  1. South Park - Bigger, Longer and Uncut. "You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity. " dudeist skydiver #42
  2. I thought about the original poster. I see it was not about him now. dudeist skydiver #42
  3. Good lord. Where are you working and how do you do that skydiving? 1000 jumps is a good year for most in the states at about 30-40 per jump. If it sounds to good to be true................. He said he is working as a US govt contractor in Iraq. I guess it could be anywhere between 4k and 15k $ monthly. Also I would guess that if you are single and you are staying inside some of the camps, you can save a lot of money if you`re up to it. IMO, it is achievable. dudeist skydiver #42
  4. Yup, I understood completely. Big DZs and lots of tandems and they all just got to go home with DVD in their hands. It`s sure fast and automatic. After I watched PA video on timeline markers and empty events, it seems to me that I could get something like I already do almost automatic with slight manual adjustments afterwards. P.S. I could not install PA from "Tandem videos made easy" even for a trial... And my "slow transitions" problem is CPU related dudeist skydiver #42
  5. Quick find on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WA5ACVlaJqY Disregard short freefall, it was a C-172. Preflight interview and proposal part are cut out. But you could get the picture. There are 3 slow-mos in freefall and the same three at the end video. Music are to some extent in sync with changes in the video. OTOH, I just watched one of the Production Assistant training videos and it seems to me that I could do semi-automated slow-mo parts. dudeist skydiver #42
  6. Is this "industry standard" over there for editing tandem vids? I ask because it has nothing "special" if you can understand what i`m trying to say. It`s just clips copied from camera, some have speech audio, the others have music audio. No sync to the music, entry and exit animations are pre-rendered. Just slow-mo of exit. Plain vanilla. I could do this type of editing work in less than 2 minutes. And the rest is up to the computer speed. I guess that if you have large number of tandems, than that`s the norm... Still, I`m interested can a Production Assistant be used to automatize more custom video edit? Like the one that we currently do: 1. normal exit 2. slow-mo exit 3. freefall continued 4. slow-mo of something nice in freefall 5. freefall continued and deployment 6. slow-mo of deployment 7. whole freefall again in normal speed. Transitions are synchronized with music. Can it automate to do something like this? Or just close? dudeist skydiver #42
  7. But then he could not get the jump numbers that he wants. I mean, if he is packing whole day, earning money, when is he going to jump? My other buddy did couple of trips from here to ex. Cal City DZ, worked there as a packer... Nice cash, but so few jumps. dudeist skydiver #42
  8. That would kinda kill the plan! It would not. You can do packing/rigging and video while you pile up jumps for AFF and tandem rating. Just get coach as soon as you can. Your plan is to have lots of cash to start with anyway, isn`t it? dudeist skydiver #42
  9. I don`t jump there anymore except when they call me to do some video work for them. Still, It would be nice to meet and jump somewhere... Vrsar? Anyway, good luck dude!
  10. If you`re going to stay in US and at all-year open DZ than it could be possible. If you`re coming back to Balkans after you get your ratings - no. Apart from that, for most of the ratings you need certain amount of "time in sport" so that might be an issue. As I was interested in similar life path and I talked to a friend of mine who went to the US from here to do skydiving job. He got his AFFI and TI ratings, he packed, worked hard, got his neck fu*ked up, and was struggling altogether. Not to mention immigration papers and associated problems... He was lucky, got married with US girl (real marriage
  11. Good evening you all. [rant] I was contemplating of all the reasons that cause that this jumping season suck bigtime. There were: - bad weather, - aircraft problems, - volcanos, - more bad weather, - Google. The last one was the one when you ask yourself WTF is next?!!!? Last two weekends we were grounded for half of the time because they were doing photos for Google Earth/Maps. Fck U Google! Most of us have max 52 jumpable weekends in year and if you write off the ones that have bad weather there is so little left for you to screw up. Click your cameras on workdays damit! 12. When does filming begin?? I see you filled out the blanks In the correct way. It could be "generation gap" love story. With lots of skydiving in between (some nude jumps of course made by __________________). Couple of fistfights in the middle. And it got to have sad ending. If you think of it, it could be a blockbuster. dudeist skydiver #42
  13. +1 on that. In order to succeed the movie has to have some famous actor(s), story that most of the wuffos can relate, and hype. I very much like the trailer though, but most of the people can`t see the difference between beginner belly jump and champion VRW. If the movie would be teenage romantic comedy that is happening at the DZ between Megan Fox and _________, that would be different story. dudeist skydiver #42
