  1. As Amazon was so kind to point out, there is "working" and then their is being productive. I'm still waiting for the president to come up with a plan for the debt since he and harry reid plan to shelf and veto the republican plans. It would be nice if harry actually came up with a plan that wasn't an accounting gimmick. I know lots of people who know how to look busy too. If all the president wants to do is play the blame game, point fingers, and start a class war with childish addresses to the public, maybe we are just better off if he plays golf this weekend. 2. He Surpassed Bush's 8 year total in less than 17 months. http://dailycaller.com/2010/06/21/white-house-says-obamas-golf-outings-do-us-all-good/ I don't know, maybe long enough to come up with a plan for the debt and put it on paper? Or is he going to just campaign for 4 years? Is the dempcratic party becoming the new party of "No"? Just sit back and shoot down anything the house comes up with? If you knew me, you wouldn't ask that question. I would ask you the same, but that would be just getting personal. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 3. Part 2 to the question is: "If he left town for the weekend, do you think the country would be better off?" "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  4. Turbo Tax Tim Gietner has already said that he found a loop hole in the constitution that will allow him to just continue to make payments on the debt. It doesn't matter if they vote to raise the debt ceiling or not. After Lybia, obama has shown that he doesn't care about the law, he will do what he wants. Why do you think the debt ceiling would be any diffrent? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 6. Dude, you are barking up a tall tree to those on this board who vehemently oppose unions. They are convinced that union people are lazy, uneducated commies not worth what they are paid. They are convinced that unions are the downfall of failing companies. Pick any woe in society and they contribute the problem to unions. I've work for a good number of years as a union welder in a factory. Every person in that plant worked for the dollars they earned. Being lazy didn't cut it. If you didn't do your job has described, you were gone. The union would not back a person who refused to do his/her job. Hussmann fought the union for years, until they realized that the union was on both sides. Without the company, the employee did not have a job. Without the employee, the company did not produce a product. Sadly for more than 1000 employees (myself included) when Ingersoll Rand (they pay no taxes to the U.S. government) bought out Hussmann they lost their jobs. Jobs were sent to Mexico and China. There was nothing that the union could do to stop the exportation of American jobs. Hussmann was doing over 1 billion dollars in sales, so it had nothing to do with keeping the company from failing. Hussmann is the largest commercial refrigeration company in the world. They operate on a global scale. It was the employees and the union that made them such. It was the greed that is Ingersoll Rand that put so many out of a job. How American of them. Guys like Lawrocket, Marc Rush, and others here will never understand the need for unions. I don't think you are getting the whole picture. The private sector unions are doing what they are supposed to do. Its the public sector unions that are in an unholy alliance with the politicians. In the private sector, if pay and benefits out do what the company can support, the company goes under. There is an incentive to keep the budget balanced. In the public sector, the union will back what ever candidate will give them the biggest pay raise. Screw the tax payer. Most people only vote by name recognition anyway. Just get the name out there. Its really easy to regulate public sector jobs. Unions are not needed. How much did public sector unions donate to Obama's campaign again? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 7. Sure they do. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2011/06/30/hln-wins-total-day-cable-news-ratings-for-wednesday-june-29-2011/97034/ I'm pretty sure those people were just flipping through channels when the ratings were taken... As opposed to the FAUX News viewrs sitting there glued to the screen in blank stare AWE who will not watch anything else cause all the rest of the stations are commies who use big words U funni....But U fail... 9. After you have replaced that $1.99 one 4 times because it keeps breaking, then you would have been better off just supporting your country in the first place. In many cases, the $1.99 item is the only choice. All the $6 items made in the U.S. are no longer there because they went out of business. Here is one for you. Go to some of your local stores and try to find some pool toys that say "made in the USA" on them. They don't exist anymore. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 10. It seems to me you have no problem having the same citizens spend money on other people's health care and social services, but when it comes time to require for the same people to spend the money on their own well-being, and everyone becomes "fucking-assholes" as you so eloquently put it. What is the problem with "...honest working people" to honestly take care of themselves? Cool... the honest working people work harder for their TRICKLE crom the corporate masters.......mmmmmm TRICKLE Obviously you don't work for a rich person. How well does that homeless employer pay? 11. ... then you don't know how to spell. Do you have to use such a racist tone when you say that? "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  12. ..... you are a racist. There, I've said it. Their is obvious racial overtones in your comments. Why you hatin'? http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_212372768.shtml "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 13. Agreed. You seriously don't know? Unions. Same reason we can't get rid of bad teachers in schools. Even though some people are able to get degrees in law enforcement and make through a police academy, it doesn't mean they have the temperament or the ability to handle some stressful situations. Some cops really need to just find another line of work. However, they literally have to kill the wrong person to be forced out of their job. Depending on the lawyer the union hires, sometimes that isn't even enough.... "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 14. A quick google search shows that 30 million barrels will only supply the U.S. for a day and a half. