USPA's "Championship" Demo Team?
skyjumpenfool replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Brad Pitt as the S&TA? Gotta get the girls to watch. Sorry Twardo, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. I just wanted to make the point that with a little thought and reflection, a better plan could emerge. One that does not cause problems and has a chance to raise needed revenue. USPA's "Championship" Demo Team?
skyjumpenfool replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's our money and WE should have the vote on this idea, Not the BOD! +1 on that. This is an issue that should have membership input. I plan on speaking to my Bod rep. Instead of a demo team, how about the USPA Sponsor a reality show? Call it "As the Dropzone Turns". It could feature a DZ and all the crazy characters related to most DZ's I've ever visited. Like..... -Limpy, the DZ owner who's always looking to cut costs and find new sources of revenue. - Brett, a TM who likes to “fondle the equipment”. - Skillz, that 100 jump wonder that will not hear what is said. - Candy, the video production assistant who just broke another nail. - Wrongway, the pilot…. nuff said? - Crash, the cool, hotshot, ladies man swooper. - Jillian, the pretty manifester who drinks too much and is always falling in love with a camera guy. - Shutter, the camera guy that just broke up with Jillian. - Land Mine, the DZ dog that was appropriately named. - The Twins, … not two people, just a name we use for Suzzie the TI. Then, every week you bring in new “talent” as this weeks Students. I’m serious here people!! This is a way better idea than a Demo Team. At an NPSL league meet a few years back, I was turning a load to do video for a second team. I landed, dropped my gear with my packer, then tossed on my second rig and ran for the plane that was waiting in the loading area. As I approached the steps leading to the plane I was busy fastening leg straps and checking shit. As soon as my foot hit the first step, I heard the pilot screaming at me… “Don’t you dare get on my aircraft until your fully geared up and checked”!!! I will never forget that verbal assault. …And I mean that in a good way. Sometimes we just need a reminder. Sometimes, a good swift boot in the ass! now take a guess why my instructors, once i've mentioned dizzy.com, told me to never-ever take anything serious from here - 4 1/2yrs ago!!? kangaroo-court; i like that one! tough i think it's more like a micro-world of the mickey-mouse comics i used to love when i was a kid. guess, some still are, and some still like living there.. VB... Some of us are lifelong students of the sport. We come here to learn. I've been around this sport long enough to know I've only scratched the surface of the possibilities this sport offers. I've also been around long enough to know what BS smells like!

What do you do with your gear at a boogie?
skyjumpenfool replied to jrmrangers's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Same as we do when skiing... Only buy ratted out rigs and always set it down next to some really nice, shinny new rig. -
I know of a very experienced (10K+ tandem videos) camera flyer that also uses webbed gloves to help him achieve this. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

It's not going to be long before we're able to have this conversation and all be in agreement with Spencer.... The quality is rapidly getting better on the smaller cameras. I hope my neck can last that long?? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

I'm assuming you're from DZ #1 (the DZ that said no!) in this scenario? If so, the upside here is that when the shit hits the fan, it'll probably be at the DZ that said "Ya, go ahead... it's all good!" If these guys go around "shopping" for a DZ to kill them self’s at, all you can do is make sure it isn't yours. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Sangi.... your turnaround in attitude has taken the fun out of a lot of threads here on the DZ.com. Hopefully, it will also translate into less incident reports? Heal fast. -

Dead. Dead is too old. I disagree!! After I die, throw my ass out one more time. I won't mind.... really! Hell, it could even be a naked jump without a rig. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

Devils Advocate here.... Thus you have safe, conservative DZ's, and you have edgy, wild hair DZ's. Pic your poison? Maybe all is well in dreamland? Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -

Why separate camera for stills and video?
skyjumpenfool replied to jephprospect's topic in Photography and Video
... I'd agree with this! In fact, we're including "DLSR Video" into our Digital Photography course curriculum. I would, however, venture to guess this will take a few more years to be practicle for skydiver use. -

Wing’s has some great specials!! Check their website. I bought my wings for half of what any other rig would have cost. I didn’t need all the extras. I ordered just a good, reliable, comfortable rig. They were great to work with. And, they really made me feel like they valued my business. The bottom line is that I absolutely love my new container. Why separate camera for stills and video?
skyjumpenfool replied to jephprospect's topic in Photography and Video
.....And, capturing stills from video also results in really average pics. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
Yep!! I picked up a CX-100 for $150.00 like new in the box on E-bay six months ago. I have it in my bag as a spare. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."

It use to bother my wife that I jump. Then she watched a couple friends/relatives die from cancer. Now she says... "There are worse ways to die than hitting the ground at 200mph!" Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky." -
I bought my Pegasus in 81 as well. Always opened great, flew predictable, landed soft, etc. We are using old f-111's as CRW canopies. I'd be interested in your rig, however as stated above, I'd probly not be willing to spend over $100. But, PM me and lets talk. Birdshit & Fools Productions "Son, only two things fall from the sky."
