  8. I love being the first in the door, I get a kick out of sticking my head out the door for some reason
  9. I've had the metal clip on the strap for my Gunner release during freefall in the past.. I still have not changed it to a plastic clip, but it's on my list of things to do... In my case I noticed that the helmet started getting a little "light" on my head as it started to come off, put my hand on it and held it for deployment... FGF #??? I miss the sky... 10. I'm just a big fan of the Twin Otter, love the door, the exits, just like the plane in general... I've also jumped from a King Air, Grand Caravan, CASA, PAC 750, and Skyvan. FGF #??? 11. It took me a bit to get over the floating exit... I am deathly afraid of hights, I still can not climb a ladder to my roof without shaking, getting down is worse. I felt like I was afraid of falling off the plane when floating (duh!) ... Just do it a few times, it takes some getting used to having the prop blast trying to rip you from the door, ... I got over it when I had to, I was doing RW and there were jumps that I was told I would float, so I did... To "ease" into it, you may try to be a rear float first so that the front float can take most of the prop blast until your comfortable with that Just do it, and have fun.. Wear a smile as you climb out or something.
  12. Depending on the condition he could still be "safe" in the sky.... All I know is that I would not want someone with these habbits hanging out on my home DZ... This guy needs to get back on his meds or treatment, or stay away from the DZs IMO... I like being able to leave my shit out and not worry about it. FGF #??? I miss the sky... 13. Hey, thats some good stuff! I wouldnt trade for that dude, you'd be getting ripped off... besides, you can never have enough of it! FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  14. I would personally chop a line over, controllable or not. Like others have said, it's not predictable, never know what its gonna do at 100 feet. Another concern I would have (which most definately takes the back seat to my health) is that line causing damage to the canopy, line burn, or whatever.. FGF #??? I miss the sky... 15. It can be done perfectly safe, you just have to avoid one type of exit where you stand straight up perpendicular to the ground. You can launch out the door crouched, into a horizontal position belly to earth, head into the relative prop-blast wind - and that won't be a problem. Hop 'n pops are a lot of fun. Many types of aircraft have peculiarities to watch out for, but that doesn't mean they aren't safe to jump out of. I agree, it can be safe... It just seems that in that situation, it would be worth it for the plane to slow down in case someone does make a standing exit from that plane. It seems that not everyone gets this brief of a low tail on the caravan, which is only an issue on very few exits during a normal jump run. It's not just the jumper that doesnt know the tail is lower on this aircraft that is in danger here, a strike to the tail could cause damage to the aircraft and potentially become a problem for everyone onboard. I am simply questioning whether it is really worth not slowing down on this type of aircraft, I can not imagion that it is that much of an impact with time or fuel to make it necessary to continue climbing for a H&P. Thankfully I have never seen my DZ do a climbing jump run with the Caravan. I have done a few climbing H&Ps in the Otter, but that aircraft is better built for such an exit. And I know H&Ps are lots of fun, I keep atleast 10% of my jumps H&Ps FGF #??? I miss the sky... There are 10 types of people in the world... those who understand binary and those who don't.
  16. Replyed to nobody in particular: Which is a point I was trying to make in my past post.. On a plane such as a caravan, is it worth the risk to H&P with the plane (which already has a low tail) in a configuration that the tail is lower due to it's climb and moving faster as well? Just seems kinda dumb. Am I just missing something? Nothing against the climbing H&P, done a few in the Otter, but never seen it done with a Caravan. FGF #??? I miss the sky... 19. Some DZs say have 50 jumps and meet the requirements for a 'B' license.. Some say you gotta have a 'B' .... My DZ requires the B license. Seen both. I'm sure some other DZs have different rules... The SIM also says something about it. FGF #??? I miss the sky...
