Also true. However, only 20 percent of elderly households rely solely on Social Security for their income. Unfortunately, only about 36 percent of elderly Americans receive less than 50 percent of their income from Social Security. Not true. SS taxes are anticipated to be exceeded by SS benefits in 2017. Best estimates suggest that in 2041, 100 percent of currently scheduled benefits will no longer be payable due to trust fund exhaustion, and benefits will be reduced to 75 percent. The fact remains that current benefits are not sustainable at current tax rates, and the longer we wait to address the issue, the greater the cost to fix it. How did the drive go bad? What indications are there? Is it recognized at all by the OS? You said the drive was previously used with Windows. What OS are you using now? The first thing I would do, since you say the drive is bad, is a bit level copy of the entire drive onto a drive known to be good. That way you deal with access problems independently of drive problems. That assumes, of course, that the drive has enough life left to be copied. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Generally, with significant figures, the last significant digit is assumed to be an estimate. For example, If I take a meter stick with millimeter graduations and use it to measure my desk, I can legitimately arrive at a length such as 97.54 cm. The 4 is an estimation; maybe 97.53 cm or 97.55 cm is more accurate. The 4 serves to give an indication of the desk's length relative to exactly 97.5 cm and exactly 97.6 cm. If I read 26 light years, I think approximately 25 - 27 light years. If I read 26.0 light years, I think approximately 25.9 - 26.1 light years. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! It's not that it hasn't withstood testing via the scientific method. It's that it is not testable via the scientific method. That's why it has no place at all in science classes. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Images of Mars suggest that between 1999 and 2005, some of the frozen carbon dioxide that covers the south polar region turned into gas (sublimated). Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

Basically, water vapor is a more important greenhouse gas than CO2, but because CO2 will cause heating independently of water vapor, as man-made CO2 increases global heating, water vapor will increase too, boosting the amount of warming with a positive feedback loop. How much exactly is up for debate, and there’s not a long enough data series on water vapor in the atmosphere to know everything. But just because humans can’t increase or decrease water vapor in the air directly doesn’t mean that CO2 heating of the air won’t do so indirectly. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Plug in iPod. Don't let iTunes start. You may need to quit iTunes Helper via Activity Monitor. You want the iPod mounted in Finder, not iTunes. In Finder's menubar: Go -> Go to Folder… /Volumes/Name_of_your_iPod/iPod_Control/Music/F00 that's Eff zero zero Click Go (or press return or enter) Select all of the files (they'll have strange names at this point, don't worry about that) in F00 folder and drag them to: ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music ~ refers to your home folder Go back to Finder's menubar: Go -> Go to folder… /Volumes/Name_of_your_iPod/iPod_Control/Music/F01 Click Go (or press return or enter) Drag the files to the iTunes Music folder. (if by chance there is a problem with another file of the same name already existing, you can create a folder within the iTunes Music folder for each F** folder on the iPod from which you are copying. Repeat process, incrementing the F** folder name by one (i.e. F00, F01, F02, etc.), until Finder can't find the folder. The number of F** folders varies with iPod model (or perhaps the amount of music on the iPod, I'm not sure which). When all the files are copied to the iTunes Music folder, eject the iPod, and start iTunes. Now, drag all the files from the iTunes Music folder in Finder into the iTunes application window's Library (top of left side panel). The songs should appear in your library with their proper names. While you have the F** folders visible in finder, you may want to create an alias to each one and place it in the iPod's root directory, and a copy in your Music folder, as well. These will make it quick and easy to access your files without having to use the Go to Folder… option in Finder. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

The only faith required for evolutionary theory is faith in the scientific method. Thus, evolution belongs in science classes. ID is not testable with the scientific method. Thus, it has no place in science classes. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!

