 5. Participate in an 8 way freefly jump turning more than two points (last requirement for my C license) The LO tests are a lofty goal, considering at this time my head down experience equates to a couple of linked HD exits. 10. How did that "red" stripe not raise any "red" flags during the final QC? I also had a minor cosmetic problem with my new V3...unfortunately mine fits and functions so damn well that I can't imagine sending it back to get it fixed... Xmas BASE

I received a 500 dollar gift certificate to Apex from my father. Probably not the BASE x-mas story you were looking for though... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  14. I was advised by the knowledgable to not get white on a canopy if you jump at Perris or Elsinore...just won't stay white long...even if you hit the grass every time. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  16. Alex Allen, John Chisholm, Big Dave Gershfeld, and Eli Tompson all weigh less than or equal to 164#'s geared up...some SIGNIFIGANTLY less. They all were part of the 53 way HD world record. They would all be hampered from downsizing at jump 220 or 260. They all possess the Y chromosome. There are plenty of female skydivers with exit weights over 165#'s who wouldn't be subjected to the more stringent wl guidelines then either their lesser weighing male or female counterparts. 17. Here are two quotes from John LeBlanc in the email I was sent. Seems to me John is a driving force behind the lighter jumpers being pushed into larger canopies for a greater amount of jumps. Seems to me John believes smaller canopies are more radical at lesser wing loadings. Also notice, this is going by WEIGHT, not SEX. Smaller men will be hindered just as much as smaller women. 18. Why? Maybe I like that. Each to their own. Cool, let your friends do speed and die. Just don't cry or whine when it happens. It is the governments job to save people from each other...not themselves. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  19. It's definately the right time of the year for some big south swells to start making the Wedge pump. I live pretty close to the Wedge, except for on big days...it can take hours to drive down the peninsula when pros are in town for big swells. In high school and college I played water polo and would grab my Vipers and go out on big days...not anymore. I run the rocks on the jeddy sometimes...its a great physical and mental workout...those rocks make you think fast or pay the price. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  21. From looking at this chart , I don't believe this is pertaining to AFF levels. It also says these are minimums...any size larger is allowed and sometimes mandated. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
