  2. New Requirements for Travelers Between the United States and the Western Hemisphere The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future. This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States. Most Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to a lesser degree, Mexican citizens will be affected by the implementation of this requirement. . Will this requirement apply to travel between the United States and Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands? The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative will not affect travel between the United States and its territories. U.S. citizens traveling between the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and American Samoa will continue to be able to use established forms of identification to board flights and for entry. If traveling outside the United States or a U.S. territory, a passport or other secure document will be required. For example, a person may travel to and from the United States to the U.S. Virgin islands without a passport or other secure document, but under proposed regulations, a passport or other secure document would be required to re-enter the U.S. Virgin Islands from the British Virgin Islands or another country as of December 31, 2006. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html I would suggest a US Passport if you intend to Island hop in anyway.
  3. I did 2 of them this weekend, first at 4500 then 3500. I liked them alot. I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed doing them. The visual of the plane flying away while I pitched my pilot chute was pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to doing more of them.
  4. Let me ask a question that I have been dealing with, not so much anymore (I jump much more since I have my own gear) but alot when I first started. I used to lenghten the times between jumps because I liked the the feeling of fear I experienced. I found that jumping a 2nd time soon after making a jump was pretty easy. After a week of so the fear seemingly returned. I'd go 2 or 3 weeks between jumps just to get more out of that return jump. odd?
  5. skydivingmovies.com is back up
  6. amazingly that twicth in my eye has gone away.
  7. Of course he is. And he's a great guy, he gave me free access through another portal so I could use it while I am at work.
  8. It feels like more than a week. I have a nervous twitch in my right eye that won't go away.
  9. Same here. I just tug slightly on the rear risers or not, often by the time I've collapsed my slider they have inflated.
  10. Then you can jump till your broke anyway... but at least your jumping!
  11. 9:00 am, I'm in a Monday morning meeting with a co-worker. He held the door open for me as I entered the conference room. 12:00 pm, The guy starts to experience chest pains & turns as white a bedsheet. We call the paramedics and off he goes to the hospital. 4:00 pm, we get the call from the hospital, he died on the operating table. He was having a massive heart attack earlier when the paramedics had arrived. 41 years old, married with 2 little kids.
  12. yeah 50% when you order your gear and then the remaining 50% when it arrives.
  13. yup, to windy for me to even consider it. At 8:00 am it was nice but the winds did pick up quickly. I went back to Miami and jumped there at the end of the day when the winds had calmed down.
  14. The owner of the company I work for was a colonel in the us army (airborne) during the korean war. He is sure that I am nuts for being involved with sport parachuting. He does have some interesting stories to tell though.
  15. I was there briefly last year. A guy I knew from SDMiami broke his leg on the 1st load of the day. I didn't jump. I had 6 jumps back then. I'm really looking forward to jumping this year.
  16. are you looking forward to receiving your new gear yet?
  17. This thread is very helpful. (to me) It may have been discussed ad-naseum in the past but I've never seen it nor been a part of it. Thanks to all of you....for taking the time once again, continue.
  18. ...well I'll say this, I upsized my own self. I couldn't be happier. It is a little annoying that I'm mocked for flying a boat though by guys that have thousands of jumps more than me. I need to make it to work monday morning, I have a business to run & I'm 40 years old. I've seen people broken and in the process of dying. I wish I hadn't. that said, now how do I get my hands on a Mamba?
  19. That's a relief, I'd always thought otherwise.
  20. my understand is, you get them on all newly ordered Vector rigs. The M-series I ordered in October has one.
  21. I like 8 seconds. I've been told 8 seconds, my instructors said 8 seconds. What do I know.
  22. What I always smell is just before jumping is that someone shit in their pants. I don't know who it is or was but someone did. Maybe a tandem student?
