I have sooooo got to move out of this godforesaken state. I was sooooo ready to pack up and leave and them someone offered me a decent job back in technology. Dammit! I'll be at SDD this weekend. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

NCSR #1 is the lowest (sorry, had to be a smart-aleck) you probably meant the lowest nSCR out there in dz.com land. Bill's in the process of updating his website (www.scr-awards.com) with all award holders and your name can appear on there Oh yeah... Congratualions. I love nightjumps!! Understood and I do. Just thinking about a more efficient process than an additional three manufacturer waivers for the students to sign. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
-
This may be a question for greater powers that be; but I've often wondered if it's not possible to pull all the tandem waiver forms from all the manufacturers into one waiver for the students that holds all Tandem manufacturers harmless. I work in an area where the TI's bring their own rigs and when we have a bunch of students, they have to fill out all three (since we're not sure which TI will get which student). Since all three basically say the same thing except for the specific manufacturer is it not possible to roll everything up into one which could be warehoused on the USPA website. If other manufacturers pop up, the USPA could add them or drop the one's that stop manufacturing. If this idea gets totally shot down and your DZ has the same issue of more than one tandem manufacturer - perhaps you could share with me if you have come across a more efficient process. Thanks, Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

One of our local Birdmen wears both the ProTrack and a GPS which he velcro bands on to his Bicep. After each jump, he goes to his laptop, downloads the Protrack info and enters the GPS info into a spreadsheet then goes home and merges the data. howto explain to friend that (s)he is dangerous?
BIGUN replied to gravityizsexy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is another option. You've expressed two situations of concern. 1) she deployed her pilot chute at 6k when planned for a 3.5-4k opening almost directly below one of my other buddies that shook him up real good, and 2) in the same day almost deflated his wifes main at 1.5 thousand... Instead of having a talk with her that will put her on the defensive, how about talking with her in the way that someone with your lesser experience level might learn from her mistakes? You could bring up the high opening and say something about why she did that and are there circumstances that call for pulling high or was it something she chose to do. Then you could bring up the situation about traffic in the pattern an what is too close? What does it mean when another skydiver is kicking their legs while under canopy while in the traffic pattern? Allow her to address them. She will probably still be defensive because she was in the wrong, but if nothing else, you will have caused her to - as hooknswoop used to say, "Think." Download Kallend's, "Downloadable freefall modeling program for Windows" and replicate the parameters in the attachment. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

OK. Well, it's not like it's a showstopper or anything, just a minor inconvenience. Takes an extra second to C/P the tags where they belong. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

http://www.iit.edu/~kallend/skydive/ Then click on; "Downloadable freefall modeling program for Windows" It's a great tool "to determine the most likely trajectories of (groups of) skydivers with different fall rates, given the fall rate, airplane speed, and winds." You are correct that I said, "If spotting for the release point, then separation would have the same effect." And, that was probably my fault for not expanding enough. And, since you haven't addressed my comment that winds aloft have an effect on both spotting and separation, I am assuming that we are in agreement. Everything else is then apparently moot. Including my need to break out the numerous books regarding the physics, math, and qualitative experience from the myriad of skydiving professionals I've come to know over the years - including yourself. And for what you've taught me and for our discussions, I thank you. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

IMO opinion, the S&TA and DZO should first investigate the cause. 1) If the Cypres fire was done during the sequence of performing all emergency procedures, then an after-action report should be done for discussion among all TI's on the DZ for future prevention along with the requisite Tandem Manufacturer Incident Report. 2) If the cause was altitude awareness and the TI failed to pull the handles, I think there should be a grounding period, remedial training and a sign-off by a Tandem I/E prior to that TI being allowed to handle students again. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
-
I did not expand enough on my last statement and if you're saying that I miscommunicated, that's one thing. If you're saying that winds aloft do not have an effect on both spotting and separation, then we have a disagreement. However, no disagreeement need be left on the note of the belittling comment as the one made here. You may view it as an opportunity to correct me if I am wrong or an opportunity to engage in educational debate. But, you may not take it as an opportunity to denigrate. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
