How do you stop massacres by mentally unstable people using guns?
DaVinci replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
This post of yours explains that you have actually no interest in anything but pushing your opinion on others. And I have to ask... What experience do YOU have in tactical shooting situations that allows you to have such an expert opinion? You are like the 5 jump wonder talking to YOU about how easy it is to jump a camera. -
Bull shit. You tried to compare a cops actions with a law for citizens. That is avoiding the question. They did in FL. Several DA's had an 'arrest anyone with a gun' policy. This resulted in several 'clear cut' self defense shooters spending tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. Then, the families of the attacker often sued the shooter, AGAIN resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees. THIS is why the SYG law was written, to protect people in clear cut cases from spending a fortune trying to stay out of trouble from overzealous DA's and greedy opportunists. You can do a search and read up on it if you like.

I read your biased post. The fact is that it is clear you do not have any idea of tactics used in a firefight. Shooting and hitting someone even with body armor will normally make them run or deal with the threat. It is difficult to engage a target when you are taking rounds. Hitting guy in the body (even with body armor) will make him hurt like hell and allow you to get away, or close the distance. It is clear you do not know tactics beyond a paintball range and tried to create a situation that you thought would not work to prove a point. When presented with data that proves you and your scenario incorrect, you just discount it.

Total BS. You made a personal attack and then tried to claim you didn't.... Now you are just trying to misdirect instead of just admitting what you did. Typical of you to make one, and then claim you didn't

Yes, you are. Why do you think the Founding Fathers had a 2nd Amendment and made sure it was spelled out? I'll give you a hint, it was not for hunting and was not for self defense - Read the Founding Fathers thoughts on Blackstone. Those rights were considered everyday rights and they saw no reason to even mention them since it was a given. Again, why do you think the Founding Fathers specifically wrote the 2nd?

And yet there are more gun laws now than back then..... -
We know that not having a gun didn't help. You keep talking about 'last resort'.... Well, I'd bet the dead in CO would have loved an option as opposed to just trying to escape. And so many people are afraid to jump without an AAD even though they could avoid the very small danger of being knocked out in freefall. And many people carry a spare tire in the unlikely event that they will get a flat, some people have a fire extinguisher in the small chance they will have a fire. ETC....... You are showing YOUR fears here. You claim to not be afraid of bad guys.... Yet here you are trying to disarm everyone so you will feel safer.

Because you replied to me replying to him. Simple really. The regulations pertaining to guns are already MORE restrictive than pertaining to beer. I have shown that already. For example: * There is no background check to buy beer. * There are no forms that are filled out to buy beer. * If you look over the age of 21 - They do not ask to see ID to buy beer at a store, yet I have to show ID to buy a gun at a store. * I can make a give away beer all day, I am not allowed to do the same with firearms. Firearms are ALREADY more restrictive than beer.

Then maybe you should ask Bill why he used it as an example?
-
It is completely relevant... You created the cover charge and then created a penalty for not going.
-
I thought there were rules about personal attacks?
-
Then you should be able to provide a bunch of data showing this is a common problem.....
-
The first one i said that a cop and a citizen are not the same thing. And there you have it... they are NOT the same thing. A cop says I pulled a gun on him, I claim I didn't... Who are the other cops going to believe? We might be getting somewhere. How about in clear cases of SD that you would not have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees? How about in clear cases of SD the criminal could not sue you later? Both are protections that FL's SYG give you that normal SD defense laws do not.

5B is still 5B. Can't you agree?
-
You seem to be ignoring the Founding Fathers reason for the 2nd.

Google Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.

Total BS. You claim this was not a personal attack? I expected the reply from DaVinci. Thought you had better logical thinking skills. Typical of you to make one, and then claim you didn't
-
No, I answered, you just didn't seem to understand the answers. And you don't get that a cop and a citizen are not the same thing? You don't get that a cop has a HIGHER duty to act properly than a citizen? You just argued why SYG is a good. If a cop has no duty to retreat, why should a lower trained civilian? But to answer you question, cops have several levels to respond to a threat. A drunk guy swinging on a cop will normally get taserd, or pepper sprayed... Options that are not expected of a civilian.
-
Again, you said "I haven't said or implied anything about changing gun laws". When you have in fact made suggestions.
-
Do you not understand that a defensive stand is not the same as hitting a target?
-
And there is the problem... There are plenty of examples where a citizen with a gun did stop a criminal with a gun. You jest refuse to admit that. Why ONLY let the nuts have access to the controls?
-
Depended. There were times we knew it would be there, there were times we thought it could be there, and there were times we were just minding our own business and got gassed. Superior firepower.... Yep. You know what would be worse than facing a rifle with pistol? Facing a rifle with a bucket of popcorn and a small coke. Protective mask and body armor.... Yep. The mask would not stop a bullet and getting shot with body armor still hurts like hell (My buddies told me... Luckily, I never took a round). Element of surprise.... Only lasts as long as you let it. Once the first few shots are off and the threat has been identified... There is no surprise anymore. It is only a big deal if you are one of the first shot at. Not really, all of them were surprised right?

#1, you can't just buy a gun off the internet (well I can, but I have an FFL) most people have to have the weapons shipped to an FFL in their home state and have them call NICS before they can transfer it to them. #2. Outlawing something does not make it go away. If that were true we would have no murder at all and drugs would not exist.
