Any of you have problems changing the lens on the OXYGN A3 or is it just me?

Best single-engined jump plane?
Faicon9493 replied to riggerrob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The coolest single engine plane that I ever jumped was Mike Mullins' Helio Stallion, but that was a long time ago. -

AN 2 jump. Do you want it at the WFFC?
Faicon9493 replied to Fleahop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Many years ago, a DZ in Hebron, IL had a AN-2. I remember it as having a roomy cabin but extremely slow getting to altitude. It was great, however, to have a chance to jump a rare aircraft, in this country anyway. -
I remember him from back in the day when I was in the midwest. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I remember him as a good guy to be around.

I have had my Majik style Bev suit long enough to become comfortable with it and it's probably the last suit I will ever need. Since I'm not the skinny skydiver that I was 25 years ago, I got mine with the small wing and swoop cords. Without using them, I can do 118-119 mph without working at it. I've used the swoop cords when jumping with the lightweights and been as slow as 112 mph without sacraficing performance. I got the slip-on sleeves just in case but I haven't had to use them. I would recommend this suit to anyone looking for a quality jumpsuit.

I just got a replacement visor for my Oxygn A3. What is the trick to putting it on? It came with no instructions.

I once had a level 1 AFF student who was doing a good job of following radio commands after opening. His wife was near the landing area with a camera. When he was set up to land at approx. 75 feet, he dropped both toggles to wave at the camera! Fortunately, he grabbed them just in time to flair for landiing.

Most interesting out landing?
Faicon9493 replied to Hazarrd's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I had a tandem malfunction years ago at my former DZ. After cutting away, I followed the main down and we landed in a cemetary not far from the airport. After gathering the gear, we were picked up by a guy who was out flying his helicopter that day. He flew us back to the DZ. -

I remember one day when I did a high hop & pop to cool off. A bird flew by my canopy when I was at 11,000 feet.

I just got the Majik style Bev Suit and I am very impressed with the quality and performance.

This was my firt weekend with the new Majik style comp suit. The quality appears to be excellent and the performance was just what I was looking for. Since I'm not the skinny jumper that I was 25 years ago, I ordered my suit with spandex arms but also the small 3 inch wing and swoop cords. On one jump, I forgot the swoop cords but didn't need them. The booties are great compared to my old Tony suit. I was a bit disappointed with the long wait but it was worth it.

Way back in the day, I had a GQ Security Alpha System. It was one of most comfortable H/C systems that I ever owned. It had a SAC round reserve and I sold it right before the acid mesh problem came up.

I'm on the verge of ordering a new RW jumpsuit and I'm leaning toward the Majik style suit by Bev Suits. What is your experience with this product in terms of comfort, functionality, and durability?

How did you get into skydiving?
Faicon9493 replied to sparknote_s's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am an educator. I had to go to a high school one Friday afternoon in the Spring of 1980. When I got there, the entire school was sitting outside in the football stadium. One of their ROTC instructors told me they were outside to see an exhibition of the Golden Knights. That was the first time that I saw skydiving in person and it was amazing. I didn't pursue it right away because I thought you could only do it in the military. Some months later, I happened to meet a man who was a skydiver at a party and the rest is history. Anyone remember Steve March from Illinois
Faicon9493 replied to freakbrother's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am shocked to hear about his passing. I had jumped with Steve years ago when I lived in Illinois and before moving to Florida. We even did a few demos together as part of the Pegasus Skydiving Team many years ago. He was a good guy and a very skilled skydiver. I would appreciate any details about what happened. Just saw the FB website, and it brought back memories. Anybody remember the Booze Brothers band from the old conventions? -Jay FB#1308 NNFB#131 (I think) I remember them. Bob Blanchard was a band member and a skydiver. We both jumped at the Sky Knights in East Troy, WI back in the day. Unfortunately, he was killed while doing a tandem many years ago. Remeber the risk involved in trying to snag items while under canopy. It is better to try to keep an eye on it, land safely, and then go pick it up.
