  1. I clicky'ed on your clicky's clicky to discover: chute NOUN: 1. An inclined trough, passage, or channel through or down which things may pass. 2. A waterfall or rapid. 3. A parachute. VERB: Inflected forms: chut·ed, chut·ing, chutes TRANSITIVE VERB: To convey or deposit by a chute. INTRANSITIVE VERB: To go or descend by a chute. ETYMOLOGY: French, a fall, alteration (influenced by chu) of Old French cheoite, from feminine past participle of cheoir, to fall, from Vulgar Latin *cadre, from Latin cadere. See kad- in Appendix I. Sense 3, short for parachute. http://www.bartleby.com/61/3/C0350300.html We've spent WAAAAAAAAY too much time on this subject. There's nothing to see here folks, let's move along.... Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  2. I say, "chute" all the time. "Keith, wanna make a jump?" "Lemmee go get my chute." Or is it "shit?" I forget. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  3. Neither does not posting LouDiamond's chart on the back of the aircraft, nor the pilot not communicating the ground speed. I like BillVon's approach to /2, but there is still that commmunication gap. I'm thinking every plane ought to have a bullhorn like Mullins bird... He comes on and tells ya, exit, exit, exit and I noticed at WFFC last year, he was giving separation times between groups. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  4. If you're in Oklahoma or can make Skyfest, veteran's will not pay for recurrency within 90 days of returning CONUS. Bring DD214 or sumpin else to show. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. Thanks for pointing that out, Eric. I completely blew by the BASE reference. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  6. Does your "family" know where you live and come visit you or do you just have to go to their place? See how many of them show up over the next six weeks without you inviting them. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. Actually, those don't look too different tha some of the creativity I've seen from skydivers when they can't jump. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  8. Well, if your interest lies in accuracy, then you're probably going to be looking at Parafoils or Eiff. http://www.paragear.com/templates/parachute.asp?group=37&t2parent=2&parent=9&level=3 http://www.eiff.com/ Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  14. You may not be looking at the wrong rig, but you're looking in the wrong place for advice. Please talk with your instructors. You may be looking at a rig that is too large or too small depending on your skill, the number of jumps, the manner in which you control your canopy, etc. etc. Those who watch you, guide you, train you are going to give you the best direction. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  15. About three years ago, Four of us decided to make a HAHO jump over downtown Tulsa and fly back to Skiatook under canopy (about 13 miles). Got out @ 14K and dumped. Plane headed back. ATC called the pilot and asked him to come back and circle around us until waved off. Seems the ATC guy was catching intermittant blips of us and they wanted to make sure where we were. Our pilot came back back and circled. ATC then started passing SW Airline flights under us at 4K - kewl sight to see under canopy. 16. Yup. Two shots of Tabasco mixed with two shot of Tequila and you have to chug it. It was one of the most painful things I've experienced. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  17. So, back in the day, I'm in a bar with a bunch of Army Rangers... Course the macho is all over the room. One challenges me to have a "Ranger Shot." Not knowing what it is and with a significant enough threats to my masculinity if I don't have one - mouth off about being able to handle anything a F#ckin Ranger can throw at me (had quite a few shots of JD by this point). Well, the old-fashion glass gets placed in front of me; it's blood red. What exactly is a "Ranger shot?" IT's two shots of Tabasco and two shots of Tequila mixed together. Again...mouth off about being able to handle anything a F#ckin Ranger can throw at me. I was painfully wrong. Very painfully wrong. 20. Clay, I've spent quite a bit of time at SDD and was a visiting TI one summer. While the Tandem cost may sound a bit pricey, the process and professionalism for tandems is a good model for any DZ to emulate. The class room training is superb, the TI's (All of them) make for a very fun experience. It's not the take your money, cursory training, take'em on a jump, pat em on the butt and show them the door. The TI's will spend time with them afterwards to talk about skydiving, students are encouraged to walk around and talk to skydivers, hang out and party for the evening, etc. They really do a great job of trying to build a long-term relationship, encourage additional training and making every customer feel welcome. 21. Tip 2 - If Tip one is ignored, have band-aids within arms distance of said machine. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  22. Having been a DZO, albeit part-time, there's a lot to be said for putting the fun back in it. I found myself moving around, but not gettting anywhere. Now, I can jump without having freefall thoughts of all the stuff I need to do when I get on the ground. Just show up at a DZ, manifest, get on a load, have fun, pack up, do it again. Good luck. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  23. So, you really have nothing more to offer in the form of an explanation to the original post. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  24. Read the material. Pay attention in class. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  25. I think the gas companies determine their declining price point based on the decibel meter. Punch it up high, wait for the screaming to ensue, then gently lower it down till the decibel level is acceptable. Ever notice that when this happens, it never goes back to the price we had the year before? Please don't flame me, I'm just making a funny and don't need the "demand-related" class. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
