What a great post, Sunshine deserves a good Thank You thread. Thank you Sunshine for not letting me go home with an unpacked rig, and for going on a beer run with me when no one else would. But thats no excuse for doing RW. Joe. Convince me to visit your dz for a week!!
freeflyimpaired replied to WrongWay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Man, whats every body have against 182's. Just like a caravan except it doesn't hold as many people, doesn't climb as fast, and doesn't go as high. Other than that its pretty much the same thing. Yeah, you should definitely come to Nebraska for a week, oh, by the way we're not open during the week. Joe. Nebraska Boogie - July 15-17th
freeflyimpaired replied to NEcrewDOG's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I can't believe she's punking out on us. Who is going to come to our boogie if Sunshine doesn't come to our boogie? See if I ever come visit you again. jk. $18 dollar jumps and good showers, where are you going to beat that. No excuses will be heard. I'm getting trained on the manifest today. I'm going to be the manifest Nazi. Having an organized manifest is going to exponitally speed things up. So pack fast cause were going to be turning loads like crazy. Joe. :28:Lots I had the coolest freakin weekend of my life. I don't even know where to start, I met so many people at SDC this weekend and did so many cool jumps. Sunshine was a riot, she wasn't nearly as scary as I thought she would be (even though she had to explain most of her jokes to me, as I'm apparently a little slow) I had a blast hanging out with her for the better part of the weekend. For me, being a lurker on here, it was kinda like hanging out with a celebrity. I also got to jump with Judit (If you haven't met her she is such an awesome woman who has lived more in her life than most people could live in 10) and Doublespock, both are great freefliers and we had some incredible jumps. Also met Vdrschoor, Gentry, Cocheese and so many others I can't remember their names. Jumping wise: First freefly competition, largest headdown formation (7), largest attempted formation, and just some of the coolest jumps ever. I got to jump with Kate Hoffsteter, Mike Wittenberg and Rook Nelson and lots more. Kate and Mike were organizing the best jumps I've ever been on. I'm leaving out so many incredible experiences from this weekend its sad. I can't wait to go back to SDC, I swear to gawd I can't [/Donnie Baker]. Joe. Right On! That is an awesome post, I love seeing people excited about the sport. Keep on jumpin, it only gets better. Joe. "Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." -
Weather holds are always a problem for students, and there will be many weekends where you will be unable to jump. That in mind, as long as your other jumps went well, I don't think they would hold you back after just 13 days, but you would need to talk to you instructor to be sure. At my dropzone its 30 days and you'll have to go through a retrain after 90 day you may have to go back to the static line. Joe. I bet you could beat the weatherman for accuracy. They forecasted 89 for today and we hit 101. Apparently you would never have to worry about getting fired no matter how far off you were, its the one job you could consistently screw up and nobody cares. Do you have a Hott voice? I was pretty shocked when I saw this. http://www.forsakethetroops.net/mission.html Check out the Punk Soldiers link. Who would wish that on our troops. Sickos. Nebraska Boogie - July 15-17th
freeflyimpaired replied to NEcrewDOG's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Uhh, dude, do you remember last year? 150 people, 80 tandems, 1 skyvan (that broke down sunday morning). Last year SUCKED!! I hope its nothing like last year. I only made 3 jumps. But thats why we have the otter coming and were keeping our jump prices at $18. We've named it the redemption boogie because we need to redeem ourselves, and I think were going to do just that. Its gonna be a rockin party. Hope to see ya there. Joe. On no its more than that! Its blatantly obvious. You'll wonder why you didn't notice it earlier when you stare at it long enough. Joe. "Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so."

Ian's right on with that. Just a couple years ago if you could even fly headdown you were one of the best. I think that became the standard to be considered a "good" freeflier. In the next few years I bet there will be a lot more emphasis placed on what you can do with you feet down. All I can say is I wish I was half as good in a sit as I am on my head. I know of a guy who at one point in time had more reserve rides than main rides on his gear. I wanna say 3 but it was probably 2 in his first 4 or 5 jumps on new gear. That is so Awesome!!! Riding up there in the bus will be worth the trip by itself. I can't wait, this is gonna be a riot. Does the boogie bus have departure and arrival dates for Omaha scheduled? I don't get monday off of work but I'm sure I could make it happen. (or at least find a new job when I get back. jk.) Sleep in the bus or do I need to get a tent? Joe.
