  1. I suppose you only count the "recent" history because the history of 60-80's is to painful to remember ? Nice game though ... thanks God we had Nabokov
  2. would be interesting to compare two different distributions: lets say 100-500 jumps and 500 or more ...
  3. Sh*t that's everyone I know! (Are there loads out there where this doesn't occur? What do you do on the way to altitude without your invisible grips???) Emma, you perfectly fit into this description ... just trying to imagine you and your teammates going for a ride to altitude with mean expression on your faces ... poor fun jumpers should be terrified ... hehe i love this thread

  11. Loosing friends always hurts. If you stick around for a few more years, there is a good chance that you will eventually loose a friend or someone you know well ... this is unfortunate reality of skydiving ... As Kallend said, people react differently. We went up 15 minutes after getting the news that our friend went in and, at least in my opinion, there was nothing disrespectful in this decision. We simply wanted to have a moment with him in the air. We kept jumping after another friend got seriously injured. When another friend went in we stopped ... it was too painful ... Don't judge people and the dropzone. When you graduate and get your A license, get on that sunset load, open a little higher, fly towards the sun, think about your friend and shout his name out loud. It works ...
  12. Look at this very accomplished skydivers - they all had mentors. http://skyleague.com/pages/profiles/ Its always good to have mentors even if you don't want to progress fast and become a competitor. A good mentor will help you to become a safer and better skydiver. Not wanting to jump by yourself is also normal. New people like you often need company for some additional encouragement and emotional support. Spaceland is a fantastic place with lots of great skydivers, finding a good mentor there should not be a problem.
  13. stowing toggles right after landing does several things: 1) less twists on break lines 2) reduces the chances of packing with one or two toggles unstowed ... especially if you jump a lot and/or use a packer 3) reduces the chances of packing with a knoted/wrapped toggle. just turn 180 after landing to face incoming jumpers ...
