  2. While I can appreciate your sarcasm; personally, I'd like to see Obama fix the VA Health Care system as a test model before attempting to fix the entire U.S. Health Care system. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  3. My point was really more about switching disciplnes. There's no need for it and it does have hazards. If a DZ offers AFF, what sense would it make to start on SL and then switch to AFF? You could just start on AFF to begin with.*** Former Military Airborne S/L'ers do better climbing their way to altitude, rather than having 13.5K thrust upon them. No different than AFF students having a difficult time with suddenly exiting lower on the mandatory HnP's than their normal pull altitude. If the student is comfortable with an ISP progression from IAD to an eventual AFF, what's the rush to accelerate them. I had a couple of former Airborne guys that were pushed into AFF too soon and walked away. Brought them back and we did S/L's all the way to 10K. Let them take their time. One went on to PRCPs from 10K and while taking longer than most students; enjoyed the slower pace and was extremely inquisitive on the ground in between jumps and became a good skydiver. The other made it to 10 sec delays and just wasn't comfortable with freefall, but loved sunset S/L's and cross-country. Asked if he could come out and just do those every week. (former Captain with the Herd in 'nam). He did it for a couple of years and loved them. You remember when the ISP came out and the controversy over it. During that time I was one of its cheerleaders because sometimes; we can't force a student to fit any one mold, but can use the ISP to fit their needs. No matter what one thinks of the USPA; imo, one of the best things they've produced is the ISP. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

That why you're pissing in our ears? Exactly how much is a golden shower these days? Send check Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. I know a guy who would drive to the DZ. Stay far enough away to just watch and then drive home. Today he is an AFF Instructor. I know another guy who was on S/L for 31 jumps. He later went on to make 104 jumps in 12 hours out of a C-182. Stories like this abound. But, in the end, no one can tell you anything that you can do that will take that feeling away or even tell you to press on. Skydiving is a personal choice. 6. Well, first they'd need a mission statement. You know; something like, "We will not argue with those who believe in Jesus, God, Allah," etc. Then, start a web site that had a single web page with nothing but a black background on it. It's always been interesting to not only listen to the arguments among religions about which is the true religion, but if an atheist shows up; what do they argue about - nothing. But wait, then there's the whole agnostic thing. They wouldn't fit in either group - believers or non-believers. Maybe they'd qualify for some kind of small business set-aside program. Sorry... I'm in "a" mood. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. Perhaps. But, would it be the same as if there were a greater percentage of population who use cigarettes and/or beer and/or Marijuana and/or LSD and/or meth and/or Heroin because the government now endorses it? 8. Aaaah, Gotchya. Well, I don't know about the engine compartment size or if the suspenison would require beefing, or the effect on the entire power train, but I do know my nighbor has the DOdge cummins BMF diesel and having owned a PowerStroke myself; was significantly more impressed with the sheer torque and power of the cummins. One of the guys I work with does this for his adrenaline rush... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlTa-Y0brbw Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  11. If we legalize the demand side; don't we give formal approval to the supply side? In other threads, I've been told that a joint is no worse than a beer, therefore, we've given permission to drive around with four beers readily available for consumption. At what point is one impaired. Where is the test for driving under the influence. Next thing you know; we'll not only be hearing that we should have health care reform because other countries have free health care; we'll be hearing how we should be legalizing "small amounts of drugs" because other countries do it. What effect would these "smaill" amounts of drugs have on a free or even subsidized health care program. Bread and Circuses. 20. I was driving thru Baytown, Texas (SE of Houston) a couple of weeks ago. Couple of days ago, I get a $75.00 cam ticket in the mail. They have the pictures of my California roll-thru red making a right; but a video also. Evidence on tape. So here's the deal. I really didn't mind paying the ticket (although it does feel intrusive and big brotherish...) While I was down there, some dirtshit snatches a 13 year old girl, mother is screaming and a good samaritan gets the truck tag and calls the cops, the cops feed the tag number into that cam system and concurrently light up those big informational light panels over the beltway (the one's that say, "slow, construction ahead) with: Child Kidnapping Blue Truck TAG # XYZ123 Well, between the good Texans calling and the cams delivering the locations of the vehicle's tag catches to the cops either thru their latops or by radio (I don't know which) but, the police are able to isolate this motherfucker to a certain sector. Within 20-30 minutes, they have him thrown down and hog-tied and the little girl delivered back to her mother. Kind of mixed emotions about it. Big brotherish.. yeah. Did my $75.00 contribute to a system that saved a little girl's life... perhaps. If it did, then it was a small price to pay both for my violation and a system that saved her life. Your thoughts? 21. Hi, Jack. (Not something we should say at an airport, huh?) I doubt you and I ever jumped together as I didn't start until 1981... I was posting an email thread in this skydiving & history section from Richard Economy (Dr. Eco) so as to capture, preserve and pass on the history of skydiving. If you wish to correspond with Dr. Eco directly... go up to where his name is listed and click "Reply" to his post and he'll get an automatic email ping to respond to you directly. Or, you can send him a PM and he'll still get an automatic email to contact you directly. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  22. So, in Australia - you have healthcare, but if you want REAL healthcare, you have to not only pay for others, but pay extra for your own more substantive healthcare? By the way, How's the whole anti-gun thing working for ya down there? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  25. One can do that at a 182 DZ, but at a Turbine DZ even with a separate student landing area with several students in the air at the same time.... Protocol and professionalism around the students must be synchronous. Is there a way to get both parties with the S&TA for a determination of the right way for that DZ and present such at an Instructor's meeting?
