Russians are the stupidest most pigheaded servants ever. Skinny wannabe monarchs love them.
-
The USA has done the same but on a much larger scale. Harry Belafonte.

Carlson is probably contemplating running for president. -
In bursts lasting a few days each it seems. This too shall (temporarily) pass.

And now that most twitter accounts that used to be verified no longer have blue check marks there is a new problem. Some blue marks remain and people are crying foul over them because it is now a mark of shame. It makes them looks like they paid Musk's new fee.

Russia has a petrol glut causing low prices. I wonder why?

And there you have it. His team may have a POS at the top of the ticket, but the other team is worse. -
There is no natural or even cultural clear border between Ukraine and the Russian criminal state. The pre-war boundary is not defensible. Russia will have to give up some of its pre war territory when it is ready for peace and the new reality of NATO being on its border. Maybe a DMZ will be needed to keep Ukrainians from revenge raids.

Today Twitter removed the blue check marks from those accounts who won't pay up. It will be interesting to see who is willing to pay for social media cred.

But....you could easily get shot for that.

No it does not. As a listener of NPR I would say that it is very in tune to and focused on America and American politics. It is extremely Washington centric. This means that it does a great job of serving the American people, which is its mandate. The state based local stations are equally focussed on covering their customer base. It is not beholden to either of the dominant parties, but in covering the craziness of politics these days the picture being painted makes one of them look bad. It can't be helped. Even when using even brush strokes the right side of the image usually appears dark and foreboding.

Realistically I do believe that. But that belief is tempered by the fact that Clarence Thomas says free travel and luxury holidays does not buy influence either. Sometimes you have to give the devil his due.

Garden and fruit tree raiding was an acceptable sport as long as you were 12 or under.

But....not only are they cowards they are also unmotivated lazy drunkards as well. When they do manage to run over an undefended town they immediately go to the local hospital and murder babies. Just like the Iraqis did in Kuwait.
-
The ignorant ones are also cowardly in that they hide their identities on social media forums.
-
I stand corrected. Most Russians are cowards, a few are brave and stupid. The ones who are neither have already left the country or are attempting to.

This pretty much describes the thinking from the leadership of all sides during WW1.

They did quite well. It was a gamble. You have to know when to walk away from the table as a winner. They played the cards they had in their hand very well. They could have forced another draw, but instead they successfully got the other side to fold. With 3/4 of a billion sitting on the table. Which is really 1.5 Billion when you consider that money could have gone either direction. FOX leaves the game with their tail between their legs and looking pretty stupid. -
Good money in a poor backwards POS nation like the Federation of loser Russians.

Russians would not be cowards if it came time to defend Russia. They are not willing to go fight highly motivated people defending their homeland. Not even to advance Putin's distorted view of history and his personal destiny. If Putin does not back down soon it is inevitable that western nations will lose their fear of his weapons and even more overt support will begin to creep into the conflict. In the meantime he is doing his best to rally the population and is failing. Russia releases new recruitment video in latest push to boost military From CNN’s Uliana Pavlova and Rob Picheta The Russian Ministry of Defense published a new recruitment video Wednesday in its latest attempt to convince Russian men to abandon civilian life and join the war effort. The advert appears to mock men for wasting their time working as security guards, taxi drivers and personal fitness trainers. It ends with a shot of armed men in military uniforms with white smoke behind them and a large caption: "You're a real man. Be one." The ad also advertises the monthly salary one can earn by signing a Russian military contract, starting at about $2,510. Since the beginning of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, propaganda videos have played a key role in Moscow's efforts to recruit fighters. Videos posted on social media and aired on Russian TV try to appeal to Russian men through the narratives of patriotism, morality and upward social mobility. Russia's efforts to shore up its forces: Moscow's latest recruitment push comes shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law creating an electronic conscription registry which aims to make draft dodging harder. During Russia’s partial mobilization last September, men dodged the draft by leaving their registered addresses, not signing for draft letters and warning their family and co-workers from doing the same for them. Fears of a new mobilization: When the Russian parliament approved the law Wednesday making the country's conscription program more efficient and harder to evade, it spurred fears more citizens may soon be mobilized to fight in Ukraine. The United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence said Saturday the law signals Putin is gearing up for a long conflict ahead. The Kremlin, meanwhile, has characterized the law as an unremarkable streamlining of Russia’s biannual conscription process.

That would be fun to try to enforce.

Yes, I can only assume that they settled mostly to avoid having to testify. -
It's a long way to Mars. Baby steps.

Yeah....but what's the point of becoming that rich and powerful if you can't indulge in a little vanity project once in a while? I mean how much do you need to leave to your 10 and counting children?

NPR and APM have chosen to completely abandon Twitter. As I'm sure many individuals have done and will do. Elon has enough money that he can afford to toss it away. Good for him, bad for Twitter. It's possible to go broke without going woke.
