Surely a typo? Not RW, 4-way, more 4-way, a bit more 4-way, obsessive-compulsive 4-way etc etc? LOL ... Bill, one of the most obsessed 4-way dorks in this forum, is encouraging new jumpers to freefly

Thanks guys - I talked to Mel last night

Check out the NSL site at www.skyleague.com, watch some videos and read about the top athletes who inspire thousands of weekend warriors. You may also want to check the most fashionable skydiving website www.teamelan4way.com

Does anyone know how to get hold of Mel at http://www.skyworksrigging.com/? He's out of office and his answering machine says that he's teaching a rigging class somewhere. Please PM me if you know Mel's cell phone # or e-mail. Thanks Anton

The NSL site posted an article about upcoming IPC meeting in Italy. Amongst several topics, they are planning to discuss the "Videographers position on the team". I am curious what competitors (both slot and camera flyers) think about this. Any predictions?

You know what, I think he has a valid point. The jump numbers mean a lot but there are several other factors that add up to experience. Lets face it, slamming the base like that is a common mistake for a newbie, not for someone who has over a 1000 dives. In fact, after watching the initial fragment of the video (up to the point of impact), I had an impression that most people on that dive were under 200 jumps. The term combat RW was already mentioned here and that exactly what I sought too. My comments are not directed at you or a person who caused a collision. The point is that quick progression to certain jump numbers (especially when most of these jumps are in the same discipline) does not necessarily make you experienced skydiver. Approaching the base on a belly load requires the skills that you don’t normally practice on freefly jumps. In this case, your 1000+ experience is relative.

Oh that video is awesome. Our freefly team borrowed a DVD from me several month ago and they won a medal at Nationals.

Oh, don't listen to them freeflyers ... they don't even know how to track

Only 5 minutes to talk about skydiving?!?

That's exactly what I would do too. -

Oh Amsterdam .... my second favorite city on this planet

Yup ... I just did not feel like wasting time trying to convert you into pathetic liberal. It wouldn't work no matter how hard I tried You make a lot of assumptions. How do you know I was offended?

Vedeos of my first 4-ways look like full-contact three-dimentional combat RW

Well, you definitely have some strong opinions that I respect and will not argue with (simply because I don't see a point). My point is, what does it have to do with Litvinenko's poisoning?
-
Trent, with all due respect, how come you already know the answer before the investigation is completed? Not because I am Russian, I am just curious what in a God's sake is the evidence behind your statement?

Really depends on what your team expects to achieve next season. Do you guys plan to train seriously (tunnel, coaching, meets ect.) or just to have fun making some quality 4-ways on the regular or semi-regular basis? As a tail did you train on AA or AAA plan? If you only have experience as a tail on Intermediate pool, stepping in a new slot will definitely slow down you and the whole team. As an alternate you are not going to make a lot of team jumps (even as a tail), so there is a chance that the team will soon progress to a new level and you will become the slowest person. Discuss these issues openly with your teammates and make sure everyone understands the potential drawbacks. In addition, ask the team if they expect you to attend the meets and tunnel camps. Sitting on the ground when your team trains or competes could be frustrating. Stay close to them, attend the team meetings and try to help them on the ground whenever it is possible (even if you are limping on crutches). And last but not the least, visualize hard.

Why sadly? It was a lot of fun not to mention that I optimized the emergency procedures.

If you were out of the sport for a while....
AMax replied to skyejumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Very helpful post, especially considering all you experience and years in sport Edit to add: skyejumper, I have not been away for longer than a month (bad weather during a winter) and getting back was never a problem. Obviously, you are considering a much longer break. I wouldn't worry about getting back until you are ready to do so, but I would definitely keep the gear. -
I agree on award ceremony. Last year's Perris was my first 4-way competition at National level and one of the greatest highlights of the meet was watching the medal contenders go for their last rounds together (although there were a few complains that the entire schedule was delayed for a few hours because the meet management re-scheduled the loads) and receive the awards. Somehow this year was not as exciting. In fact I felt like the whole 4-way crowd got scattered right after the meet was over. As far as loads, I can only speak for our plane. We were the last team out and we (as well as the other teams on our plane) never had problems getting back, including people on heavily loaded VXses.
