He doesn't sit with the Dems either. Half of his beliefs would be considered crazy right wing neo-con on this forum. I think it's good for both campaigns that he's not actively involved. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Just saw the report on tv. She already issued an appology that seemed like an insult to South Carolina voters to me. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
This is why crap from places like The Onion shouldn't be posted. Because there will always be someone out there who believes whatever is put in front of them. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Entertaining, if nothing else. Can't argue with The Onion http://www.theonion.com/content/news/obama_practices_looking_off_into -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Yeah, a little. Respected though. I picture that exact advice being given, only to find out the intel is wrong. Then people get pissed and say they didn't want it to happen in the first place. Not a shot at you at all. I just think that's kinda how the Iraq decision went down. Granted, a special forces team to nap OBL is different than invading the whole country. Just sayin. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Completely agree Yes, I've read the resolution. The one short titled "This joint resolution may be cited as the `Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq'" Right - and it left the decision to the CinC to use force if all else failed! And all else had NOT failed, because the UNSCOM was still providing reports of compliance until Bush told them to leave. The Congress didn't vote to invade Iraq. The Congress gave no orders to the Pentagon. Yes. It was Bush's decision. I haven't claimed different. However you want to interpret when diplomatic attemps failed, congress still approved the use of miliary force. That can't be argued otherwise. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

It sounds like the conversation is dying down so I don't want to fan the flames. Just interested in your opinion. If we knew OBL was inside Pakistan, say right on the border, would you support going over to nab him? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

The threat of prosecution keeps every store in the country from being cleaned out. Of course having a a guard in the store is good. What happens if the guard catches them since prosecution is just revenge? Roll your eyes all you want. We haven't been attacked since then. . You guys only read what you want to read. That was exactly my point. We would never screen for race. That means the attackers would still be allowed on the plane even if the TSA was in place back then. The only difference between then and now is that their box cutter would be taken away. How much of roll do you think those little ass box cutters played? Personally I think the planes would've been taken over without any weapon. Again, you jump to a rediculous conclusion for the chance to take a cheap shot. My point, for the third time, is that TSA screening would not stop the attackers from getting on the plane. Their box cutters wouldn't make it, but don't you think they would've figured something else out? Sure it does. Would it stop someone from taking over a plane? Highly doubt it. The flight deck doors, air marshals, and passengers would make it damn hard. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Yes, I've noticed. The problem is that you're only pointing a finger at Bush. He didn't order the military into Iraq by himself. That's the issue. Who is the co-CinC then? I can only assume you didn't actually read the congressional resolution. 29 dem senators voted in favor. 81 dems in the house voted aye. No doubt the republicans supported the action in larger numbers. That doesn't absolve the democratic party of being involved in the decision. If you want to point a finger, that's fine. Point it at washington. Bush is the CinC and has no excuse for his decisions. He is the one who made the decision. Congress approved it and dems were involved in that approval. Try again - the vote total is not the resolution. What did they actually approve? What were the words? I guess you really did NOT read it, did you? By the way, 61% of Dems in the house voted "NAY". Under 3% of GOP representatives voted "NAY". So claiming the Dems said "let's do it" is inaccurate. If 39% voted aye then yes, they did have something to do with it. how can you absolve the entire party of any responsibility? Bush is the CinC and there's no denying it was his call. But, he could not have gone through with it if 100% of dems voted no. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Bin Laden hasn't been "allowed" to go free. Your analogy implies we found him and let him go. He's probably hiding in Pakistan and they aren't cooperating. Purely agrumentative... if the pilots pulled negative G then it wouldn't pin them to the ceiling. They, along with everyone else, would just float. It would probably flame out the engines, though. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

How idiotic is that ??? Best regards from the Stone Age it was stated as fact. not like we should stop it. he was saying that airport securtiy would've stopped 911. my argument is that the attackers took over with box cutters. no amount of airport security would stop arabs from getting on a plane. that's rediculous. thanks for chiming in, though. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

You're scewing the numbers to make it look worse than it is. I hate statistics for that very reason. If you look at military spending as a function of GDP, then we're down around #40 in the world. What nations, specifically, are you talking about that spend less on the military and more on healthcare and have a stronger currency? France, I guess. According to the link, they're #47 and we're #46. Personally I don't think France's military is something we should be striving for. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/mil_exp_dol_fig_pergdp-expenditures-dollar-figure-per-gdp -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Would you vote for this candidate for President?

We would've talked about change while Germany and Japan took over the world. That wouldn't have been so bad. Kallend sure wishes we had a respectable government like the Nazis. That has to be one of the stupidest comments so far this year. Yes it was. My appologies. It was Lucky who made such claims. Sorry, sorry. My bad. from another thread Sorry to get you two mixed up. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
They did? I know a lot of left leaning citizens who were against the invasion from the start - some of them (myself included) posted their views right here on SC- check out the archives. The left leaning democrats in washington voted to support it. I commend you in your foresight, though. I know plenty of right leaning citizens who thought it was a bad idea. The republicans in washington voted to support it. The difference now is that the dems are pointing fingers just like marks said -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

How do you suggest he end WWII? I would love to hear a good response. Talk to them nicely and try to get them to understand that taking over the world is not nice. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. -
So now you mean ROTC? ROTC is not active duty...cadets in ROTC and the military colleges get all sorts of badges and awards of achievement when they are done, not all of that follows to active duty. The only two ribbons that transfer to active duty are marksman and Academy grad. Since we're apparently talking ROTC, only one ribbon can transfer and a very very small percentage of ROTC cadets are marksmen. What does ROTC ribbons and REMFs have to do with 911, anyway? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

I think revenge, as you put it, is preemptively securing our homeland against further attack. If we just rolled over and took it up the ass then more groups would join without fear of retribution. Yeah we know arabs hate us. If, in 2000, we had started racial profiling at airports the ACLU and every other activist group would've throw a fit. The 911 attackers only used box cutters to take over the plane. It's not like they snuck on vest bombs and hand guns. Arabs are still allowed on flights today. The only things stopping another takeover are air marshals and a security bar on the flight deck door. Passengers these days wouldn't let it get that far anyway. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Dude, make up your mind. Is invading another country ok or not. You think going into Iraq was wrong but want to march on over into Pakistan? -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

It was 4% in 2000. Yes it's up, no argument there. But you act like it's all Bush's fault. What's congress doing? The stock market being down 3% is Bush's fault and that means we shouldn't vote for McCain? The Dow was roughly 11,000 in 2000. It closed yesterday at 11,220 with a 52 week high of 14,200. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

I can't help but notice everyone is ignoring the fact it was released by by AlJazeeraEnglish. Can anyone really take it seriously? Yeah the dude was shot in leg while blindfolded but who was he? Who shot him? What did he do? What happened afterward? What country were the in? Did the guy actually get shot? You're all arguing over an Al Jazeera video. The same fucks that posted videos of American beheadings. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

Fair enough. I can't say I'm thrilled that nuclear weapons were tested and put in the inventory. I understand your point, none the less -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.
