  1. That sounds kind of odd..... So if someone breaks into your house, and steals / destroys a bunch of crap you can only claim 10% of your policy value? FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  2. Very well put, I like that... I to like the fact that I can be and am 'legally' prepared. Banning guns will only remove guns from the law abiding citizen, making us all a little bit less able to defend ourselves and letting the criminals know that they have one hell of alot less threat when they go to do that thing they do.. 3. Un-fucking-believable. - Jim Ya know, the same thing we do with solders WHO WE send to Iraq, they kill someone and get sent to prison, ... They should ofcourse take the time to think about what they are gonna do before they fire, because a situation like this ALWAYS offers alot of time to think about things.. This shit just pisses me off.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  4. 92? That's a good amount of air... So, when you going? FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  5. I didnt even notice that URL... Checked it out... Do we really need another skydiving forum? I have a hard enough time keeping up with this one! FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  6. Usually being the operative word there . Hey, isn't it supposed to start raining again anyway...just in time for the weekend ? And in this sport, your equipment will USUALLY function as designed.. The weather just says "Partly cloudy" w/ 10% chance of precep for Jamul (SSD)... I think we should hopefully be able to get some jumps,. . I hope to also go tomorrow, which the weather says PM showers.. we'll see I guess.. Wish I could have not been at work all day today, seemed like a very nice day. FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  7. Well, you know how it is... The towel-carrying skills are something that you can just work on as you go.. I'm sure all of the important parts are covered in the ACB course... I would definately prefer that than old-school method where they just make you carry towels a bunch of times before you get to take part in all the fun parts of the experience... FGF #??? 8. Nate, is your cabana boy certification current? You know, I skipped that rating, thinking I should look into that now though FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  9. yes, many simularities... Both VERY fun to do,.. I just bought some tickets for some boat dives (not scheduled yet).... Got a good deal on them, so if anyone wants to go and they just cant afford to give up the jump money, I may be willing to give one of my tickets free of charge FGF #??? I miss the sky... 10. Well, just keep in mind that the water temp really does not change *THAT* much, But yea, if it's been that long a refresher course may be a good choice... Even though it's not required, one big difference between the sports... you can get certified and not dive for 20 years, your certification is still good... FGF #??? I miss the sky... 11. Baaahhh... I do believe the risk is little higher than Skydiving, but it's another one of those "just pay attention to detail" and "dont do anything stupid" and you'll be fine sports.. As for the drowning, I've heard that it's supposed to be one of the most peaceful ways to die (after the initial panic ofcourse). Besides, that's why your supposed to dive in pairs, so if one person has problems the buddy has air to share.. It just also makes it a harder sport for me to do, as I need someone else to go with unlike skydiving where I can just go by myself if I want.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... 12. Only been within 100 feet of a shark once, not so bad... just get to the bottom, they will usually leave you alone... FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  13. Hey, anyone in the San Diego area want to check out some scuba, It's been too damn long since I went diving (May) and I'm itching to get back in the water, . Just dont really know any divers around here. PM ME! FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.

Wasnt too excited about it, but, here I am... FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.

  17. That's a much better response than my "toggle stuck" mal on a Nav 260, which I had on AFF 3... From my log book is something like "Canopy uncontrollable, student did NOT initiate cut away, took crosswind landing at high speeds narrowly missing obsticles" .... One of the obsticles being a building I could have probably kicked on my way past it at 30mph... I was offered a refund on my remaining AFF jumps since I had payed up front and basicly told bowling may not be a bad hobby, but was offered a second chance (thankfully).. FGF #??? I miss the sky... 18. I had once recently, the freaky part is that I know the feeling I had in my arm because a couple of years ago the feeling happened to me a couple of times (had a bunch of problems with my right arm, nobody did ever figure out why).. But anyway, I was in freefall and It's time to pull, I reach back to pull and I have almost NO strength in my arm, cant keep a grip on my hacky and even if I do I dont have the strength to pull.. Was able to pull the reserve with my other hand, then I woke up. Felt so real it was freaky, ... FGF #??? I miss the sky... 19. First off, Brian, Your book "The Parachute and it's Pilot" is awsome, it is honestly some of the best money I have spent since getting into the sport.. I got it after a really bad 4th jump, and I feel that I have learned more from that book than any of my "formal" canopy training.. I would also like to say, as a recent student, that I agree with what most of this thread says.. Canopy training needs to be improved, and after reading this thread I have every intention of enrolling in a canopy control course eather at Skydive San Diego or Perris Valley as soon as I hear of one starting that fits my work schedule... Also just wanted to comment on the "consecutive landing" ideas that have been thrown out, .. One person mentioned that such a approach might not be a good idea with someone who is too new, ... I just wanted to say that I also agree with that statement... I think that mabey the accuracy requirements could be increased for the 'A' license, however I dont think there should be any "consecutive" requirements, or atleast requirements as large as *5* in a row, until you have a slightly more mature jumper, mabey for a 'B' license requirement? If you wanted some kind of consecutive requirement mabey something like 5 out of 7 in a row meeting the requirement for the A? This would allow some room for the student to not think about loosing the last 4 jumps worth of effort. I was also kind of curious as to what people in this forum consider a "good point" to start experimenting with no-contact CRW, just getting in close proximity to other jumpers under canopy... I have already done it a couple of times, and feel completely comfortable with it as long as both jumpers are aware of the other at all times.... Thanks for reading my mess of mind dump.. FGF #??? 24. A little off topic due to the fact that I dont jump a sabre, but I did have another thread a bit ago saying that my canopy did exactly the same thing, it would snivel and look like everything was perfect, then at the last second go into a sharp turn... Although I always figured I was keeping my leg straps even, someone told me to really pay attention to how tight each one was and to ensure they were even.. Anyway, I really started paying alot of attention to how I tightened them, and since then I have not had ANY problems with my openings.. Something to look at? Maby not FGF #??? I miss the sky...