  14. Today, I jumped with a guy who did not jump for 8 months. Today, he did his first jump of the season, downsized 130sqft, change canopy planform, wore small format camera and broke an airplane step. All on single first jump. But he had license and "enough" jumps. All went well (except the step). I was explaining to him why it was all dangerous, but he just did not listen... I even felt stupid for talking to him, b/c after the jump, everybody were looking at me pointing finger at me for being such a smart ass. I decided to keep quiet from now on... No point in talking anymore... dz.com has negative influence on me... dudeist skydiver #42
  15. I would really like to see/read what "gopro+50jumps" stories DSE gathered so far... dudeist skydiver #42
  16. Yah, Happy Birthday! dudeist skydiver #42
  17. It was canvas fabric door that, like yours, did not last very long. This plane is usually for students and hop-n-pops, but we had tandems that just HAD to be done... Shooting tandem video when exit is at 8-9000ft is not an easy job... dudeist skydiver #42
  18. Sore throat here too. Did couple of jumps yesterday out of no-door c-172 from 9000ft. Cold. Worst thing yesterday was my reserve pin got dislodged and reserve PC popped out. Luckily, pilot saw PC coming out so it all ended well. But we had to get down... dudeist skydiver #42
  19. Oh sorry my greatness.... I didn`t realize that you are noble Senior SoFPiDaRF instructor... Sorry...
  20. Well, that`s exactly what I was talking about, Suck it up and save money, buy something and then jump whatever he wants. And you jump to conclusion that he gets "free" jumps. There is no such thing as free lunch. He will work it out one way or another. Been there, done that. I did my first 300+ jumps in similar arrangement, when I finally bought my first chute and started jumping what I really wanted, I got kicked out of my DZ. This part of the world has it`s own quirks that most of you people from the "west" don`t understand. Imagine that somebody says to you that you are going to do only, and only, CRW jumps (no pun intended). I bet you would get tired of it pretty fast... But we hijacked the thread... He is going to have hard time finding canopy and adequate coach. Transitional canopies in 190 sqft range and CP coaching here are almost non-existant. dudeist skydiver #42
  21. No, it is really "tough luck" (except if you really like to jump classic accuracy). You see, his DZ only endorses that discipline. So when he is done with first 15-20 jumps they shift him from student type canopies (Navs, Mantas and Solos) to some big accuracy canopy like Parafoil. In this case it`s even worse, because he gets to jump EX-YU copy of Parafoil which has at least 1000 jumps (it`s F-111). He then, must get into accuracy team and must jump only that kind of jumps, weather he likes it or not. If he likes it - good, but if he want to jump some other type of jumps... Tough luck... Then he usually saves some money and buy some cheap pd-9cell with kazillion of jumps that can`t flare for sh*t and jumps it for some time. Then he realizes that this is not working, piles up more cash, buys Sabre or even Stiletto in 135 range. And if he`s lucky he survives enough jumps to learn how to fly it. If he is not so lucky, he gets broken. Canopy coaching in this country and surrounding ones, except In Hungary, is NON-EXISTANT. There is NOBODY here that can teach you anything about flying modern (HP) canopies. One could say that he should go to some other DZ for CP coaching, but that would require money and he does not have that much in the first place. So, he is stuck with accuracy tuffet,hop-and-pops, and "sink in" approaches. Still, if you like to jump accuracy you are on the easy street dudeist skydiver #42
  22. Care to explain why? dudeist skydiver #42
  23. Tough luck dude. Find a good job, save money, buy canopy and jump whatever discipline you want. Jumping accuracy just because you "have to" sucks. * Stay away from Stiletto even after 150 jumps no matter what anyone tells you. dudeist skydiver #42
  24. It was even worse, they closed sky in strips, going from north to south. DZ that I jump now was 20km inside no-fly zone. We figured to go more south to another DZ where flying was still allowed, but until we could get there, they would close that area also. And they completely reopened sky just as weekend was over... It is even better that all of that was mostly precaution, there was no real danger, just: "Look! The other countries are doing it, so must we..." This jumping season, for now, is completely and utterly disastrous... And, I`m learning how not to worry about it. dudeist skydiver #42
  25. Ours airspace got closed at Saturday morning and reopened again at 5 P.M. Sunday afternoon Not to mention the weekend weather was super-excellent... Clear blue skies... 99% of ash went north of us over Hungary. Talk about bad luck. dudeist skydiver #42
