Most likely observation of snow pack for the coming spring flood. A lot of water is going to move through the Red River to Lake Winnipeg. The spring melt is late and therefore will happen quickly. This area is very prone to wide shallow flooding during spring. There were a series of large snowfalls late in the season that came one after another in the area of North Dakota and southern Manitoba.

Well, I must admit I had no real idea where the Azores are. So I spent 45 minutes reading about them and their history. On the internet. It's all there you just have to have the curiosity to look.

Thank you coach.

I can live with that. Diss away. Most of the time I will not respond in line with my new policy of posting less and saying more. If it makes you feel better I will state that I find far more people and things to admire about America than not. Just as most of the Americans here are people I admire, a few I have added to my kill list. The fact is that most of what gets discussed here is current events in the US. Am I not supposed to comment because you feel your nation is being dissed? No man is an island and neither is any nation. (well okay there are island nations) I don't even know how to grace this sentence with a coherent answer. Your values are all over the place. You feel cheated? By Canada? And you think I should show some restraint because you perceive me as living off of US crumbs? Again, I observe what I can and I comment on it in my own style. The irony of having an American ask me for moderation is somewhat amazing. America, land of outrageous boasting and flag waving. The land of extremes and excesses complaining about a lack of moderation. I don't think you really have a clue the amount of restraint I impose upon myself at times. Your nation is a wonderfully target rich environment. My cred with you seems to have disappeared with the season. PeePee is Pierre Poilievre. He is the new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and stands at least a reasonable chance defeating the Liberals in the next election and taking my nation in a somewhat R like direction. He is a very clever say anything that will work with the base populist politician. But you probably don't know much about him so there is not much point bringing him up here. Maybe we could exchange some views on the Canadian Constitution Act, or our Supreme Court.

So, does that mean the whole internet needs to brush up and put more focus on geography? And since I'm too lazy to figure it out and you already have, what is Hobart's antipode? Edit, I suppose I asked the wrong question. I mean WHERE is Hobart's antipode?
-
Well, I see it a little differently from you. I do attack Rs, if you feel I am attacking you I guess I should be more clear. My belief is that you feel under attack because your tribe is under attack by me. I never mean it personally. I sort of but not completely understand the conservative point of view. The fiscal aspects of it make some sense, but it is hard to comprehend the culture wars. No two people are the same and left and right are totally inadequate shorthand for complex views. I often point out stuff like the subject at hand in an effort to make people see that there are at least two sides to every story. Most people just want to see one side. I suppose because it is so much easier. I believe you have a history as a warrior. I understand that in such an occupation it is better and almost necessary to believe in and 100% support your cause. My flag is often on the same hill as yours, but off to one side.

Let me just get this straightened out once and for all. Both you and Joe (W) can take your flag waving indignation about foreigners daring to criticize your glorious nation and well.......express it all you want, I will mostly ignore as the distraction that it is. This is an international forum and just like America you can love it or leave it. I hope that is a decorous enough statement for you. I am not American, that does not mean I don't like America and it certainly doesn't mean I am not allowed to find fault in what is going on in America. You may have noticed there has been quite a shit show going on there for a few years now. So has the rest of the world. Yes, you are still better than Russia, China, and a whole bunch of shithole countries as well. But as long as you hold the world's reserve currency and enough weapons to change the population of the planet in a few hours, and dominate the English language news cycle we are all going to notice you and gossip about you as well. If you don't want the neighbours talking about you close the blinds while you are having your family fight. And try to keep the bullets contained within your own walls while you are at it. If you want to talk about the plight of Canadian First Nations people I am more than willing. After all I live in Winnipeg and it has close to the highest population percentage of native people in the country. My daughter in law is a treaty card holder. I am familiar with the issues and you are correct in thinking that they have some close parallels with oppressed groups in your country.

Four of their agents were killed in the initial attempt to raid the compound. That would be the main reason they were so pissed off. What do you expect when that happens to a federal law enforcement agency? This is untrue. Allegations of sexual abuse including that of children were published in the local Waco newspaper on Feb.27th weeks before the raid. Edit, I now realize that Feb 27 was only one day before the initial raid, but weeks before the tragic assault.
-
Both events were about over zealous law enforcement agencies losing patience costing unnecessary loss of life. One became a symbol of all that is wrong with government over reach for some people. One is a symbol embraced by a very different group of citizens. The main reason for the difference? You tell me. And yes it stinks.

I guess it depends on the spin and your point of view. The American right tends to get upset about this, but they are ok, or at least say nothing about the Philadelphia Move bombing.

A teacher made us memorize that song in grade 7. But shouldn't it be canceled these days for the derogatory reference to NY sex trade workers?

Apparently they are needed in banks now too.

Elon is a busy man. He has no time to spend checking facts when a whim comes to him about something as small as this. Besides, when you spend enough of other people's money to acquire control of a shiny new toy you expect to be able to play with it however you like. Yet somehow his fans still think he will send people to Mars and that Tesla won't eventually be swamped by real car companies.

As a general rule we are all much better off when we listen to the women.
-
Gee, thanks coach.

Sorry Joe. I can't always keep up with your level of clever snarky cynicism.

The culture wars are completely out of hand. It seems like insanity on so many issues in the US at the moment. Will there be a backlash or will good people sit on their hands? Stay tuned for November 2024.

McVeigh is dead and Nichols is in supermax. You could be afraid everyday if you like. Won't make a lick of difference.

A lot of people have what is often called "anger management issues". People, especially those with testosterone, often lose their temper and strike out in anger. If they happen to be exercising their 2nd Amendment rights at the time it can get to be very bad for both parties. Injury or death for one and long prison time for the other.

Largely because it is a land intensive and polluting product to produce and they don't care that much about that. There is not a shortage at the present time and there are adequate reserves for long term needs. But it appears likely that in the medium term there will be a shortage as the demand increases and mining, processing and recycling all take longer to ramp up. This makes lithium producers a very good investment if you are willing to look forward a few years. China is centrally planned and more likely to invest for the future than western companies with stock prices to consider are.

Yes, those sort of arguments are just attempts at distraction. You could even take it another step and say that everyone is going to die anyway so who cares if a bullet is the agent and the person is young? God's will be done.
-
Personally I'm more concerned about the supply chain for pharmaceutical production being in the hands of India and China.
-
So, you do understand that when those numbers on China's "control" are reported they mean that Chinese companies own the mines that are scattered around the world and not that the mines are in China, right? If China tries to deny those supplies to the rest of the world it just means that investment in other mines will be required and a bunch of Chinese companies will go broke.

The gun distribution in the US is very unfair. The 1% ers have far too many leaving vast numbers of vulnerable "gunless" Americans unarmed and therefore potential victims. What is needed is a fair gun program to even out the killing field. A "gunicare program" if you will. Starting of course with "gunicaid" so that no children are left out of feeling secure and subsidised guns for the over 65 crowd who are surviving on meager pensions and may only have access to rimfire pistols.

And.....they voted out the two black men but spared the white woman.
