What is so evil about requiring id to vote?

Try going to a pharmacy where employees know you. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -
No I didn't, at least not specifically. So far you've dismissed posters who disagree with you as Nimbys, radicals and the uninformed -plus of course the thread title. And still no engagement on the content. Are you going to play the ball or the player? It's pretty clear that he's trying to get the player to present a ball to play. So bring out your balls then. We're still waiting for rushmc to do that. You should feel free, too. Yours are always easy to hit out of the park. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

I assumed we were all talking about voter id being required to compare to the name on the polling place books that were compiled through voter registration. That already happens. No photo ID required. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

That isn't what most picture ID to vote proposals do. They don't require everyone to re-register to vote. For argument's sake, your proposal changes nothing except disenfranchising citizens without a picture ID. It wouldn't prevent people from registering and voting in multiple precincts. As is currently the case. As verified by signature, those things that are sufficient for legal contracts. No it wouldn't. Lots of people live at an address different from their ID. Like now? So, nothing changes, except requiring a picture ID, solving nothing, except disenfranchising citizens with no picture ID. Why aren't you concerned about the people who get utility bills for addresses other than their residence? How will requiring a picture ID prevent them from voting in multiple precincts? What fraudsters would those be? The imaginary ones of which the Republicans want us to be scared? How about a If the Republicans were actually concerned about potential voter fraud, they would propose something that closes holes in the system instead of disenfranchising voters. Requiring a picture ID doesn't do that. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

Same here. In principle, I could have voted in both locations. And I could have easily shown a picture ID at each place when doing so. A picture ID requirement won't remedy that potentially exploitable flaw in the system. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

What gave you that idea? Was it the statement where I said I want everyone to vote legally, but also secure the integrity of the voting process, or the part where I suggested governmental programs that would help people get an id if they could not on their own? Because none of that suggests what you claim.. There is no reason to suggest the integrity of the voting process is compromised, and the potential scenarios you suggest would not be solved by requiring a picture ID to vote. As has been admitted by some of the requirement's advocates, the goal of the requirement is to disenfranchise voters who are inclined to vote for Democrats, trying to sneakily implement "an unconstitutional poll tax." But then you've already shown us how you are disinclined to govern within the limits of what's allowed by the Constitution. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

Completely incorrect. Where I live you have to register to vote you can only register in 1 district. This puts you in the books. When you show up to vote your name is on a list with an open spot next to it. You show your id, sign in the block next to your name no one can vote for you anywhere else period. That's pretty much how it works most places. But if someone manages to register in two precincts, a picture ID requirement won't stop anyone from voting in the first precinct, then driving to the second precinct and voting there. A picture ID requirement won't prevent that at all. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials! -

No, only ignored them. How would that system work? Fingerprint?.....ID? Ummm, no. An ID wouldn't make any difference with that. It would have to occur with the registration process. That's the thing about requiring a picture ID. It wouldn't do anything to prevent people from voting in multiple precincts. But, since that isn't an actual problem, it's a moot point. Examples? Or just an irrational fear? Pretty simple, really. Put a system in place to verify citizens are only registered in one voting precinct. Such a system may very well be in place, which would help explain why the widespread voting fraud Republicans are crying wolf about doesn't actually occur. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! I rarely ever need my driver license. I use direct deposit and debit cards. I'm car-free. For better or worse, on the rare occasions I purchase alcohol, I don't usually get carded. And I don't use tobacco. I've never had any problem buying spray paint, super glue, or OTC meds without it, though I don't purchase those products in bulk. I use my license seldom enough that, if money was tight at renewal time, it would be a low priority expense. This summer was an exception. I went on a 3200 mile bicycle tour, and had an unusually large (for me) number of interactions with the police on the trip. I didn't need the license, since I wasn't driving, but it undoubtedly expedited the encounters. Even when I had to visit the ER, I suspect I would have been able to see a doctor even if I didn't have an ID. I have no intention of giving up my ID, but I often don't bother carrying it because it isn't necessary for day to day life. (I don't use a wallet, so I don't automatically have it with me.)
