  1. 'Cause you ran off! "Boo hoo, I had a cutaway, I'm LEAVING!!! WAHHHHHH!" How's that?
  2. I know, that was my point. That a little overprescription isn't necessarily a bad thing. Click on the FAQ up there to learn how to quote from another post.
  3. Frustrating!!! Yowza! I miss hockey...
  4. This isn't what I meant in my original example, by the way. This is closer: "Doctor, my throat hurts BAD." "Well, let's get a culture. It might be strep, it might not. We'll go ahead and treat you with antibiotics in the meantime." "Thanks doc." Do you eat beef Justin? Talk about overconsumption of antibiotics. Anyway. For the record: I won't even take OTC medications, generally speaking. I don't like chemicals in my body. But not so very long ago, I turned out to be very grateful for the existence of antidepressants for a short while. Attitudes like yours kept me away from them for way too long. Thus my emotional response to your "insensitive rant."
  5. Elected officials have inappropriate relationships every day. Even if the jilted parties go public, no one ever cares. But have the intern you were schtupping disappear, well then, there's hell to pay. I just don't buy this motive here.
  6. Y'all are nuts! Condit's an idiot who was doing an intern, but she ran into some random foul play. I'll bet a dollar Condit had nothing to do with it. Why do you think he did?
  7. ROTFLMFAO Frank...you are awesome... A gentleman, a scholar, a Canadian, a journalist and a skydiver. And a pinko-commie liberal.
  8. Ah, but you were the first dz.commer I jumped with.
  9. Happy birthday! I've cutaway my main (on the ground) like a million times recently for different reasons and every time I reassemble my gear I think of YOU.
  10. Yes, EXACTLY what I think, but sans the profanity.
  11. Oh, and skydiving's GREAT for depression.
  12. And what's going to give them the impetus to do this? A fairy godmother's magic wand? Depression is a disease. There are people prescribed antibiotics who may or may not have a bacterial infection. I'd rather see that happen occasionally then someone lose a leg to gangrene because the doctor's catious about overprescribing. Depressed people can't just "freaking get over it." Any more than someone with cancer can just muster up enough will power to kill the malignant cells. I agree with Michele. I don't care if this isn't "directed at any particular individual here or elsewhere;" it's still not very nice. People kill themselves all the time. And even if it never gets that bad, there are people just listlessly existing, horribly unhappy, wondering why they're alive. Meds have a stigma, and they shouldn't.
  13. Hmm...let's see.... Msdeva, CJSniper, Freeflygoat and Freaksis, JTVal, nacmacfeegle, levin, ramon, airann, cyberskydive, aggiedave, Trent, christoofar, cloud9, snowflake, ummm a shitload of others at SSM who have weird login names . This weekend I'll meet wildblue, scottbre, vallerina, sunshine, spy38w. And of course, there's PhreeZone.

    Jumping again

    Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. rotflmaopimp etc. Now now. Quote-mark overuse is an ugly, ugly thing. It is Jack Foleian in its scope. Let's take this "seriously."
  16. I may be the only one who posts this.... But...I LOVE packing for myself. It takes me forever and it wears me out, but it took me so long to learn how, I take immense satisfaction in it. I don't plan on using a packer again in the near future. Give me a few months, though, and I'm sure I'll hate it like the rest of you.
  17. I work for a metropolitan newspaper on the copy desk. That means I work ungodly hours editing stories and just generally getting the paper together. I write headlines, fix errors, smooth prose, etc. etc. Sometimes I man the wires, meaning I watch for news happening, and pick stories to go in the paper. I also read dz.com but people don't post much at night.
  18. Don, this would have been funnier had you written: "Good" one, Jess. Thus implying it was not good at all. I'm not sure what you wrote means. And yes, Richard, when I put on my "insufferable grammar nazi" hat, why, I get more play than I know what to do with!
  19. Then get that bitch in the air!!!!!!
  20. This site always makes me laugh really hard. So do the dz.com forums. Coincidence? I think not.
  21. He should call his doctor and ask. The drug itself is no reason not to skydive, but there's a very small chance the depression might be.
  22. Keep looking around. A Stiletto is just crazy talk, and you might as well get a ZP canopy instead of a PD. I jump an F-111 PD canopy, and the flare sucks and it's more or less worthless as far as resale value goes. I bet if you try, you can find a nice docile 9-cell ZP.
  23. Oh, MAN. I'm glad you're okay. *hug* A lot of us have been "that guy" or "that girl." It's valuable to talk about it. Thanks for sharing your story. That was gutsy.
