  1. A Viking Superlite was the first canopy that I owned. It was a good canopy for it's time.
  2. I was sitting outside the clubhouse that morning and thought for an instant that I was going to get a C-182 in the face. We were all lucky that day. I remember who was on that load and I have a good idea who instigated it.
  3. Many years ago, I made some jumps at a dropzone (now closed) in Hebron, Illinois. They had a AN-2.
  4. Me taking my wife on her 1st tandem...
  5. A Viking Superlite was the first ram air canopy that I owned. I jumped it in a Wonderhog with a 26 LoPo with 4 line release. WHat a rig!
  6. If memory serves me right, I was on a load with Charlie at a boogie when he was 12. He was a good skydiver but he sure looked funny in the dirt dives!
  7. Perhaps this was a case of miscommunication because you were asked by the TM before the skydive if you had the OK from the management. You said yes. When we got down, management said this was NOT the case.
  8. When I jumped at the Sky Knights in East Troy, WI, a few years ago, I took a girl on a tandem and had to chop a line over malfunction. The landing was uneventful in a small cemetary maybe a mile from the airport. While I was gathering up the gear, a guy who was there flying a small helicopter landed in the cemetary and flew us back to the airport.
  9. The Skyvan or Casa gets my vote. I do tandems and you can't beat a tailgate aircraft for comfort.
  10. This is one of my favorites because after we landed, he told me that he was a retired USAF Brig. General. The tandem was for his 70th birthday.
  11. I was there too! Mike Anderson D-9493 P.S. Hi Eric!!! Remember me?
  12. I'm Black and I've been a skydiver since 1980. Also AFF and tandem rated. I'm on the staff at Air Adventures in Clewiston, FL.
  13. I've been in Florida a few years now but I miss the Sky Knights in E. Troy, WI. Many good people up there.
  14. I once did a hop-n-pop at 13,000 and had a bird fly by me at 11,500. This was in Florida.
  15. I had a Pegasus "back in the day" and remember it as one of the best 7 cell F-111 canopies made. I loved it.
  16. His real wouldn't happen to be Jack Wallace, would it?
  17. Carolina Sky Sports did manage Skydive America for a short period of time but this ended at the end of March. Skydive America is closed.
  18. Yes, Skydive America closed a few weeks ago with the former owner walking away leaving staff unpaid........but that's another story.
  19. My first canopy was a Pioneer Viking Superlite. It was made to compete with the Para-Flite Strato-Cloud.
  20. Birds can sometimes be at higher altitudes. I made a high hop-n-pop one day and had a small bird fly by me at 11,000 feet as I was under canopy.
  21. While at a boogie in Minnesota in 1987, I was on a 30-way attempt to set a new state record. Some skydivers from my home DZ were on a sponsored demo team and in the area. As the record attempt was climbing to altitude, they were flying in to spend some down time at the boogie. Instead of landing, they climbed to altitude with us in their 182. I was in the outside row and the formation completed really high. To my surprize, I felt someone dock on my leg. At the same time, I looked up and saw a grinning and familiar face from my home DZ. There were some grumbles after we landed but I thought it was great and I have it on video. The "bandit" jumpers were Mike Starck and Bobby Blanchard from the Sky Knights Parachute Club in East Troy, WI.
  22. I once had a cutaway on a tandem jump in East Troy, WI. and I followed the main down. It came down in a cemetary not too far from the DZ. While I was gathering everything up, a guy who was flying a helicopter in the area landed, picked us up, and flew us back to the club house.
  23. My first jump was Oct. 4, 1980, at Sky Knights Sport parachute Club in East Troy, WI. (T-10, chest-mounted reserve, jump boots Bell helment - YAHOO!)
