  3. my boss just sent me this via email. some of the minute points are kinda dated views of an old man, but i agree with the overall theme- homeboy is inexperienced as sh*t!!! (i have no clue or any way to confirm if this is actually a letter from Mr. Lear- but i promise i did not spend the time to write it, just a copy and paste from an email...) Most Americans are aware of Bill Lear, because of his Lear Jet business; however, he has accomplished much more, as you can see at this link: William P. Lear -- Britannica Online Encyclopedia . His opinions are worth a read: Dear friends, I am truly astonished by the ignorance Obama supporters have displayed in their quest to get someone - ANYONE - into the White House. Now, wait a minute. I can well understand your dislike or even hatred of GWB, but he is not the root cause of all of our problems. Our Congress is. And a change there would be welcomed by all. You ain't gonna get it done with Obama. You gotta fire the whole damnable crooked Congress. (Read my book, "BERNIE'S WAR!"). Perhaps I'm looking at all of this from a different perspective than you because my life experiences have been so different from yours. I'm 80-years old and have traveled the world where I've seen a great deal. I spent five years on active duty as a fighter pilot in the USAF and another seven years flying with the Air National Guard in California and Texas as well as a few years flying in the USAF Reserve. I spent three years on active duty in Germany flying Czech border patrol with "cold guns" in aircraft inferior to the MIG during the Korean "Police Action" when it was thought that Korea was a diversion for a Soviet invasion of Western Europe .. I lived abroad for a total of 28 years. Three years in Germany, twenty years in Switzerland and five years in Great Britain where I was based doing "spook" work for the U.S. behind the Iron Curtain before it fell. During that era of the Cold War I ventured to Moscow, Prague, Warsaw, Bucharest, Peshawar, Pakistan and Bulgaria posing as a Swiss French-speaking arms dealer purchasing weapons we surreptitiously supplied to the Afghani Mujahedeen in their successful fight against the Soviets - all of which came back to haunt us. I've been there and done that and have had close associations with top government people in Germany , the Netherlands and Great Britain . I've had more foreign affair experience than Obama could ever dream of and, yet, wouldn't have the temerity to deign myself "Presidential" material; although I feel eminently more qualified to judge who would NOT be best for our country. My long-time world experience should count for something in my plea to you to abandon this miscreant flake. You will only be doing yourself and our country an enormous disservice if you persist in your support of this flash-in-the-pan opportunist. On this, you MUST trust me. I've associated closely with European royalty and African politicians. I've traveled to the Far East to observe their cultures. My point is that Obama, although formally well educated and a brilliant orator, is a neophyte when it comes to understanding the world and is uniquely unqualified for the job as President of these great United States . His knowledge of economics is nil and his tax proposals absurd and life-threatening to the U.S. not only in economic terms but in preserving our national security as well. I don't want a "citizen of the world" to be President, I want a citizen of the good old USA to be President. Screw the rest of the world as they have well and truly screwed us. The time has come for us to awaken and start looking after ourselves. Now THAT would be CHANGE if that's what you're looking for. While McCain has abstained from playing "the race-card", Obama is playing it to the hilt even though he's technically not an African-American. To qualify for this distinction you must be at least one-sixth black. Obama is only one-eighth. His father would be, as he was one-sixth. No, Obama is more Muslim than black yet he trades on his blackness. The larger question I have about him is that we really don't know much about him other than what HE tells us, what we read on blogs and from some serious non-partisan investigators whose factual reports are, unfortunately, generally ignored and which receive precious little media exposure. I, as a registered Independent, a military veteran and a patriot, beseech you to put aside party considerations and vote for the lesser of the two evils. Yes, I am NOT a McCain supporter, but he is, at least, not a flake, doesn't carry Muslim baggage and is a PROVEN hero and patriot WITH experience. It's not a party issue. It's all about electing the best we can trust with what we've got to work with. Mr. Obama is NOT that guy. Please, please rethink your voting position. Thanks for reading my innermost thoughts. I care about all of you, but I care more about our country. Please help me to do both. William P. (Bill) Lear, Jr. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

