  2. Neither. It's tomorrow, October 2 at 8pm Central time.http://news-info.wustl.edu/news/page/normal/12445.html Not sure what the OP is about. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  3. So if regulation will never keep up with innovation, what do regulatory bodies do to keep tabs? Is there anything they can do but focus on more effectively enforcing current regs? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  4. I always answer questionnaires a little more bluntly when they're anonymous. A simple answer, but probably true for most people. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  5. No, it's not. I don't really like the plan, particularly without judicial oversight, but here's an interesting read. Written by a gentleman who works on Wall St. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  6. http://writenow.wordpress.com/2008/08/23/biden-says-obama-not-ready-for-presidency/ These games are stupid. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  7. Geeze, what do you want from me? With all the fucking rhetoric, double talk, buzzwords, and bullshit, I'll be passed out by 8:15 -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  8. Then again, the Wright has never accused anyone of being a witch and attempted to get people to stone them to death either. Muthee has. Muthee and Palin both believe the 2nd coming of Jesus is coming soon. They both believe that when the end of days does come that Alaska will be the last refuge for humanity and that their church will be the beacon. Not sure about you, but I don't want someone hoping for the apocalypse sitting that close to the red button. You could end up seeing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CdKuLRmg8k Do you guys have any links or quotes where Muthee called for the stoning of people or that Alaska will be the last refuge? I googled it and found some interesting articles, but most were in his defense. Accoding to most articles, witchcraft is a problem in Africa that has led to thousands of deaths. Therefore, the term witch or witchcraft is a throwback to his culture and merely represents evil. The video in the OP just shows Muthee asking for protection of Palin from evil. If you have links for me to read up on his other claims then I will, but this video is nothing. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  9. Very true, but to be fair he's not the one who put them in that mess. I totally agree it's the wrong midset, but he was President when the company was sold... not really fair to be mad at him if he's not responsible for running the company into the ground. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  10. I think more problems than gun control would be solved if we found a way to reconcile and harmonize cultural attitudes across the country. Easier said than done. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  11. Do you think no-one is to blame? I think he clearly described the problem. Some provided framework, some gave the go-ahead, and some bit off way more than they could chew. Do you think one person or entity is to blame? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  12. He said '10 years when they were rollin in the dough.' Meaning the market has been doing well. Calm down. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  13. Fixed that for you. True. That doesn't change the techniques, though. Just the psychological effect. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  14. "In particular, Rice wrote in the Sept. 12 statement that officials discussed simulated torture techniques that elite U.S. soldiers were subjected to as part of a survival training program, and that she and other officials were told that such methods "had been deemed not to cause significant physical or psychological harm."" The subject line is somewhat misleading. They were talking about what methods would be acceptable and "simulated torture" that our own troops experience seemed like a possible solution. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  15. Because July comes before October. The first bill, in July, had no revision. Obama and Biden voted for it then. Then they voted against Coburn's amendment. Then the revised appropriations bill which they voted for and McCain skipped stripped it. . You seem to have a really hard time understanding the process. What am I not understanding? They voted for the bill before it was ever altered. The argument could end right there. But... they voted against the amendment. Then the revised bill came out. They had already voted, twice. Once for the bill. Then against the amendment. Try to hold back a snide remark and explain to me what I'm not understanding. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  16. Doesn't seem that profound to me. All of those issues have been discussed on here and in the media. I failed to find his answer to the problem. Is it simply that congress should vote no? Then what? Seemed like a lot of rambling with no suggestions. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  17. Do you think that Senators Obama and Biden based their votes on two bridge projects that made up less than 1/1000th of the entire transportation bill? Personally, I hope they didn't. Probably not, but that is pretty much the definition of pork. Even so, they did vote against the amendment to remove said pork. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  18. Because July comes before October. The first bill, in July, had no revision. Obama and Biden voted for it then. Then they voted against Coburn's amendment. Then the revised appropriations bill stripped it. I expected a snide remark but you're obviously misunderstanding the timeline. There's no argument defending them. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  19. I'm really trying to see your side of the story, but where are you getting that Obama/Biden were against it. From your link: "Palin supported it even after McCain denounced it, then blamed "inaccurate portrayals" when she canceled it for lack of money. Obama and Biden voted for the big transportation bill that contained it. McCain's vote was one of four against. Our time line gives full details" "July 2005: Congress votes on a bill authorizing funding for highways. The bill includes funds earmarked for the Gravina bridge and the less-famous Knik Arm bridge. Both bridges go to low-population areas and are labeled "bridges to nowhere." Sen. McCain makes an impassioned speech on the floor decrying both bridges and dozens of other projects he considers unnecessary. Biden and Obama vote for the $286.4 billion highway bill, with the Gravina bridge and the other projects included. McCain and only three others vote against it. The highway bill passes 91 - 4 with five not voting." "October 2005: Sen. Tom Coburn proposes an amendment to a bill making appropriations for transportation. The amendment would strip the earmarked funds from the Gravina and Knik Arm bridges and commit them to the rebuilding of the Twin Spans bridge in Louisiana, which was damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Obama and Biden vote against the amendment. McCain is not present. The amendment fails 82 - 15 with three not voting." Help me understand why Obama/Biden are free of guilt. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  20. If you choose to check, you'll find there is [url "http://www.factcheck.org/outrageous_exaggerations.html">rather more to the story. "Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) tried to divert the Gravina funds to a bridge in need of repair over Lake Pontchartrain near New Orleans. McCain was not present to vote on Coburn’s amendment proposing this change, which did not pass. Instead, Congress removed Gravina’s earmarks, tossing that money into Alaska’s general transportation pot to be used however the state chose. McCain wasn’t there for that vote, either." What does that have to do with Obama/Biden's voting aye? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  21. Unfortunately, as with most government programs, there will be plenty of people who take advantage of the system. I don't mean to downplay your point or experiences because it's heartbreaking. I just don't see how the government will draw a line in the sand for who gets help and who doesn't. I also don't doubt there are "innocents" out there, but how do you define and separate the innocent from the irresponsible? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  22. Right. Salute the rank, not the man. Pay is based on rank and time, not individual performance. Individual performance might help one get promoted, but it might not. The army is nowhere near the capitalist end of the dichotomy. That doesn't leave much in the way of alternative descriptors. Time in grade is one factor for promotion. Individual performance is the main factor. That argument ignores the original point that the military is funded from an outside source. Extremely poor example of communism. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  23. What obvious problems are you referring to that are tolerated by the Church? No crime or sin is encouraged. Everyone has problems. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  24. There you go again. See, that wasn't so hard. Now to apply your argument, how does that prove outcome based learning works? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
  25. I also find it reprehensible and it makes me sick to see people being taken advantage of in the name of religion. However, your question goes back to the same problem of defining an entire group by the actions of a very very small percentage of it's supposed members. Saying Christianity is a cult because there are scum bag televangelists is like saying Islam is a murderous hate cult because of those like OBL. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
