That's about all I was trying to say...thanks.
-
God damn...I'll try a little harder to overcome the lack of reading comprehension. The cop did the right thing. I would do the same thing the cop did. I just think it's a shame that someone lost their life who wasn't really trying to blow anyone up...was just nutty. Can't I feel bad for someone getting killed without being critical of anyone?
-
I don't know how else to say it. I NEVER BLAMED THE FUCKING COP. DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO READ?
-
One more time...sigh...I agree that the cop did what he should and what he's there for. I just think it's a damn shame that we are so on edge that we have to immediately shoot people that we perceive as threats because there's a good chance they are an actual threat. And I clearly blamed the terrorists for that in my first post. We need to recognize, though, that part of the damage they inflicted on us is the fact that we have to be more aggressive and therefore may kill those that don't really need killing.
-
Well, I figure if we start decimating them conventionally, they're going to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat (you know the Chinese love their proverbs )
-
Do they give this "high risk briefing" before they let you join the military?
-
Yeah...ummmm...that's because those bands suck. Well at least the first one, never heard of the others.
-
We'll be doing that while dodging their nukes?
-
No one has defended the idiot. I just wish the idiot didn't have to die. It's a shame. If you don't feel bad for someone for losing their life who wasn't really a threat, than I feel bad for you, too. That's not true. There was the PERCEPTION of a threat...and that WAS dealt with properly. But no real threat existed and therefore a man died for no good reason. There is no blame on the cop (again). But there WAS NO threat.
-
Again...the cop did the right thing (from what I read). Do I need to put that disclaimer on every post? There was a perceived threat, not an actual threat. The cop followed his perception, which is his only perogative. But the guy didn't need to be killed to stop a threat, because there wasn't one, just the perception of one. One more time...I don't blame the cop. But I still wish it hadn't happened, and I'll bet the cop does too.
-
It shows me that the terrorists got us on edge so much that we're mistakenly killing out own people. Again, not blaming the cop. But I don't consider this a good thing.
-
I would have voted him out for proferring employment to get laid (no matter what the sex) and for being a hypocrite.
-
How would you know that if you were in his/her situation? Have you some sort of "tell if this dumbass is for real or not" device? Do you think it's prudent to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially on a plane. You know....where, if you're wrong, everybody's dead in a split second? I'm not blaming the cop at all. I'm sure he did what he had to do given the circumstances. I'm just saying I don't feel any safer because a guy who wasn't really a threat was stopped from doing....well...nothing.
-
Well..this proves we're safer from dumbasses who aren't a threat in the first place.

Why can't I get a job without being insulted?
ReBirth replied to Airman1270's topic in Speakers Corner
. Anybody who reads my post, and reads it carefully, and understands what I'm saying and why (even if they disagree with me) will realize that you completely miss my point. That's a whole lot of qualifiers. But I did read it carefully, pretty sure I understand it, and do get your point. But I disagree with you. You're basically advocating a freedom from interference or intrusion into things that you should be able to decide on your own. And I agree with that. But you don't take it far enough. You seem to be advocating that restrictions are place on businesses as to how they can screen employees. That would be YOU interfering with THEM. Employment is an agreement between you and your employer. No one is forced to work for anyone else. Should the gov't be allowed to drug test citizens? Emphatically no. Should the gov't or others be allowed to tell employers what their standards should be? Emphatically no. -
Why can't I get a job without being insulted?
ReBirth replied to Airman1270's topic in Speakers Corner
Compared to what? Would you rather have a pot smoking Einstein or a straight edge Corky working for you? As an employer, I'd rather have the best qualified candidate who does the best job. Sure, the pot smoker may not work to his full potential, but he still could be a better worker than someone who doesn't. I'd rather judge people on their performance rather than the chemical composition of their blood. But I do agree that it's the employers call. I just don't agree with your reasons on why they should want to do it. Oh...and I like how you want a blood test to see if people are "drinking on the job" but then claim that smoking pot when not on the job is bad. At least keep your standards in balance. If you want to stop people who smoke pot on occasion from working for you, you should also stop people who drink occassionally. If you only want to stop people from drinking on the job, you should only stop people from smoking pot on the job. Why the two different standards? -
So...you're saying they did lie? And you're ok with that? Yet you criticize the UN, who happened to be telling the truth. Clear as mud.

So don't work for them then. No one is making anyone else work for a company with these rules. and no one should make a company compromise their standards. -
The UN. They said that they were accounted for. We said they were wrong...they weren't...we were...we've admitted that. At least the administration did. If you're going to believe their lies, you ought to keep up with which one they're currently on.

You can't "force" them to comply. But it's perfectly legal to not hire them or fire them if they don't. -
I saw a guy on some show that makes a living going out in the desert, finding them and selling them. They showed him walking around and picking them up off the ground, doesn't seem like it's too hard if you know what you are doing.

It's not out of desire, it's necessity. Where I work they do a criminal and credit background check. They just started doing it, reluctantly. Why? Because our clients won't do business with us otherwise. -
The Time to Act Is Now- A great read about Global warming
ReBirth replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
That's really my only point here. We should do whatever we can to keep conditions favorable to us as much as that is feasable. I don't care if it's manipulating the natural cycle or not. I take no comfort if our extinction is due to a natural cycle, a natural comet strike, as opposed to a nuclear war. -
There were plenty of people BEFORE the war telling him that he was wrong. Take a look at some of the posts on here from 1/03 and you'll see that a lot of us were saying the info was being skewed back then. There were plenty of people in authority saying it as well, not just a small minority. You're right, other politicians are to blame as well, for following his lead. I may be cherry picking data, but I'm doing it based on what logically makes sense, not an emotional agenda. I don't have an anti-Bush agenda other than the fact that everything he does seems to be anti-me. I'm anti-Bush-doing-shit-I-don't-like. Unfortunately, that seems to be the majority of what he does. You assume I attack what Bush does because I don't like Bush. It's actually the opposite. He does what I don't like, therefore I don't like him. I very much wish I could be behind our President 100%. But I just can't be when 90% of his actions piss me off.
