Are you sure it was because of the faulty design and applies on every cutter? Or it was just that particular specimen had some error in manufacture? dudeist skydiver #42

Variety of aircraft out there
mircan replied to Master_Yoda's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not necessarily. At least not here. OP mentioned tailgate, and one of the best jumps for me are the tailgate exits from MI-8. Our army leases Mi-8/Mi-17 for about 1000euros/hour (all included). So if you can find 19 people to jump with that would be ~25Euros for jump ticket. The same as regular ticket (here). So making a helicopter boogie HERE would not be such a great deal. -
Any pictures of yourself while working ???

Europe.... so tune up your passport In South/East parts of it you can regularly find - AN-2 On larger DZs - L-410 Turbolet - Mi-8/Mi-17 Also somewhere around here: - Wilga And one local: - Utva-66 It could take 2x50lbs bombs 3 mins that's a jumpship i want at a dz near me Actually that would be more like ~1000ft/min so no 3mins to 15k. Turbo Finist is almost the copy of Porter Pilatus, but b/c it is being built in eastern Europe, it`s much, much cheaper. At least it was... dudeist skydiver #42 -
Gravity Gear shop and other crapy shops?
mircan replied to Lok's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Not true! Re read her post. The units were already sold before the OP contacted her. I`ll repeat. She says that. But it does not matter. Even if it were sold, then she should pull the ad from dz.com, so not to encourage further inquiries. This way it looks like: If I don`t get paid, I`m going to have another 50 guys asking for it anyway. So it`s win/win for the seller. Then it also looks like that when one guy did ask, but was too much of a hassle to do business, she sent him away. How did Bonnie not provide customer service? There is no service to provide since the units were sold BEFORE the OP contacted her OK, let`s change the term. Not customer service, just attitude. From those emails, you can see that he is asking in very polite way to get any kind of payment info. Seller just blew him off. Listen, I don`t know this seller, nor do I do business with her shop. I was not bashing her. It was very strange for me that all of you jumped defending her and bashing the guy who (just in IMO) had some reason to be pissed. If it was me, I would not start the bashing thread, as I already did not when I was in similar situation (and it cost me $ in the end). I just elected to do business somewhere else. Dave (wrongly) implied that I think there is some "conspiracy", but CSpence hit it on the head with "it`s too complicated for me to go and take your money". I thought that every earned $ count... It seems to me that none of you had any problems and that is OK. But that does not mean that nobody has. dudeist skydiver #42 -
Gravity Gear shop and other crapy shops?
mircan replied to Lok's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You said what I said. For you (sometimes / usually) It`s pain in the ass to do business with people from overseas and then you just do not do it. But please just write "US customers only" like some of sellers do. Seems like you have the luxury to do business like that - big local market. But what If I told you that if our first deal goes OK, I`m going to order couple of thousand $$$ of your products because I`m dealer in this part of the world? And because you are good to do business with, I`m going to buy stuff from you on regular basis. And all you have to do is send me a bank account number and pro-forma invoice so I can make payment. No need for leaving the house, even not leaving your desk. Just fckn e-mail. And you just don`t do it? dudeist skydiver #42 -
Gravity Gear shop and other crapy shops?
mircan replied to Lok's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes. That`s what she said. If she was waiting for the transfer that means that she SOLD IT already. I don`t see how this is relevant to my post... I guess you are a bigger genius than me and didn`t want to comprehend what I was saying or maybe it`s language barrier... I was NOT speaking of US folks keeping the "good stuff" for themselves. I was thinking of some US folks not wanting to do business with people from here because it`s just too big of a hassle. And making your customers feeling like "second class" is not the way business should be done. And thanks for calling me a genius. dudeist skydiver #42 -
Gravity Gear shop and other crapy shops?

