  1. It's called RDS(Removable Deployment System). The pilotchute as normal is attached to the d-bag, but the d-bag is attached to the slider. There are a couple of different systems available, but all disconnect the slider from the grommets(or similar) that stays on the lines. It's made to improve swoops, but they will only add a couple of feet extra. There are plenty of other things you may do before RDS will have an effect for you. The big cons with RDS is the high risk for assembling it wrong, that will almost certain give you a nice reserve ride....hopefully =P I know PD has one system and one producer of RDS in Germany. One good thing of having the slider of is that wear on grommets and risers(or lines if the slider won't get below your links/slinks) will be a lot less I think. But still it's minor compared to the awareness of packing and extra time required to stow it all away under a fast canopy =) "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
  2. just curious: do you have any cutaway-mod and large flags in case of entanglement? If so, where it the cutaway handle/pud placed to allow a fast cutaway if you get entangled? 4. http://www.fallskjermhopp.no/vid/jubileum.mpg Here's a clip for our national TV station in Norway. We did a history jump(or something like that) to celebrate that it was exactly 40years ago that the first civilian(ze germans had already done it military-style) skydive was done in our region. And it was an PC from -74 i think
  5. I just got my cookie ROK. My melon is 57cm and I ordered a Large which has the range 56-58cm. It tight and snug now, but with use It'll loosen up and, I believe, become perfect. There's just enough room for a head over(Buff) for winter jumping. If you're hairy, Id go one size up =D The helmet feels nice!
  6. I think I just realized that working in the skydiving industry really does has some benefits, except free jumps. Who else can post and read on forums while at work and getting paid for it? It's "research" or "customer service" What would Halliburton or WallMart say if you got busted reading forums at work? 8. Film festival??? Where's the red carpet? The Celebrity? ..and the gossip? I want a full report on the different rigs they show up with, who designed their jumpsuits, what instruments they use and what label they prefer. 10. Agree! in the summer of 2006 we exited at 12500f from an AN-28 and passed through 4 layers of clouds. Those 3 spaces between created a surreal empty void feeling..it was awsome..Just a shame I had to few jumps to be qualified for jumping with camera.... 12. JP: Is it easy to screw/unscrew a camera mounted on top? Or do you have to unfasten the whole top plate to access it's underside? And the final question, does the top plate somehow have a "floor" under itself, so if you cut a hole in the top plate you won't have direct access to your melon?
  13. Same here. Stiletto 135 at 1.6, never had any problems with landings or long spots, even with the lineset being old and worn. The canopy has a total of 800 jumps, I've got some 80-ish jumps on the canopy "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

  17. I'd go and talk to the person who did this and try to make him/her understand my concern and point of view. Instead of ignoring the person completely. We as a community does not serve any well if we don't speak to each other to try and reach an agreement. And when I mean speak, that does not mean bashing or ranting at someone and then walk away. What was he/she thinking? What was his/hers plan? why did he/she do this? your opinion on how to avoid this in the future. If the person is not listening at all or doing the same thing over and over again, I'd consider sanctions as grounding, have another authority at the DZ(instructor, DZO, very experienced skydivers on the subject etc) to talk to the person and at last ignore the person. Face it, he/she may still go to another DZ and jump, doing the same things and MAYBE not realize what he/she had done wrong if you just ignore him/her. How would you feel then when knowing that you may have guided him/her on to the right path and avoiding an accident. I'm very much for solving issues through communications , and not through "social norms". Not every one is on the same frequency. just my 2 cents.. 18. If you're near a manufacture of canopies or a master/senior rigger, go and talk to them. Let them show you and explain it to you in detail. I think you'll understand more when showed then explained here, though there are a lot experienced senior/master riggers here on DZ.com.
  19. Is it possible to have a statusfield with transfer rate and how many mb have been transfered? "Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no

  21. I hope you're not using Windows Moviemaker... if so, there's your problem. And also do as Dragon2 said
  22. love them! But i joke about the hazard of getting too god of a grip with them and not wanting to let go and then digging myself in Do you lay the risers on top of each other or side by side when packing? I lay them side by side so that the 2nd risercover doesn't bulge.
