  1. If I'm going to a house party; do I really need to wonder if I should strap up? Cause if I do - not the party for me.
  2. Well said. It explains a lot.
  3. My $.02 is to strike this phrase and replace it with . . . This presentation will allow the newer skydiver to view different disciplines for us to discuss more in-depth and get them on a swim-lane specific to their passion.
  4. While you represented the fact of 20% correctly, you went on to state, " . . . it’s going to be a while before EV are anything more than an upper middle class curiosity." Clear case of confirmation bias - the reinforcement of existing attitudes by selectively presenting evidence. Or, the fallacy of incomplete evidence which is the act of pointing to individual points of data that confirm a particular position, while ignoring a significant portion of related data in that same study that may contradict that position. Your last statement indicated the EV market will not succeed and was disingenuous. In short, you left out 90% of the study to present the 10% that fit the point you wanted to make.
  5. Those videos were people who were already advanced skydivers or wing-walkers. The real question is: Do you want to safely skydive or wing-walk or do you want to wear a dress.
  6. Well Yaa. That's what happens when you only donate $500.00 worth of car.
  7. True. Both are incentives.
  8. Donate it "as is" to a charitable organization and take the 3K deduction - that'll piss him off and help out a charity.
  9. I wanna play. It's more of a deduction; not unlike your rental properties. Why does the government offer a marginal well tax credit. I mean if they can't make any money on those wells; wouldn't Econ 101 say they shouldn't exist?
  10. Let's tell the whole story: According to a study by the University of California, around 80 percent of first-time EV buyers end up leasing or purchasing another electric car. The study notes that brands like Tesla showed especially high brand loyalty. In contrast, the study found that buyers that owned some other EVs like ones by Fiat ended up going back to gas-powered cars. In fact, 20 percent of first-time EV buyers went back to internal combustion. However, it seems there was one central problem in these cases. The study by the University of California found that most of these owners reported having trouble charging their vehicles. As a result, if you have access to solid charging infrastructure, chances are you’ll keep your next EV long term. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/electric-car-owners-back-internal-combustion/
  11. I took it as exactly this - not necessarily instruction, but discussion points for the sub 200 skydivers. Hutch and I used to work the WFFC specific to getting and keeping the sub 100s in the sport, fun jumps, easy four ways, SCR's and most important - safety at a large boogie. We too had these conversations "When can I do that?" in the evenings. There's always one guy on Reddit that's going to poop on anything you do - cause, well, they can.
  12. Times are changing and I find myself drawn to this new line of EV's. Ford just announced the Lightning Pickup with an entry price of 40K https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2022-ford-f-150-lightning-electric-pickup-truck-specs-pricing/
  13. My opinion is that it's a good video to cause discussion. Consider, 1) Establishing your credibility on a single page, and 2) a "Table of Contents" with timeline benchmarks in the description section. For example: Watch this video to learn more about the difference in skydiving disciplines: Subject | Video Timeline Wind Tunnels | 1:43 Accuracy | 2:15 Kinethesia | 3:05 Etc. Etc.
  14. If there were no such thing as privilege, the word wouldn't exist. When you first started talking about, "Homophily," it was a throwback to undergrad school and is part of the curriculum for both inter and intra-personal communication. Privilege is real. I "think" the issue most people have is when you throw "white" in front of it. Since we're sharing; allow me to share a moment of "awakening." Learning of homophily in college caused me to reflect on an instance in Central America. 1. When first in country; I would go to El Centro in the evenings. It was a great place to learn about the people, the culture, etc. But, I just simply enjoyed it. It took me to a different place and time of which I was jealous - a simpler life. As the evening progressed and the crowd waned, mid-teenage girls would come over and touch my arm and drag their fingers across it as they moved on. Their mothers would look at me with a sense of affection. That night, I had a discussion with Carlos; A Hispanic operative born in Central America, raised in southern Florida and who had been assigned as my interpreter. I asked him what the fuck is up with these little girls touching my arm like that while their mothers watch - and even more importantly what happens when the fathers show up. Carlos went on to explain that there is a social hierarchy. "You'll notice that most of the girls touching you are darker. If you were to have children with them; their children would be born with lighter skin and move up in the social hierarchy." I think it was the first time I had an awareness of just being white and nothing else, not rich, nothing - just white.

If you're referring to the NDSM; you may want to revisit that. And, until recently, those without an NDSM could not gain membership in the American Legion.
  16. Yes. Really. Not true. That is an extreme right. bible-thumping, holier than though, I'll be your spiritual leader, while I fuel up the Learjet to fly around on vacation to do the Lord's work, position.
  17. "...until the medical profession defines that point at which life begins." That was your position a couple of years and I found it a good starting point at that time and have stuck with it. And, in that same conversation, my position was and still is - unless the mother is a victim of crime or medical condition; then it should be the responsibility of both parents to make the decision. But, we've been here before, I'm not going to change my mind, nor do I expect you to change yours.
  18. This will always be a sliding scale of argumentation until the medical profession defines that point at which life begins.
  19. <hangs head> You were a child of abuse; weren't you?
  20. Wanted to separate this out - you are correct. But, the type of economic system often derives the policy changes (fiscal policy/monetary policy) that differing forms of governments enact.
  21. I get down on my knees and pray you're wrong. No better words spoken.
