Avoid the weekends. Go during the week and even on a day that starts out shitty but its expected to improve, that will ensure a lot less people and more one on one attention by the instructor, you may also get more jumps in one day. Just happen to be flipping through channels and came across Discovery channel's Top Gear (British car show). There was skydiver swooping into a convertible mercedes, kinda cool, but not as dramatic as the headlines would be if he had gotten hurt or killed. How much QC is involved when your rigger packs it. How many extra eyes get to see his work? I can kinda see that if you get brand new gear and you want to check it over yourself, but there is no guarantee that your rigger is not going to be the one that F's up? Your rigger who is felling tired/sick, sleepy, or fresh and fully awake, packing his x rig of the day is just as likely to miss something as the mfr.'s rigger in the same situation. Honest human error does happen and CANNOT be eliminated. Shit happens. It think it has more to do with your level of trust. Would you rather have your rig packed by a new rigger who is doing it by the numbers and tripple checking all his steps, or would you rather have someone who has been doing it for so many years that he/she becomes complacent? I love unstable exits. Whenever jumping alone you will almost always see me doing cannon balls out of the plane. It's one of the best parts of the dive to just tumble thru the air getting faster and faster, wheeeee. The only thing you have to do to stop is to open up and arch a little. I jumped the Nav 280, 260 and the Silhoette 230 and really liked them. Nice soft opening and 90+% on heading. I have no other point of reference, but would be glad to jump any of those canopies for a long time. P.S.