So you say. Intelligent Design has no problem with evolutionary biology, it is obviously a very intelligent way God has chosen to maintain His creation. As far as the origins of life, the claim made by evolutionary biology of " chance occurrence" defies statistical possibility and requires as much faith as saying God did it. ID is not a credible scientific hypothesis because it cannot be tested and disproved, a requirement of any valid scientific hypothesis. If supporters of ID can provide a testable hypothesis, scientists would be more than happy to test it. I'm confident there are many chomping at the bit waiting for that very opportunity. But, until that testable hypothesis is available, Intelligent Design, right or wrong, is not science, as the scientific method requires testability. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! The nature of science is such that things can rarely be absolutely proven, only absolutely disproved. Are you asserting that most reasonable people ignore available evidence when forming their opinions? Are you claiming that those who claim man has not contributed to global warming simply don't want to be bothered with scientific studies, but we should accept their conclusions over those of scientists who choose to subject their papers to peer review? What info is that, sir? Certainly if the info is credible it would pass peer review and be published in respected scientific journals. Are you suggesting there is some sort of conspiracy that thousands of scientists are involved in, trying to withhold the truth from people? Why would that be? What do scientists have to gain from such a thing? They will get funding to advance scientific knowledge regardless of whether that funding is granted for studying global warming, its causes and its effects. As I previously stated, that's not how the scientific method works. While I'm strangely flattered that you think I have that much power, the reality is that I have only one vote, same as you. Since science is not designed to provide such proof, the best I can do is weigh the evidence, which at this point in time is fairly one-sided, and draw my own conclusion. Feel free to do the same. What bogus law would that be, sir? I'm confident that if whatever law you are referring to is bogus, SCOTUS will strike it down. Our Founding Fathers had the foresight to build checks and balances of the three branches of our federal government into the Constitution. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! But when you do drive, what do you drive? I've driven my 4 cylinder 5 speed Toyota pickup approximately 500-600 miles in the past eighteen months. Hey great! IF EVERYONE in the world did THIS one, it would amount to .0000000000000000000000000001 degrees (Celcius) over the next 27 millenium. You would be surprised. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are power sucking radio transmitters and receivers. Intel's Core architecture offers significantly more computing power per watt than their Pentium line offered, and the dual core versions increase performance by approximately 75% over single core versions, while only consuming about 1% more power. Laptop CPUs offer significant additional power savings compared to their desktop counterparts. Furthermore, the LCD screens used in laptops offer significant power savings compared to CRT monitors still in use on desktop computers in many homes. Actually, my skydiving career is currently on hold at least until I graduate, so I'm not currently riding anything to altitude. I never much cared for King Airs, though. They probably top my list for least desirable jump planes. I prefer an Otter or something with a tailgate. Heck, I'd even prefer a C-182 over a King Air. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! Thank you for making my point. The scientific evidence suggests that global warming is real, and humans are a significant contributor. In lieu, of scientific evidence to the contrary, most reasonable people conclude that there is a very high probability that the scientists who published their studies in peer reviewed journals are correct in their conclusions. If there aren't many/any peer reviewed studies refuting the evidence supporting global warming and man as a significant contributor, then there would appear to be a consensus. The evidence seems to be fairly one-sided at this point. That is why I wanted to ask you for evidence supporting your claim that GW is a hoax. By all means. I never told you how you should live your life. You're absolutely correct. We humans are powerless to destroy the earth. However, it does appear that we do have the power to change the climate significantly enough to have a major affect on the quality of life of future generations. But that doesn't matter, since the earth will survive with or without humans, right? Why are you so defensive? I didn't ask you to change anything to fit my view. I simply asked if you had any evidence to support your learned opinion. As passionately as you argue that man doesn't contribute to global warming, I thought perhaps you were aware of scientific studies that the rest of us weren't privy to. If you don't have the evidence, you don't have the evidence. It's not a big deal. I'll just continue accepting the conclusions of scientists that do have scientific evidence to support their conclusions. No one is trying to force you to accept evidence that you would prefer to ignore. This isn't a court and you're not a juror. There's no need to get . I hope you had a nice weekend, sir. Actually, I hadn't responded to a single post you've made in this thread. However, as you seem to be so confident about global warming being a big lie, feel free to post links to a few scientific studies published in respected peer reviewed journals that support your claim. Thus far, the only "scientists" from whom I've read opinions about global warming being a hoax, as you call it, skip the study and peer reviewed, and just go straight to the opinion section of newspapers, blogs, etc. Since you are obviously better informed than anybody else on this topic, I'm sure you'll have no problem providing credible supporting evidence. I'm not sure relying on BAC to determine intoxication level has practical benefits. I've known many people who were well over the legal limit (presumably, considering how much they drank in what timeframe) who would be considered completely sober by anyone who had not seen them drink. By the same token, I've seen people who would not be over the legal limit, but were near falling down drunk. To me, that indicates the legal limit is arbitrary, which has the unintended consequence of encouraging people to simply "not get caught." I'm not condoning drunk driving. However, I would like to see a system that punishes driving while actually intoxicated, and not just driving with a blood alcohol level exceeding some arbitrary line. Math tutoring available. I watched it yesterday. It was political propaganda, combining sensationalist footage of violence and Koranic verses out of context in order to convince viewers that Islam is a religion of violence. It is no different from someone taking footage of KKK or Eric Rudolph violence, adding some out of context Bible verses, and claiming that Christianity is a religion of violence. Either might appear credible to those ignorant of the topic, but neither would be an accurate representation of the religion. Let there be no compulsion in religion. That sounds a lot like our University Physics and College Physics in Florida. I've also changed my major since I took Univ. Physics 1-3, and my new major requires College Physics 1 (or 2), so I'll have to try to get a waiver of some sort so I can substitute one of my UP classes for the requirement. I agree that Calculus makes it easier to understand. In either case, the classes are essentially survey classes. The concepts really aren't explored in depth until Mechanics, E&M, etc, when the formulas aren't given, but rather derived. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
