I can't access youtube at work. I guess they think I should be working. this might be it www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts3U939CD3g these articles talk about it http://www.cjr.org/campaign_desk/the_us_iraq_and_100_years.php http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/04/mccains_100year_war.html -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Timing. Obama is a very smart man and should've had more awareness. The hockey mom lipstick thing was immediately famous after Palin's speech. He always chooses his words carefully and speaks eliquently so it's hard to believe he just accidentally used the wrong analogy. I personally think it was blown way out of proportion. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

"I think it's a stretch to, in any way, to say that she's got the experience to be president of the United States," Mr Hagel told the Omaha World-Herald newspaper. Good thing she's not running for President. If we're going to have the same argument again, I find this much more telling. http://tennesseefree.com/2008/08/23/joe-biden-on-barack-obama-not-ready-for-the-presidency-but-john-mccain-is/ -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

The propaganda portion is when he's misquoted as wanting a 100 year war, like the Obama camp did with one of their ads. He said he wouldn't mind keeping troops there as long as they're not in danger just as we have in Germany, Italy, and the other countries he named. That means one or two bases. It doesn't mean keeping enough troops to police the entire country, as is the current case in Iraq. Again, it's been scewed by the left to imply he wants 150,000 troops to remain in Iraq for 100 years. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

We pay to drive on tolls. You support gov. healthcare in which only the "rich" pay. If the guy driving the BMW had to pay for 15 Goe Metros behind him then I'm sure there would people upset. Everyone uses roads equally and as much as they please. One car does not demand more from the road than another. I'm sure you could get technical with a car's weight or miles traveled, but that's just minimal semantics. The problem with comparing roads to healthcare is that not every person needs the same medical care. Some need hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of care and some never go to the doctor. Yet, the higher taxed (i.e. "rich") pay for it all. The road needs repaving every now and then. A doctor is slightly more skilled. The same road can be driven by all. The same physician cannot perform brain surgery. The analogy is rediculous and a poor attempt to compare apples and oranges. Road = used equally by all healthcare = used in drastically different ways and paid for by the most successful -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Defense budget relates to GDP. You're arguing that the defense budget, including military spending, needs to be drasitcally cut because we spend more than all other nations combined. You mentioned nothing about NEEDS vs budget, which would likely be an entirely subjective argument. As a function of GDP, we're #40ish on the list of military budgets. It's like saying Skydive Arizona spends more money on avgas than every other dz in arizona combined. Ok, well, as a function of total income, number of skydivers, days of operations, number of aircraft, etc. they're actually #10 on the list. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

This article covers a few indicators. http://www.nationalreview.com/nrof_luskin/luskin200405050850.asp several good points in here http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-80312 Nobody can dispute the economic growth during Clinton's administration. If you atribute it all to him then you're just naive. The internet, computer technology, OPEC prices, etc all contributed to the economy. When he left office, which is the time frame in argument, the economy was in a downturn. Show me facts that dispute that. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

So that's where the 23% comes from. More $$$ than all the other nations of the Earth combined. We've been over this before. As a function of GDP, the U.S. is around #40 on the list. You're scewing stats to make them fit your argument. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Exactly. Hire the devil you know and put them in the VP position. The problem is that you're looking to hire the no-experience devil you know for CEO. And what proof has Obama ever given that he won't be a total disaster? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
Last I saw, Anonymous was claiming responsibility. If that's true then you probably don't need to worry about Yahoo! being compromised. They concentrate their force, for lack of a better word, on a single target. There was a good article on Anonymous in last month's Maxim, for those interested. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

From that entire response, all I got was that she's not ready because she hasn't been in the public eye long enough. I guess if that's your measuring stick then Obama is definitely more qualified since all he's done with his "political career" is campaign. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -

Anyone who likes Palin as VP is either a zealot or dumb? How do you come to that conclusion? Anything objective, as lawrocket said? The gallup polls have been back and forth across even for weeks. Do you honestly believe half the country is completely out to lunch? What makes her less ready than Obama? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
Lindsay Lohan Calls Out Sarah Palin For Homophobia

If same sex marriage was nationally legalized, would churches be required to hold ceremonies? Could the couples sue churches for not observing federal law or could the church choose not to participate? I know there would be some churches to accommodate. The differentiation between legal marriage and religious marriage just got me thinking about the actual legal implications. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
Let's see. In my 35 yrs. of working in the USA the only time I was out of work for an extended period of time was under RR and the Bushes. take that to thre bank. If your bank doesn't fail soon. Ever occur to you to blame yourself? You know what motherfuker. 1981. I was making 19 bucks an hr. Const. work shut down. I went back to work for fuckin 4 bucks an hr. to feed my kids after 1 yr. on unemployment. Suck my dick. Thanks Ronnie Whoa. I've wanted to say shit like that lots of times on here. Personally, I think you're both off a little. My father was out of work for several years (he had odd jobs but nothing steady or really secure) beginning around 2000. Was it his fault? No. His employer closed up shop and left the state. Did he blame the government? Fuck no. I'm sorry you went through hard times. I dont jump to the 'blame yourself' group, but I also don't blame the President that you were unemployed. Tough times happen. Is it to the President's credit you eventually found a better job? Of course not. You did whatever you could to survive until better came along. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Just to clarify, before this thread spins rapidly out of control, are you saying that Rev. Wright's comments were taken out of context or did I misread that? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

This argument is getting old. Here's the trascript one more time. Sounds to me like Gibson said 'proximity of the state.' Then she gave an example of how small the world is and how important it is that we have mutually beneficial relationships. It doesn't matter how you interpret the words, nowhere in there did she says "seeing Russia from Alaska gives me foreign policy experience." GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you? PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska. GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia? PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along. We cannot repeat the Cold War. We are thankful that, under Reagan, we won the Cold War, without a shot fired, also. We’ve learned lessons from that in our relationship with Russia, previously the Soviet Union. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Lindsay Lohan Calls Out Sarah Palin For Homophobia
FallingOsh replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
Why would that make a person racist? More interesting a question, who are they racist against? Do they not like either race? If an asian person says they don't agree with an asian and mexican getting married, does that mean the asian is also racist against asians? Not saying I have a problem with interracial marriage so don't go there. I just think racist is an interesting term for not agreeing with interracial marriage. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
To be fair, his exact words were "my greatest moral failing, and I have been a very imperfect person, is the failure of my first marriage. It's my greatest moral failure.” -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

It is sad that the old fears of cold can last for so long. I don't believe Russians have plans for attacking US ... And if they did attack Alaska, that would be one the most ridiculous strategic moves in the history or all wars. Where is the logic behind your theory? Nobody fears the Ruskies are comin over anytime soon. Completely dismissing them as a threat is just ignorant. They've been talking shit for years and now they're stepping up actions against neighbors and shaking hands with people who openly call for the destruction of America. The Russians not liking the west is not a "fear of cold." -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

I agree. The quotes in the article just irritate me. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

No shit the KKK doesn't support Obama. Of course racists exist. It exists on both sides and towards other races. I'm not defending any of it. "The invisible bubba vote" is just dumb. It takes in too many assumptions like, if he were white then those hillbillies would've voted for him. Even if they ignored all political issues, wouldn't those hillbillies still be more likely to vote for a war veteran? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
-
Someone like me? Someone who doesn't agree with his positions? Yeah, then someone like me wouldn't vote for him. It has nothing to do with race which is what the article is about. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