I would just like to add my opinion on this... - As I see it, the seller just did not want to sell to the OP (with all hassle connected with it). Especially that she had 3 times more orders already on these items. I see how it is easier to sell to someone in the US than to someone across on the other side of the world. And that is her right, of course. - The "buyer" was pissed because of it, thus he is trashing her store here. - 90% of you guys jumped in her defense, which is also expected because you have positive experiences. Why not. Now, I would not judge who was more right, or not, but one had to admit that this seller did not do 100% customer service here and that OP has some right to be pissed. The thing that strikes me the most is attitude of majority of posters. 90% of you behaved just like stone walls not getting what OP was saying, and you were repeating the same thing over and over to the point that it became ridiculous. WU is the very bad way of payment for BUYER. HE sends HIS money FIRST and the seller could just not send him anything. HE is risking here. You people just don`t want to listen and on pure mention of WU you yelled "SCAM!" WTF? The second thing that I like to add is that IMO and based on my experience, legitimate buyers from this part of the world have a hard time doing business with US companies. I "lost" couple of hundred euros (better said payed more) because poor customer service and non-action from one of the very well known seller for whom you all would put your hand into fire. I got the couple of hundred dollars worth of equipment from some other seller, but at much higher cost and much bigger hassle. I will not mention any names but I was very pissed because of the fact that it seemed that seller just did not want to do business with me. And in my book that is not good business attitude. I thought at least the people in US would know how to be a good capitalist. Judging by the previous posts if I get any of the replies it is going to be like "you should buy in Europe", "you should open PayPal", "you should find another dealer". I get it, it`s the easiest reply for most of you that live in "Pink skydiving world of US" where all you need is just to have enough cash. Well, for the rest of us that live in shitty countries where you can not easily find another dealer, get to a turbine DZ or open up PayPal account, having enough cash (and wanting to part from it) simply seems not to be enough. dudeist skydiver #42 -

It seems to me that production quality is worse on 150, at least that my friend has (with piano black finish). My 105 looks more rugged and looks like it can take more abuse than 150. But it`s totally my point of view. dudeist skydiver #42

When regular skydiving just doesn't do it for you...
mircan replied to skydiverkeith's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just last weekend we got a whuffo call on our tandem booking phone. He was interested if he could get into solo skydiving after tandem and was especially interested if we were doing that cool skydiving discipline... You know, the one where you throw your parachute out of the plane and then you jump after it trying to catch it. He wants to get into that. Your answer should've been "yes, but it's only a 1jump discipline" I`ll prepare that answer for the next time. dudeist skydiver #42 -

If we`re looking at the $ only, then we could consider, shipping, taxes and customs and that could pile up to 1000$+... And if that canopy is equal in performance with Icarus or PD there is no reason for someone from eastern world countries not to buy it (except for "it`s in style" reason). For example, there is xf-15 canopy from jojo-wings, i bet most of you seen it fly... At least 30% cheaper... dudeist skydiver #42 -
Very nice! *If I ever buy another canopy new, this could be my next color combination. dudeist skydiver #42

For Serbia, as in Austria: (whatever works in your home country is fine for our authorities, which gives you a max of freedom) 1) Third party insurance (what kind of insurance papers do you have to have): Whatever kind of insurance you already have. Not mandatory. 2) Licence (Valid through/expiry date? Indefintly valid?): Any "in date" national licence or FAI equivalent. (except students). 3) Ownership (do you have to carry some kind of “statement of ownership”? If yes: please explain) None whatsoever. Local jumpers must have gear booklets with date of annual inspection and rigger stamp. 4) Reserve (Described on packing card or extra paper? Serial or no serial? Lead-Seal required etc): Should have reserve packing card, with serial, date of mfg. 4 a) Repack cycles in your country? Do you accept other countries rules? Repack cycle here is 1 year. We do accept whatever is rule in your country. 5) AAD (Described on packing card? Serial or no serial needed? Maintenance cycle on packing card or extra paper? AADs are not mandatory except for students and tandems. It would be good to carry AAD regular inspection card. 6) Main (Described on packing card? Serial or no serial needed?) Packing card or some document of annual inspection. In reality, just airworthy. Which could always be checked by local rigger. 7) Gear/Container (Described on packing card? Serial or no serial needed? Same as former point. 8) Who states the airworthiness? (Where? Packing card?): Rigger on packing card. 9) Who is responsible for the airworthiness? (Rigger/Owner, etc?): Owner. dudeist skydiver #42

I resent that remark sir! There was one better car made in Yugoslavia! On the serious note, I drive a Yugo, and it`s great. Cost-wise. In your measuring units I can go 60 miles for 7$. And when a tree fell on my Yugo last winter, and totalled it, it was not that expensive to repair it. I think you can`t find cheaper car around. dudeist skydiver #42

I was asking b/c here nobody does backfly with tandems, and all I see on the internet pictures is vidiot`s legs in frame or something similar. I get the "get further away at opening" part as scott mentioned, but I was unsure if it was common practice over there to fly on back all the freefall. Since I got back from tunnel I like to backfly very much, I love front float freefly exits and I was eager to apply some more freeflying in tandem videos, but I can`t figure what would be right "moves". Not much outside videos that picture tandem vidiots at work. dudeist skydiver #42

Last year, about stupid as it gets. I hooked too low. I crashed. * even though I was stupid, I was tough (and someone up there really liked me), so I was out of the hospital after about an hour.
