  1. Personally...I really like REI's stuff. Patagonia, which you can also buy at REI, is good too.
  2. I think the critical point where we can stop going back is when human's appeared. Sure, the dinosaurs liked it hotter with more CO2. That doesn't mean we will.
  3. So are you saying Bush lied? Because he has actually admitted that they didn't have the WMD that he claimed he thought they did. Did they do such a good job that you STILL believe it, even after they've admitted it was wrong?
  4. Probably easier to stain the rest of the floor. Or paint it.
  5. I haven't heard one thing out of Dean's mouth since he lost the nomination. How do "YOU" know this? None of us know the truth, if we did there wouldn't be a debate. But plenty of people have come forward with information about how the intel that conflicted with the agenda was marginalized and turned into footnotes in reports. And it's well known that standard practice in Washington is for congressman to read conclusions of reports only, not all the pesky details and footnotes. I'm not saying that's right, but the Bush team knew that's how it works and took advantage of it.
  6. No...he didn't know which intel was correct. He had an agenda, the same agenda that's been PUBLISHED by his staff and advisors (Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Kristol, his dad, etc) since the early 90's. He picked out the intel that supported that agenda and presented it to congress and the public. Again...it's been covered a million times. Feel free to disagree with me, but why try to twist my position into something that it's not? At least try to counter my view as opposed to twisting it.
  7. Correct...he got good AND bad intel, and threw out the good stuff because it didn't fit his agenda. We've been over this a million times now. I know you don't believe it, but I can't believe you don't understand what we've been saying all along. So why ask these silly questions?
  8. you do if there are certain chars in the string (i forget which in particular), so I just use them to be safe.
  9. Those two things are not exclusive from one another.
  10. We don't do that. But we'll make every effort to fight any laws that say we can't.
  11. The actions described in the article.
  12. Is that all they have in common? Seems most are predominantly white. Maybe it's racial? I don't believe that, but can be inferred using the same logic.
  13. You may be mistaken. Mexico, for example has very very strict gun control laws. You go to prison for posessing a bullet. Ahhhh....now you may be on to something. They aren't enforced well here. That's why it's useless to pass more strict laws when the existing laws aren't fully enforced yet. All that does is criminalize more behavior without actually having any effect on the problem.
  14. Dude...I just busted up! You have a degree in graphic arts?
  15. Guess the noise does work sometimes. If I were bitter and partisan I'd say Bush is just capitulating to public opinion polls. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he truly believes in the ideals of our constituton....after a little "arm twisting". http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&u=/nm/20051207/ts_nm/security_usa_torture_dc_2
  16. You want to think about that one? They probably didn't view what they were doing before 9/11 and in gathering intel about Iraq to be ineffective. But it sure was.
  17. I think our cultures are very different when it comes to violence and crime. But not because of gun laws. That's the point. 23 countries have higher rates of murder and most have very strict gun control laws. So tell me, why would anyone think gun control laws would help? Possibly the cause of the violence is something different than a lack of gun control.
  18. Tough. Morally, I'm opposed to torture at all. But I gotta admit, if I were there and found somone in that exact situation you described, I'd probably crack a rib myself. And then regret it for the rest of my life.
  19. You still think those will turn into spots? Even if not, he's cool looking. I can't wait to move so I can have cats. Maybe I'll get a couple of these, their description from you link is awesome...is it pretty accurate?. But I'll probably just go to the SPCA.
  20. Hell we couldn't win in Korea, even though we were still on war footing from WWII, and China had just been occupied by foreign forces then had a revolution. That's a war I really really don't want to happen. We may have the technological edge (not by much)...but they gotta a lot of soldiers
