Just last weekend... I was dispatching some students. Going through 1500ft I was thinking: If the plane goes dead right now, what would I do? Myself (students would be hitting silver anyway). First thing that came to mind was: main of course (i have A LOT low exits with fast opening demo canopies). But AAD would beat me to it. Still It looked like a lot altitude for pulling silver straight away... dudeist skydiver #42

On the serious note, that low and you went for the main... I try to tell (and train) myself, that if i`m LOW I`ll go straight for the silver but, stuff like this make me wonder... dudeist skydiver #42

I witnessed this on one occasion also, but it was Cypres fire. So I guess it does not count. I remember thinking, while I was running to the other side of hangar, please let him have an AAD... My lowest pull was ~1300/1500ft. Important demo, from helicopter, over very populated city area, at 8:30PM. I pitched immediately on exit and my pc got wrapped around my palm. So there I was playing air guitar over blocks of buildings and very low and the only landable area was tennis field size. It ended well, but I won`t do it again for sure... dudeist skydiver #42

I`m a fan. More into earlier stuff though. Their live show is the best.

Yeah, I know of that one. I was wondering how come there was no more of incidents like that one. The fact is that some factions on the rebel side in Libya have ties with terrorist organizations. Add the pile of AA missiles to that... And guess the result. dudeist skydiver #42

Pic 23 - I never saw Russian made weapon that has operating instructions written in English. Pic 6 - As far as I can tell, there is a whole lot of shoulder launched AA missiles there. Wonder where they are going to end up...? dudeist skydiver #42

Thanks for the info dude

Or all of the confiscated 'grass' in police lockers ... I mean storage You're just hoping to be downwind. These forums are FULL of splendid ideas If we put both popcorn and greens that you have munchies problem solved dudeist skydiver #42

I`m also left eye dominant, right handed. Mounted it on the left side. Away from the PC, aligned with dominant eye, works perfect. my2c dudeist skydiver #42

Yes, accuracy jumpers are quite touchy about the suspension points. When you aim for the pad you want to look straight below you, and different ring position on the harness definitely helps. IMO that is the reason for pickines about containers. Yeah, that one too. I wish I had a photo, it`s difficult to explain how does it look like without photo. Like really small triple riser.... Aha, that too. I had that one on old Centaurus I jumped. Got to be careful to not miss-rig it though... Or you are screwed. The other option is large lip slider. Like coffee table size big. Oh, once you start to hit the pad, this is a must. read John Eiff's accuracy pamphlet, go jump and start practicing. This is the BEST advice. That thing has some excellent info. Look, in the attachment is the photo I took last weekend. You can see: - spread chest strap for spreading canopy wider, - toggle grip (lines between fingers), - shaved down heel. P.S. one thing we all forgot to mention. You need some real upper body strength for steering these big-ass canopies. In deep brakes, sinking approach. Triceps and stuff. I made couple of hundred jumps on it, but never aquired taste for it... dudeist skydiver #42

My buddy got one RL16 from Jurassic era with kazillion jumps, imagine that So they could be found. Eventually. We`ll probably use it for water demo jumps or maybe burn it ritually later dudeist skydiver #42

You`re welcome dude. dudeist skydiver #42

Lots of people here jump classic accuracy and most of them have similar choices of gear: Containers: - PdF`s Atom Axis - NAA`s Centaurus or some copy of it. Mains: - 80-90% jump NAA`s Parafoil - the rest jump Eiff`s Classic and PdD Profil. PD Zero is new kid on the block so I don`t know anybody that jumps it. But Just yesterday I heard some good reviews about it. Hope it helps... dudeist skydiver #42

Well this opening was for sure quicker than the other one (on you tube) Still, a bit faster than my xfire. Thanks for the vid, and the info. Post some more when you get to it. Cheers dudeist skydiver #42

Get that video please. Looking forward to hear your first impressions.

I have two. - Bonehead FTP, for work video and - Tonfly Evolution Pro, for everything else. That would be about 1000$+ in total, just for the helmets... But I got FTP for free

cmon... did you see a pair of jumping boobies in there can`t it get couple of points for that? dudeist skydiver #42

Yeah! They should have some kind of auto-aiming device at least. I mean, they can bend space and have hovering motorcycles and stuff... dudeist skydiver #42

Can`t this issue be solved by just looking at the damn thing before jump? Even if it did fire before and did not cut the loop, it was because you almost died on your last jump. Shouldn`t you at least check your rig before next jump? I`m not negating that problem may arise, but solution (on skydivers part) can`t be simpler. I`m still interested, what`s the time window of chance that it did fire and that you pull silver after that and live. From the firing altitude you have about 4 seconds to impact. How much time for reserve deployment, 2-3 seconds? So If it fires, you have 1-1.5 seconds after that to pull the reserve, because after that you are fcked anyway. Please can someone more experienced help me on this. dudeist skydiver #42
-
So how much time does one have in that case to react? 1 second? Because after activation, and with total malfunction, how much time is left for safe reserve deployment? How many jumpers here do not check their gear before every jump? I`m really interested. Because if you don`t check to see the possible "Replace cutter" message, how would you see that battery ran out on some other AAD? In the event of no pull, the result would be the same. Wouldn`t it? dudeist skydiver #42

can you construct a custom weight belt safely?
mircan replied to quesera's topic in Gear and Rigging
+1 on that (especially considering skydiving equipment). I`m speaking from my experience. 90% of the time I made something by myself, or through other means, except buying new and pre-made it was just not worth it, or did not last for long, or had some flaw that made me think "why didn`t I think of this?". So I guess you can make it safe, but in the end you`ll probably see that it could have been better to just buy the damn thing in the first place. dudeist skydiver #42 -
Does that justify killing his grandchildren? Probably not, if they (the kids) were specifically targeted. But it appears that the target was the very top of "command and control": Ghaddafi and his adult sons. And they knew fully well that they were targets. That being the case, they had a moral obligation to get those kids the hell out of obvious harm's way. Their failure to do so, which I think can reasonably be presumed to be deliberate, amounts to the despicable tactic of using those children as human shields. I`m sure that it`s their own fault that they were killed... And not the people droping bombs... dudeist skydiver #42
