My 1st canopy was a Viking Superlite! -
OK- HOW COLD WAS IT? jumping no door aircraft
Faicon9493 replied to jackwallace's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
The coldest jump I can remember was a winter jump out of the Beech-18 with no door at Hinkley, IL. -
Old Timers, How many sport static lines did you make?
Faicon9493 replied to captain1976's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
I made 6 SL jumps. When I made my 5th SL, I ran out of daylight to do the clear & pull so when I came back, I had to do an extra SL. -
(for the purpose of this thread, lets define old school as consisting of mostly four digit USPA D-numbers and foreign equivalents) Hey! I resemble that remark! (LOL) By the way, I owned a racer back in the day and it was the most comfortable H/C I ever owned.

I am sorry to hear about this. I worked for him at his DZ in Pahokee, FL after I moved to Florida about 11 years ago. I also remember him at Skydive Sandwich in Illinois. I knew him to be a good man.

I remember Hebron! They had a AN-2. It was a comfortable ride but very slow getting to altitude.
-
I would have to say that "back in the day" refers to a time when certain types of equipment (like rounds parachutes) were common on the DZ but rarely seen today. Also consider the number of products that have aone by the wayside since you started skydiving.

I used to rubber-band the slider to the tail of the canopy on my Viking. I think, though, that the snivel-snivel-snivel-snap opening that seems to be popular now isn't any improvement. You can have a fast opening, that as long as something is changing the whole time it's opening, isn't hard. Of course, I liked my Starlite, too Wendy P. Small world! The Viking was my first canopy.

Congratulations!

Orders coming out on the 26th should be with customers around the 7th. lots of people who have been patient should be seeing their ZPX pilots and Senseis over the next two weeks hopefully. If only PD could start releasing their Optimums, It would be a good month for dealers being able to finally get so many orders shipped if that happened. Please God, let July be the month of Magic and happy customers with their long awaited canopies I wonder when demo canopies will be available?
-
I know and I am on the list. Just wondered if demos were being shipped yet.
-
Anyone know if Aerodyne has started sending out demos of the new Sensei canopy yet?

Just wondering... Does anybody know how many skydivers you could pack into a C-5 Galaxy? It could be interesting if someone had connections with a fat cat in Dubai! I'm sure that 500+ skydivers wouldn't exceed the aircraft's gross takeoff weight.

I am currently jumping a Jedei 136 and a Vector II container. My pilot chute is the bungee cord type and it's time for a new one. I want to get a collapsible PC but I have some questions. 1. Best size? 2. ZP or F-111? 3. Can I install without taking it to a rigger? I welcome your input. Thanks.

HEY!!! I resemble that remark! I caught the tail end of the round parachute days (mains & reserves) and I'm glad those days are over.
-
Thanks for another great boogie!

Any idea on how much the L-39 will cost for a ride? I have a co-worker who wants to know.

Fantastic!!!

Are pictures or video going to be posted anywhere?

I am strictly a belly flyer and I am definately not the skinny jumper that I was back in 1980. When I needed a new suit, I ordered a Bev Comp Suit with spandex forearms but I also added a small wing, swoop cords, and forearm sleeves. As it turns out, I get by fine with the forearm sleeves (and sometimes without) and don't use the swoop cords. Since falling fast is no longer a problem, it's nice having the sleeves and swoop cords to expand my fall rate range when necessary (for those skinny folks).
