I have 4 days of nothing to do after the surgery is preformed tomorrow, I'll be there for that. Without out getting into detail waiting & worrying serves no purpose.

PM sent. Pops will drive me into Manhatten. Where and when?
-
Ok, whats the deal here? A hacky sack or a monkey fist not good enough? I never cared much for the pvc pipe on my pilot chute but a shrunken head, thats odd.
-
Yes it does. Hop and Pop maybe? I'll have to see.

is it true that Chuck Norris is going to be there?

I leave Ft Lauderdale yesterday afternoon (family emergency) and it was 86 degrees. I arrive at JFK in NYC and had been hoping to make it to either the Ranch or Crosskeys to jump during the weekend. WTF? it's still winter up here.

Traveling with your rig & security.
JeepDiver replied to joewantaharley's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I do not have a gear bag, so no, it was not in a gear bag of any kind. My rig is Gold/Royal Blue. I stowed the leg straps to the left side main ring and slung it over my shoulder. Passengers may have thought what the hell is that but nobody said a word. Clearing TSA was my only concern. I had read this thread the day before I traveled. I had my ID, USPA membership card, TSA notice about sport parachutes as carry on bagage & the cypress wallet card. The TSA screeners were most impressed with the Cypress wallet card. Everyone gathered around as if it was a training event, though it was cool, they all smiled alot in response to my goofy grin and allowed me to the boarding area. I believe my good looks & world class demeanor played a major roll in the ease in which I was able to clear the TSA screeners. ...plus having my fingers crossed didn't hurt either. My rig is a Vector3 353 size container w/ a 210 main. I had no problem fitting it in the overhead compartment of the 737 I was flying. My reserve is a pillow type handle which I had secured to the main lift web. -
I'm as Irish as I'll ever be.

I flew out this morning from Ft Lauderdale-Hollywood International with my rig slung over my shoulder. I had my cypress card & the TSA notice, was very polite, informed them I was carring a sport parachute as I handed them my cypress card before my rig it went through the x-ray machine. They did a swab on my container and let me go right on through to the boarding area. I hope JFK is just as easy when I leave NYC. -
I have 20 jumps on my new rig and have yet to have any issues arise. The last jump I made, not that I've ever experienced a hard opening but it did seem that this last jump was a bit more brisk than I've noticed in the past. What I experienced upon deployment and opening was a rapid adjustment of body position with my legstraps as I moved into a vertical body position under canopy inflation. It was enough to where I said to myself at the time, damn that hurt a little. My day continued after the jump, landing, etc. and I went on about my business. The last couple days however I've felt like I may have in some way pulled a groin muscle. I had a few pictures taken during the jump and I want to ask those that know more than I. Does the right legstrap look like it is properly positioned during freefall?

I hear that they have been. Check out the "Weekend Photo/Video Albums" but then again it may have been a demo.... but what is the "beach jump bus" all about? http://www.skydiveseb.com/gallery/feb172006-4.jpg

I sneak out of work early to get my daily fix and I race off to the DZ here in Miami. Little do I know I'm going to meet a cameraflyer from BC there in the afternoon on vacation. A really cool guy I'd never met before and he offers to jump with me and shoot a few still and video. Now I wasn't planning on this and when I escaped work I never had a chance to change clothes. So anyway, here is what I end up with, several great photos from a really cool guy and I'm wearing the black casual dress shoes I was wearing to work that day. DUH!!!! photos by JP Forest

I was bit by a brown recluse spider on my lower calf. It wasn't as bad as some of the pictures I've seen on the net but it was pretty ugly. It was the size of a dime, very black in the center. It took over a month of heal, it left a scar half the size of a dime. It took over two month to heal. It's still quite dark though, the scar which is left.

I had a homeless guy come up to me at a gas station one night at 1:00am. He saw the USPA sticker on the back of my SUV. He went on the explain that he "went in" and that was the root of his problem. Two seconds later a load blast from the PA system told him to step away from my truck and be on his way.... they were not going to tell him again to leave the area or they were going to call the police. The brief conversation I started with him showed he had no clue as to the license, rating system in place. I'd asked him whether he had a D license.... he had no idea what I was talking about.... He'd bounced and walked away from it but living with the trama had ruined his life. It was a sad life that person must lead.

I've caught alot of sharks over the years. Looks real to me. I've seen hammerheads hunting just off the beach doing figure eights, they are no joke. I'd hate to be swimming in the water and encounter one of them.