  9. Were they born into the CEO position? They took risks and busted their asses for years to make it to that level. The media neglects to mention how they are all getting the living p*ss sued out of them as the bureaucrats of the country have made them personally responsible for absolutely everything, even when out of their control. You'll see a few of these poor guys go to jail too. There are very few execs that are bad people, most of them want to expand and create jobs and service a demand. That's my motivation to make it to the top. The media just focuses on the numbers that they are paid which in reality are incentive to bring the good ones in and give them a carrot to make the company do well. You gonna pay dan marino or elway 50K a year? No, they got the big bucks because they were great. None of those guys wake up and go, "welp, I'm gonna go f*ck up a company, ruin my reputation, and help destroy the economy today to get my severence" They would have made significantly more, which they would have deserved, if they had done their job well. A few bad eggs (Enron and the famous ones) and jealousy ruin it for everybody. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  10. Unfortuantely don't have time to address everything in your post but you made some pretty good points and the poverty stats by unicef were pretty interesting. I dunno, I guess i still feel that it is pretty ridiculous for a person to keep less than half they make, even if it is $100M. And if i were to be paying 50M+ in taxes, it would drive me nuts to not have any say in where it went. (i know, not realistic- corruption etc etc.) I mean I make jack sh*t right now, well below 6 figures and still somehow living in the state of CA with all the local and federal programs i take home like 60-65% of what I make. I know as i move up the ranks I'll keep proportionately less and less. I guess i just view tax cuts for everybody, while still keeping it tiered, better than punishment for the motivated and successful (yes there are always outliers like Ms. Hilton) and breaks for those that settle for status quo. There are SO many taxes we pay between sales, income, property, fuel, energy, state, luxury, business, social security- it never stops. yes, I have choices to move elsewhere to avoid certain taxes, but in the big picture it just seems (like all americans now-a-days) that we spend way WAY too much on way too much, it's like there is no prioritization ever- red or blue running the country. Why punish the people for things like Palin's roads/bridges to no where, or all the earmarks up and down the eastern seaboard. Ultimately I find we are doomed to forever choose between the lesser of 2 evils. I find that to be true globally- who REALLY makes a career in politics that is worth a d*mn. No one, because those are the people that end up successful in other endeavors (business, non-profit or otherwise) and put up with the monkeys and red tape that run the planet until it becomes unbearable. Scary. That was longer than i intended... So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  11. What's wrong with being able to become a billionaire, or multimillionaire in your country? And is it evil that once people make large sums of money that they want to keep it vs. hand it all over to be dispersed by some professional baby kisser (right or left)? I can't figure out why people look at becoming wealthy as bad, uncool, evil etc? The rich already pay significantly more taxes than anyone else by FAR. Why do they not deserve to keep what they earned? Is it just jealousy? I hope one day I work hard enough to put myself in the position to get paid millions, why is that a bad dream to have? Also, (and I dont know any statistics, so I'm asking) is the USA's poverty rate and homeless rate significantly higher than the majority of the rest of the world? I've been to a dozen or so countries (including some in europe) and I am always very thankful when I come home cuz I feel like we got it pretty good here. All insight is welcome
  12. bottom line- the tunnel works. if you get good coaches and listen to em you be able to do sh*t that would take hundreds or thousands of skydives in just a few hours of tunnel time. you'll learn to fly with every part of your body, so eventually making the switch from tunnel to sky with a rig becomes increasingly negligible. Sure, there are a few differences but the more you fly the better you get, it is that simple.
  13. So mysterious! I yearn for more! ha ha! Good tickets to a game is always a plus if you can confirm they are fans. I'm in hotels so my job is to go over the top and wow people i'd say tix or a pen with initials. I'll see what else some of my peops think of and throw a few more via PM, what is your time frame on it? So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
  14. Kiting oversized student canopies in heavy wind evolved into Redneck parasailing which evolved into redneck parasailing/BASE jumping. canopy on a harness connected to a rope connected to a truck (or van) rigged with a cut away. Go for a ride behind the truck and get some altitude. cut away from the tow line and float down... OR if you're somewhat insane put the initial harness under a base rig- chop the tow line, chop the main, deploy base rig. It's on video, i do not have the cajones to execute it, props to my buddy(ies)
  15. When do we get breathalizers on phones? Assign which contacts are not to be called and/or texted over a .08ish, maybe .1... Where are my engineers? I'll market the hell out of it!

  17. My point was skyride and they're supporters are not going to waste any time with meaningles prate on DZ.com Especially after so much time into the mess. They'll stay smart, keep making money, skydiving, and give themselves the best opportunities to win their legal battles. It's a heads up move not to be babbling with a bunch of .commers that want em gone. Plus they're probably bored with the same 'ol same 'ol from the same 'ol same 'ol. So there I was... 20. not to rehash what i mentioned in the one of the other threads... but while on the loving topic of farts, the occasional unexpected yet well timed shart always adds some, errr ummm, "flavor" to the skydiving scene... can you taste it? 21. In college I worked at a restaurant called "The Blue Footed Booby Canoe Club" We'd semi-frequently get calls from guests' wives not knowing a blue footed booby was a bird, and well, with the word club following the word booby they'd get very suspicious. Was actually very family friendly. Good place, closed down about a year ago So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983

  24. Well no sh*t, ha ha! But it takes 45 minutes to get the 45 seconds of actual freefall in. My buddy and I just flew 30 minutes straight last week in the tunnel. Tunnel has no weather holds either. I think I've already doubled the amount ive spent on lift tickets in tunnel time in 1/10 the timeframe. Much easier to lose money faster in the tunnel. Also much easier to get skillz faster. So there I was... Making friends and playing nice since 1983
