  1. Thanks Dan, I hope my neck survives the next few openings
  2. Folks, I have a question about Cobalt openings. I just got my standard mode Cobalt relined after putting about 500 jumps on the original spectra lineset (the canopy was relined after total ~ 700 jumps). Before reline, the openings were always smooth but not always on heading. Now, with the new lines the wing flies great and always opens on heading however the openings became much faster. In fact, I got slammed last weekend The person who changed the lineset is a very experienced and respected rigger, recommended by Atair, so I have no doubt that he did a good job. So the question is how do I make it open slower? The first thing that comes to my mind is a pilot chute. I am using a 28 inch PC since Sunpath recommends this size for their Javelins. I know that Atair recommends smaller PCs for Cobalts however I have never had any problems with openings with the larger PC on the same canopy before re-lining it! Any input will be appreciated. Thanks!
  3. The cash prize fund is pretty remarkable. Looks like it will be another nice show. Are you planning to post the meet videos on-line?
  4. You know what, How can I expect you to respect the others in the air if you show absolutely no respect to skydivers in this forum. You should be ashamed, brother.
  5. Why cannot you stick to hop'n'pops if you are so dedicated to train as a swooper? Less expensive, more loads per day and less distruction from your major goal. The degree of turn is a separate issue (and I agree that banning 270 for full altitude jumps will not completely solve the problem of collisions) but saying that this rule harms swooping as a discipline is nonsense.
  6. Look at the numbers. In North America, there was 1 NON performance fatal accident since 2004 (Eloy this year). The rest involved a high performance approach.
  7. That won't fix the problem by it's self. Jumpers must get over the ego that they should get to swoop on every jump. They need to take some responsibility for being aware of their surroundings both in freefall and under canopy. I totally agree that egos play a major role in this problem. However, I don't believe that you can effectively control the egos because skydivers are in general an ego-driven group of people.
  8. IMHO the problem will not be solved until the HP and regular landing areas are physically separated on every dropzone. Most of the recent collisions involved a skydiver performing a 270 (or more) and running into a lover person.
  9. Kurt, You are doing an awesome job with NSL site! Cannot wait for a new batch of videos. Oh wait, my hard drive is almost full The scores are impressive. Nice come back for Fastrax.
  10. You made a lot of assumptions about the person you have never met. What Natasha won for is ALL our sport is all about. What you seem to fail to understand, is that Natasha’s accomplishments would not be possible if she did not have that talent and fantastic drive. Apart from that Natasha is a cool, cheerful and easy-going person. She is a queen of 4-way and a world champion who set the new standards and inspired many. She is skydiver of the year.
  11. still arguing Personally, I think skydiving CAN be compared to a relationship with a woman. Demanding, expensive, time consuming, INSPIRING, sometimes frustrating, it can influence you life in a very positive way but can also seriously damage it. To me skydiving is almost like being in love. If you say you are not willing to make a sacrifice, perhaps and are not in love. The best way to win the argument with Douva is to get out and make some skydives. Perhaps, after making a few hundred jumps you will realize that you knew almost nothing about skydiving when you had 4.
  12. LOL ... perhaps you should try bowling
  13. You know, Douva has a point. If skydiving means so much to you, quit your job, cash the retirement money, max out the credit cards, move to dz and skydive (and you will not be the first person to make a move like that). You will get a lot of supporting comments here but they will not solve the problem. Its a matter of simple difference between talking the talk and walking the walk.
  14. As a Javelin owner I am not happy about potential complications with RSL (I don't use one). However, an idea to refuse packing Javelins in response to new Sunpath service bulletin is simply ridiculous. Fortunately, it is highly unlikely that this idea will be supported by majority of riggers in US ... LOL
  15. This is ridiculous Do you really believe in what you just said?
  16. lol ... Actually, I was telling him that everything YOU say is wrong Seriously, Tom is a fantastic person, but for someone who has 40 skydives, I would not recommend trying to get on Tom's organized loads (unless it is a 2-way with Tom). Making a bunch of 2-ways with experienced person is a much better way to improve your skills. In addition, I strongly recommend getting some tunnel time.
  17. I am sure we will see them on the podium
  18. Second place is the first loser (c) Jerome David
  19. Is that a habit you learned on big-ways?
  20. After watching this interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glW9qnFQvGcI don't think I will ever prefer Vigil to Cypress. "It worked the way it was designed" is a poor argument in skydiving business
  21. ... or downloading the new videos from Kurt's site that helps them to survive the bad weather
