  1. May I politely suggest that you watch your language? there was nothing offensive in my post (and all the previous posts). You claim that you are pushing 16+ ... well what's wrong with wanting to see the vid? I am sure there are other people who will be interested to find out if you are telling the truth (and I honestly hope so) or just bullshitting ...
  2. Did you mean 16+ on real 10-round draw? WOW! Can we see the video?
  3. Lets see ... B-18-N-12 22-11-C M-13-E-21 8-1-20 3-2-10 F-K-6-19 indeed, nothing but fast ...
  4. LOL ... even guys like you learn something new on this forum
  5. Fyodor already posted the news in other thread - here is a vid http://www.plusweb.ru/42_6M.divx
  6. if you have any doubts about identifying and handling a malfunction - talk to your AFF instructor.
  7. Babykillers Seriously, there will be around 80 4-way teams (~80 last year) registering for one event, so you don't want to plan to be there last minute. Keep in mind that you will have to fill the waivers at the DZ (in my little experience Eloy is pretty quick with that) and check the gear. Plus you will probably want to make a couple of practice jumps to warm up and become familiar with a landing area and start working on a draw the night before. With that said, if 4-way starts on Sunday, getting there on Friday night or Saturday morning (the latest) gives you a plenty of time to take care of everything without a rush. On-line registration saves some time if you have the team name and individual info entered in advance, but you will still have to show up on site (last year in Perris was like that) Hope to see you there.
  8. Yup Fire definitely added a lot of excitement to last years Nationals and a World Cup winning two jump-offs. Watching them going on round 11 with GK's was one of my most remarkable experiences from 2005 nats.
  9. You keep forgetting the Cats .... meow Remember, they challenged Fire in Eloy (loosing the silver on jump-off). Despite a serious injury of a teammate, they have been training pretty hard and have a lot of potential. Agree on the rest. P.S. ... What do I know anyway?
  10. To take a scientific approach one needs to establish a correlation (or lack of correlation) between the point average, average temperature at the home DZ during a training season and .... oh .... the sizes ... the first two datasets are very eazy to get - thanks to T1, T2 and numerous weather sites. I am not sure about the sizes though .... And by the way, should cameraman be included?
  11. Mass defiance does not really fit into this model
  12. I am glad we have something in common Edit to add: Isn't it funny that literally every discussion on this forum quickly evolves into discussion about good-looking women? The topic was who is going to win a world meet
  13. oh ... what a shame ... how could I forget Edit to add: I too hope they are going - Fyodor must know by now ...
  14. this forum is too americanized Go Black Cats and Evolution Pro!!!

It is a center point bust. I believe the old block 12 (zipper-star) was eventually removed from the pool and replaced with bundy-bundy because of continuous issues with the center point busts. Usually the exact degree of rotation is not strictly enforced (for example you see a lot of 270's instead of 360 as defined in a pool ... and 180's instead of 270's) but the obvious lack of rotation will/should result in a penalty. P.S. I am surprised that Ron still has not replied to this post, he must be away from his computer.
  21. Oh girl, I always thought of you as a tough one ... and these vacuum cleaners are very dangerous ...
  22. He was doing his job and he was probably trying to do his best. Stick a camera on your head and try to be perfect on EVERY round. Even top flyers make mistakes, cameraman included. What you saw on this video is not a unique mistake. I recall several teams (from intermediate to open) that lost gold medals because of NJ's on the hill.
  23. Well, I will reply because you don't seem to understand a point that was brought up by very experienced people in response to your posts (of course I am not counting myself as experienced). Gear-related accidents happen and sometimes they happen without the obvious reason. Yes, you can minimize the chances of such accidents by maintaining your gear in a good shape, but you can NOT completely eliminate them. - it's hard for us to evaluate the conditions of the lineset. I doubt that you have enough skills to do so and we have not yet heard from the person who jumped that canopy. All we know is your assumption that the lineset was not airworthy and this assumption is based on second hand information. I am afraid you are making a mistake but trying to make a point that is not supported by reliable information and/or experience. So he made 2 jumps on a canopy that presumably had a bad lineset? Why? Isn’t it obvious that inspecting a newly purchased used gear it a good idea? We still d not know whether such inspection was performed. Experienced people also experience malfunctions and sometimes die. An ability of exercising a good judgment is a part of being experienced. What we know from your posts is that the guy either did not inspect a canopy before using it or disregarded the fact that the canopy was not in a good shape. In addition (and pardon me for being blunt) I saw his break-off and tracking. Perhaps your definition of “experienced” is different from mine. Another experienced guy … Well, even the most experienced packer cannot guarantee that his pack job will never malfunction. In fact, you did. This thread was commented by people who have made from 1000 to 6300 jumps. Most of these people are instructors and riggers. Perhaps you should go back, read what they posted and try to learn from their comments.
  24. Asking questions is normal and a tandem is a very common way to make a first jump in US. It is still "extreme" because you go through the whole skydiving experience that includes a freefall and a canopy ride but it is "safer" for you as a first time jumper because you have less responsibilities (such as deploying a parachute, handling emergency procedures and landing) and are attached to experienced instructor whose job is to bring you to the ground as safe as possible. Tandem accidents happen, but with very low probability. Visiting a dropzone where you consider to make a jump, watching people getting geared up, boarding the plane and landing will help you to become little more familiar with the whole procedure.
  25. You will be amazed how much you can see even without a flash light. I have only made 8 night jumps, but I never needed to use an extra light to check the canopy when I looked up after opening - even the lines could be seen clearly!