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/ene_oil_con-energy-oil-consumption "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 15. Aren't these the strategic reserves for national security? What's the emergency? Obama's poll ratings? And instead of releasing oil from the strategic reserves, that will have to be replaced, why don't we just drill? http://washingtonexaminer.com/politics/2011/06/obama-release-oil-petroleum-reserve "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 16. Who are you wanting to design this economy based on green energy ? the politicians ? or free enterprise. Both. in the mid 80's the government cut subsidies for private industry development for solar energy in favor of subsidies for the petroleum industry and look where that's gotten us. Many of those AMERICAN companies moved overseas to other countries such as Germany. Now Germany is a world leader in green energy development. If we continue this habit we'll be destined to continue to rely on foreign sources for our energy. The "problem" with solar in our society is that the source is free and hitting everyone every day. Subsidies are a huge part of the problem. The Ultra rich are able to use them to escape taxes. GE, which made $14billion last year didn't pay a single dime in taxes. Why? Subsidies and tax breaks for "green energy". While Bush may have given tax breaks and subsidies to big oil, Obama is giving it to the other side. And here is another one for you. Do you think Exxon isn't taking advantage of the "green energy" tax breaks? They are abusing it just like everyone else. As I said in my last post. If you raise taxes, the rich will find away around it and the class you are trying to help will foot the bill. Subsidies are also a huge part of the problem. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  17. Do you really think that the super rich will pay $.01 more in taxes if you increase them? To borrow a phrase, you are GOAT FUCK STUPID if you think they will. They will have an army of lawyers and lobbyist that make sure there are enough loop holes to escape it all. Then who is stuck picking up the increase? The rest of the country that you are trying to help. Before we look at increasing taxes, I think a better idea is to fix the tax code. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. 18. I guess the politically incorrect answer would be that they like to feel something big pounding against their ass...... More to the point though, it's like minded people gathering around a common interest. Who cares really? Pretty much any difference you can find in people, they will separate into that group and find something to do as a common interest. Weather its men, women, black, white, Hispanic, green, tall, short, straight, or gay you will find people will generally try to form a group of others just like them and then go find a common interest. They are just trying to find a comfort zone to meet other people. Nothing wrong with it as long as they don't hide from the rest of the world in their little group. When people do, that's what leads to fear, bigotry and hate. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." 19. ....... Says someone on the outside trying to judge what's going on on the inside. Let me help you out by showing you a statement that pretty much reflects what's going on in the tea party: That's right. It's your post number 11 from this thread. As I said earlier, the governmnet is broken. The new dynamic is insiders Vs. Outsiders. The status quo can't fix government because of what they have turned into. If you remove your political blinders and erase agenda's you can see that the left and the right actually want the same thing. But people are demonizing each other with hot button topics like abortion, health care, religion, and conspiracy theories. Both sides have to give a little, but neither are willing to bend on their pet projects. The false arguments you hear are people protecting their special interests. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  20. Did you read the whole article or did you just cut and paste the headlines? From your own source: His Argument is truthful because of the selective numbers he uses. The status quo keeps growing the debt. If you dig further you realize that the reason the Ryan plan grows the debt for a while is because it doesn't throw grandma from a cliff. It keeps the governments promise to those age 55 and older. As I said before. It's a start. no one else even has a plan. All they do is attack people that do because they have special interests to protect. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  21. I can only assume you are talking about the Paul Ryan Budget cut. If you only catch the 10 second sound bites that play on just about any news channel, it would seem that what you described is what is going on. Like I said earlier, each side unwilling to bend in the slightest to their special interests makes them demonize any changes to their pet projects. Paul Ryan's plan cuts pretty much across the board. Everyone with their hand in a pocket is crying about it. Should it be passed as written? I don't know, but I think it is a good start. Special interests will probably spend a lot of money to shut it down. I would not expect to see anyone say anything good about it. Either way, as I have said a number of times, we won't be able to bring industry back to America until we balance the budget and get government spending down to bring taxes down so the cost of doing business in America can compete with the BRIC countries. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  22. The entry of the clowns doesn't usually fix anything. Your reply is both ignorant and naive. Of course I would expect nothing less from someone who can only parrot the left wing talking point of "all tea party members or anyone else on the right is an idiot." When you have an original thought, let me know. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." Life, the Universe, and Everything
  23. They are the same. They are both "insiders". The new way we will soon start gauging our politicians is are they insiders or outsiders. Insiders have political interests that they need to protect, even if they are bad for the country. If a problem provides an advantage to one of his lobbyists is causing huge problems for the rest of the country, rather than get rid of the problem, he will come up with a half baked scheme that they think will fix it while keeping the advantage for his lobbyist, but usually winds up fucking up the country even more. The outsider will just remove the problem. Democrats and republicans both have special interests groups that they have to pander too. The problem is to fix the country cuts have to come from both sides. Democrats say republicans want to push grandma from a cliff. Republicans say democrats want to surrender our country and give away everything. Mean while nothing is getting fixed because no one wants to bend and give up that special interest money. Outsiders just want to fix the problem. Enter the Tea party. Done with my rant. "There is an art, it says, or, rather, a knack to flying.
